1.
If you haven't had the pleasure of dealing with Steve then he is a top chap.
I don't doubt it! I need to see pics though!!! Honestly, I haven't been checking this thread 4 times a day for pics... really I haven't... no really...
2. Why not just convert it to passive? The pickups are the same. Should be a simple job for anyone who knows how to wield a soldering iron.
3. Have you any better pics Steve? Those ACs must really be doing a job on you!
4. Nice! Not a big fan of the stripes, but I think I could probably live with it - wouldn't really notice it when I'm playing anyway!
5. That's a pretty special setup! Nice!
6. This may have come with the BAII from the factory... I'm becoming P-curious again. How much would you be after?
7. I've said this before a couple of times here. The Scarbee Celinder is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best bass I've ever layed hands on. I'll have my own Celinder one day...
8. I'll refer you to the comment I made on Marcus's Sadowsky sale thread the other day: "Not another bloody Sadowsky... this GAS has me blown up like a balloon! Wish I had £xxxx right now..." Seems to fit this thread too! Good luck with the sale mate!
9. Hi Guys, I've eventually come to the realisation that I'm unlikely to use this cab in the forseeable future - my cover band gigs DI'd to the PA (I'm using a Line6 studio 110 for that! 12" cube!) and my defunct/currently reforming metal band don't play big enough gigs. This is the finest bass cab I've ever played through and beats the 8x10 cabs I've used into the middle of next week. It's not too big (small enough to fit in a Ka with the back seats down!) and doesn't need much power to push it to gigging levels. Best of all, it weighs very little for its size - weighs just 15lbs more than my aguilar 1x12 cab! I can lift this thing with 1 hand and have been able to lift it over my head when needed (although that's never advisable with any cab if it can be avoided!). This style of cab is no longer made and the current TecAmp equivalent is (gulp) £1339. The cab is AS NEW. Only possible downside is that it is 8ohms, but with a cab as sensitive as this it's not much of a downside! More info here: http://www.tech-soundsystems.com/eng/image...r/12er_full.jpg Trade-wise I'm looking for 1 or 2 smaller, high-end cabs. Consider a p/ex for an Aguilar GS112, but ideally 2 Aguilar DB112s in black (that's a long shot!). Hit me with what you've got though. Money-wise I'd be after £600 shipped (I'm in Northern Ireland - I'd like £550 for the cab plus shipping so if the shipping is cheaper than £50 then I'll take the difference off, if it's more I'll absorb the difference). Any questions just ask! Cheers Ian
10. Hardly worth the money/hassle it'd cause for 1 speaker cable really... Be honest, it's just GAS isn't it? Go on, you can tell us. You're among friends here!
11. Playing in the bar/nightclub of Norn Iron's no.1 place to eat. Harbour Bar (Portrush - it ain't THAT good)... Mixed night. I thought we were totally pish, but the crowd loved it and danced the whole night. Like a sauna in the place and couldn't move for punters. Our crap singer is getting worse and our drummer, who thinks he's god's gift (but isn't!), wasn't much better. Everything was played about 20bpm too fast and blamed on everybody else - are there actually drummers out there who can set the tempo themselves and not rely on the guitarist? And another thing... usually the whole idea of having the words on a music stand in front of you is to actually use them... or have I got that all wrong? Brought my wee BR micro recorder along to show the guys just how crap they can be, but set the recording input level too high by accident and now have 2 hours 43 minutes of distorted mush instead! Rant over. Just enjoying a wee Magners now (other apple based alcoholic products are available) before heading off to my pit...
12. Not another bloody Sadowsky... this GAS has me blown up like a balloon! Wish I had £1300 right now...
13.
Sorry Bigwan but my Sadowsky 4 string is coming up shortly
What is it?
14. Thank goodness for that. Now all I need is someone to buy Simon's RV5 and someone else to buy Beedster's HPJ and all will be well again... this Sadowsky GAS is killing me!
15. What about an Aguilar 1x12. I have one of the GS112 cabs and it's great. There's also the DB series which use the same driver as the GS, but due to differing cab dimensions and materials have a bit more in the mids. Never tried one but they're supposed to be even better than the GS series.
16.
if only i had the cash!!
What he said!
17.
I'd expect a Compact to work well with the V4BH, it's a couple of dB more sensitive than your 4x10" (Ampeg are one of the very few that quote realistic sensitivity specs!) One of this next batch is crossing the Irish sea to the North - presumably shipping to Eire is little more expensive? Alex
I'm in the North too - Where's the cab heading Alex? Shipping to Norn Iron is typically more expensive than shipping to, say, the highlands. Shipping to Eire will probably be more expensive again...
18. One of the tecamp (or the older incarnation tech soundsystem) cabs would be the job. The 2x12 or 4x10 would be my choice. Not that many about at the minute though. There was a glut of them for a few weeks there. There's also Alex's Barefaced cabs. I'd love to try one of those but I'm on the wrong side of the Irish sea...
19. Barely competent for 4 my foot! I'd love this but am totally strapped at the mo... unless I can get rid of a Bongo 5 and 55-01 sharpish. In the current climate I doubt it! Good luck selling this beauty!
20. Is there no way you can split your signal, treat the 2 halves signals differently and then blend them together again before the amp? Or add another 1212L, run one 'clean' and one 'dirty'. You're obviously happy with what the 1212L can do, and you don't seem to need any more than you have, you just want more tonal options. Or is it just GAS?
21. Sounds like you lucked out. If you like the one you're playing why not try and buy it? You'll probably travel a long way and try mucho crap basses before you find one that's as good. I'm not ashamed to admit I bought a Westfield P-bass a while back... only paid 20 quid for it mind you!
22. I'll play fly-half to the team (that's number 10 to you round ballgame fans)...
