1. As I say, great basses.
2. Like the new avatar Nathan! Can't believe this bass is still here!!!
3. Bass is now gone.
4.
Interesting plan. My concern would be that the limiter won't protect you from the ambient mic. If you have vocal mics in the main mix then wouldn't these function as 'ambient' mics anyway?
Possibly. Depends on the mic pickup pattern I suppose. The ambient mic was just an afterthought though.
5. OK guys I'm starting to gather all the components for an in ear monitoring system (wired). I'm going to run: My problem is what to use as a brickwall limiter to save what little hearing I still have from spikes in the mix? Would something cheap and simple like a behringer bass limiter pedal do the job in the meantime until I find something more suitable? The reason I want to mix myself into the monitor mix again is that I might have to share the mix with someone else (only 3 monitor mix outputs from the desk), so I'd like the option to add more of myself as I see fit. Also like that I can add an ambient mic into the personal mixer too (I'll be the only one using in-ears in the band). Any thoughts?
6.
WOW - stunning finish! PS Mine is up to 8months!
Looking good! 38 weeks and counting here Jon quoted 12 - 20 weeks at the time...
7.
Haha I promise I will do in a bit because I have moved house now and set up my lil bass corner in the lounge... some clips should be easy to rustle up. I will add them to my porn thread when I have done some! Cheers ped P.s I probably sound like a broken record talking about the chuffing Vbass, too!
Let's put it this way - you've get me worn down far enough that I've spoke to Jon Shuker about putting a piezo/midi pickup system on my 18 week overdue 6 string in preparation... just need to find a v-bass now...
8.
I have several synths I use from my Roland V-bass and pickup (note it is not a midi pickup but a dedicated pickup for each string). The synths track flawlessly as a result and you can play several notes at once because each string is separately processed. It makes playing really juicy synth sounds across the bass a pleasure because you can adjust the volume of each string to match and get the whole thing sounding like a keyboard!
Er... not to sound like a broken record or anything... CLIPS!
9. Antonio I may just have the Stingray you're looking for (natural finish, rosewood board). PM me if you're interested.
10. I'm sure you'll not be too gutted to be 'stuck' with the Model T. Great basses.
11.
1KW 10x10 Aguilar and Bergantino sounds pretty good:
Great uga muga! Hope you're back's up to the job... mine wouldn't be!
12. What about looking out for a tecamp pleasureboard or something similar (see the IEM thread under the Amps section for more about these and a link to a german homebrew alternative). If you're all going IEM then why bother with an amp at all (other than for the reasons you've already mentioned)?
13.
Used IEMs for 1st time at last night's gig. Rest of the band too except for drummer who required regular monitor. Did two practices with them but didn't haven't a good time. Ended up having to stand quite close to amp and just have IEM in one ear. Because of the nature of the gig (wedding do for 250) couldn't whack up the SVT so had to really concentrate. Anyone else using IEMs or are you favouring regular wedges?
I've been looking into IEMs for myself - the rest of the band aren't interested. Just beware of using one. There's quite a bit of evidence from the manufacturers to suggest that this can cause hearing damage, as you tend to run a single one at a higher volume than when you use both. Was it your mix in the IEMs you were having trouble with?
14.
Hi guys, thanks for your responses... Bigwan, got more info on the Stingray? Matt, interested, PM sent WaywardWanderer, cheers but I'll pass on this one Silverfoxnik, thanks for the advice, I'm not 100% about this, it's a great bass, but at this time I'm just looking for something different, I'd like to see what else is out there.
Natural finish, rosewood board. '96. Good nic other than a few knocks right on the end of the headstock. Recently received it in a trade. Loving the Musicman vibe when I play it myself, but it doesn't fit with my band. There's a pic in Nathan's (NJE) porn thread, although I have a black pickguard on it now: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12332&hl=
15. Interested in a natural Stingray 4? Or a wenge-necked Warwick corvette? We're on the same island too!
16. Bump for pics - apologies for quality!
17. Just a wee note to say that Nathan's a great guy to deal with (and I'm glad to see you're enjoying the RBV - the 'ray's a blinder too mate!). Having tinkled a Streamer Pro-M 5 in the past (and still owning a wenge necked Warwick) this'd be a real find for somebody. Love the black hardware!
18. I'll have some up tomorrow Kev.
19. DHA VT-1 Compressor Pedal inc. PSU. See review here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=6002 New price is £149 without PSU. It's seen a bit of action so some of the 'interesting' paintwork has flaked, but mostly on the bottom. I'd take £85 inc. postage inside UK. Prefer paypal. Cheers Ian Update for pics:
20. Going new, if it were me in your situation, I'd be heading straight for 2 Aguilar 1x12 cabs (either of the 2 kinds that they do - probably go for the DB112 cabs in tweed and get a matching 2unit case for the amp) and a chrome rack mount Evo III Ashdown ABM 500. Maybe a bit more than your budget, but not by too much. Otherwise there's an Ampeg BSP preamp, saoundtech 802 poweramp and tech soundsystems 4x10 in the for sale section. That'd be mighty rig!
21. Not a bad find that... I bought an '83 Wal Custom for 500-nicker a few years ago. That was a pretty good find too...
