1. It breaks my heart to see what these basses are selling for at the minute. I have one of these from the same era and it's the best Warwick I've played, so much so that I sold my '83 Wal without fear of sounding inferior. At this price it's a total steal - somebody get it bought!
2. The Gallery have ordered them for people in the past but don't usually have them in stock - there are very few places that do stock them as far as I can tell. Great basses. Flanker's old 4 string (the Scarbee Celinder) is just about the best 4 string I've played bar none...
Another weekend of trusty service from my abm combo! However I'm considering retiring it to home practice only (don't have an amp at home atm). A 300 watt amp is total overkill for what I'm using it for (basically a personal monitor and DI). Also don't like leaving it in our drafty, damp practise room. I've a Line6 studio 110 coming and it'll take over if it sounds the part... it's small and light enough (12" cube, 24lbs) to not have to worry about carting around! Keep feeling like I'm cheating on the abm though - how weird is that!
Yup, I'm afraid to say the ABM's getting retired from regular giging. Tried the Lowdown 110 on a gig on Saturday and it worked an f'ing treat! Goes as loud as I need it to on stage and the DI sounds great... and the 'rock' setting is good to go after a few tweaks. Now my ABM can stay in the house as a pretty practise amp in the living room.
4. Good stuff guys! I'll get onto some of this stuff straight away (listening to Robben Ford here at the minute!). Could you guys also suggest blues tunes a classic power trio lineup could play without much re-jigging? My brother (guitar player - lives at the other end of the country) is wanting to put a trio together to play a local blues club in the next few months. ...was listening to the John Mayer Trio more for some Pino action than anything else! Honest Guv'na! Cheers!
5. Guys, After falling into listening to John Mayer (Trio) a while back I'm starting to wonder about Blues music in general. I have some SRV and Hendrix, but who else should I be checking out? Have a preference for real driving, electric blues... Cheers Ian

7. That 2x12 is only 1lb heavier than my aguilar 1x12... I really wish you were closer!!!

I hear a lot of people say they have to tweak their amps to venues - I must be the odd one out. I run the ashdown combo totally flat, gain up about 3/4, drive at 1/2, volume to taste. That's it.

Yep, my ABM C110 combo... although I DI to the PA and keep stage volume low (personal monitor really). The DI tone is perfect for me!
10.
pics will help
Like the man needs to be told that! He's sold more gear than Tony Montana!

Sold.

Nice bass... but you know we're gonna want to see pics of the Siggery ASAP!
12. The newer tecamp gear seems to be the same cab designs but with a facelift, and a few more models (3 different 2x12 cabs in the range now). They are rediculously expensive new now though! In other words get these bought! If I was nearer I'd have that 1x15 off you in a jiffy!
13. The Boss BR Micro has similar features, although I believe you can't adjust mp3 volume (someone hear may be able to confirm/deny this) independently. I'll know soon enough as I should have one coming any day now.
14.
Very nice - I agree with the Trace looks comment. I have heard very good things about the Brown Note stuff. Fancy making one for my 30th birthday? You've got about 8 months!
No probs - if you can afford me! It sounds just like you'd expect a dumble-type circuit to sound. Fender-esque on the clean channel (and SRV-like when pushed hard), and Robben Ford/early Santana on the dirty channel. It does miss reverb on the clean channel, but that's something I can look at later.
15. Hi guys, For years I've been wanting to build a valve guitar amp. Don't ask me why - I'm a bass player after all (obviously)! Well (eventually!) my first creation is ALIVE! The problem is now I want to build more... Anyway. It's a 'Lite' clone of a Dumble ODS Overdrive circuit, 22 watts output on JJ 6V6s (but sounds much louder, can get 35 watts out of it on 6L6s). It's basically a Fender clean channel with an extra 2 gain stages that can be switched in and out for a dirty channel. I bought it as a kit from the states about 3 years ago (from www.brownnote.net) and it sat in a corner getting anxious and nervous looks now and again! I haven't put the footswitching circuitry or the effects loop in there yet, but I was in a panic to get it 'finished'. I originally intended to build the amp for myself, but it's ended up as a 30th Birthday present for my wee bro (hence the panic). The completed pics below are from his phone cam (the vinyl is a much nicer colour in person!), but the chassis pics are someone elses off the net as I forgot to take some of mine myself. My wiring is slightly neater looking... The cab was built by my own fair hand too. I've learned a lot doing this (mostly that I don't enjoy working with vinyl!) and would recommend anybody that's curious, and knows how to wield a soldering iron in anger, should give it a go. ...and it gets Stewie's seal of approval!
16. That were quick!
17.
Black Widow 15" is worth £100 on its own. £250 less adjustment for the cosmetics, methinks. Already have one, tho' - 3rd I've had - all well poundy. If anybody ever wants the powered 2x10 top cab....
As my mother would say "not while pussy's a cat"... Not in the current climate...
18. You guys are all beginners - I'll see your 2x12 and raise you a 4x12 (and a few skinned knuckles!)
19. Oh bollocks... and I'd been keeping bass GAS at bay so well recently.
20.
Just get the JO5, so that I don't have to keep looking at it!
Yeah, what he said!
21. CK's recently departed Celinder Update Jazz is the best 4 string bass I've ever played. Gutted I didn't have the money for it to be honest...
22. Nearly died there I did... thought you were gonna hack up the RBV!
23. Sorry mate. Gone to Mr. T. Will update listing.
24. Oh bollocks. The best 4 string I've ever played is for sale and I'm skint! I played this in the Gallery just before Flanker bought it. Sorry to hear about your troubles mate...
