It has a curious Vol pot with an off click built in - is the Pro series the same? I've not heard of another Custom that has one.
My old Wal had this too. Apparently this was on quite a few early 80's Wals but the jig to add this feature to the pot broke and it would have cost too much to fix it.

I have Gareth Hughes' Ernie Mcmillen 4 on loan at the minute while he has my Lakland JO ltd ed. It's great having people relatively local to you so you can try out new gear. Love it! Have to say I'd be more warry (sp?) if I hadn't already dealt with G, but he's a star so no worries!

I'll second the Line6 Studio 110. Great wee amp. Not a very loud 75 watts, but what do you really expect from a 12" cube with 1 10" speaker! I gig with mine DI'd into the band PA too. I was going to suggest Ashdown as well - the original ABMs can be had in combo form quite cheaply s/h. The 1x10 200 watt (although it's really 300 watts) combo is fantastic and from the era when Ashdown were more reliable! Had mine a long time now and it's never coughed once.
Found myself in an odd transient situation today so I thought I'd post a pic:
Read this before the pic appeared... was a bit worried for a second! Have to say I'm still P-curious, even after 2 failed attempts. Don't think I gave either bass a fair crack of the whip. Maybe someday soon I can try again. Nice wee collection OG!

A Warwick with a nice wenge neck would be my choice. It'd cut through a dense guitar and drum mix like the proverbial hot knife... Hence why my goto metal bass is my Warwick Corvette. There was one for sale here the other week for £350. Spend the other £150 on a set of heavy guage strings and a Sansamp VT Bass and you're set!

*SOLD* Ernie McMillen 5 String Jazz *SOLD*
Bigwan replied to Gareth Hughes's topic in Basses For Sale
I had a noodle on this bass at Gareth's gaff a few months back. It's a corker! Didn't know it was a 36" - it was very comfortable. I also have Gareth's Ernie Macmillan 4 string on loan at the minute. That man knows what makes a good bass. Blows the Wal I used to own right out of the water! Deal with confidence here chaps. Gareth's a star! -
Going on the Fenders and Laklands I've played, the Laklands win every time. Maybe don't feel quite as vintage as some Fenders but they've got it everywhere else. I'm a jazz bass man myself...

I can't see that Roscoe Beck hanging around too long. Awesome basses and very sought after (just look at the wanted section here - get the title of your post changed too mate!). They only have 1 volume and 1 tone control as standard, btw. That's why you'd need a new pickguard to reverse the changes.

+1 on the great reply. I for one couldn't have gone softly into the night without knowing reasons and would not have been as nice in my reply (so would probably have burnt bridges and not heard back from from them as to why!)...
Bigwan, With regard to the amp rigs, yes they are both over a grand, but the Peavey Tour Series head is great value for money at £480 (can't recall exact price, haven't got a copy of the mag here). I believe there was a comment in the review to the effect of the cab not being such great value, and a suggestion that the head be paired with a different cab. I would say that in the middle of a recession, the head unit at least represents a pretty good buy. Stu Stuart
I can understand your defence of the mag Stuart. I did read the Peavey review and, agreed, it's good value for what it is, but it's the only piece of gear under £750 reviewed in the mag this month. Out of 8 items (if you count every item individually). Expensive basses are fine (I love them!), but only if you're reviewing one or two a month, combined with a mixture of beginner and intermediate equipment, but 3 such reviews in the one issue are pretty indefensible, especially if there isn't a sub £400 piece of gear reviewed to offset them!

NOW TRADED - Mesa Boogie Buster Bass 200 - NOW TRADED
Bigwan replied to Monz's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Ahhh my mistake, I thought your Sig said it was for trade/sale which is why I suggested it. I shoulda gone to specsavers
Sorry, my fault. It does still say that. I'll update it as 'pending'. Trying to figure a way to afford this... -
I'm pretty unimpressed by the new issue. A quick look at the front cover made my heart sink - my first thought was "they'll never fit this all in one issue"... and they haven't. The home recording roundup is a single page where they only mention one (yes that's ONE, UNO) audio interface. The 3 basses reviewed in the issue are all over 3 grand! The 2 amp rigs reviewed both stack up to well over a grand (a lot more in the case of the mesa stack). What planet are these people on? There's a recession on you know! Get the reviews sorted out guys, for goodness sake! Granted the Sadowsky interview is moderately interesting (although the online video interview floating around at the minute with the man himself is SO much better). The session player article is pretty good. Haven't read the rest yet... although once again the proof reading is diabolical. I'd do it for free and be better than whoever's doing it now! Going by this issue I'll not be renewing my subscription...
