There's a double battery box route on there already and it's a full size control cavity too so loads of room for adding a circuit at a later date.

After a bit of indecision I'm going without a preamp on this bass. In the last few months I've gone passive on all the basses I own so I'm keeping this one simple too. Just VVT for me, although if this changes I'd think yours would be number 1 on the list Alan!

I'm looking at the 4 string at the minute (along with a few other things). They do look the business. The only thing that'd put me off the 5 string is the string spacing on the current model - it's VERY tight. Some of the earlier models had much wider spacing on the 5 strings. Play one and see what you think yourself.

On a similar note, will a status 'ray 4 string replacement fit onto an OLP 'ray without any mods? Anybody know?

I haven't heard any of the new album, except perhaps a live version from when they played at Abbey Road for Channel4, so I can't comment, but BSSM is one hell of an album to try and live up to.

How weird is that - that was the first thing I thought of! Slightly off topic - who else thinks the Chili Peppers have been crap since BSSM?

Hi guys. I've been playing on and off for around 16 years, but 99% of it's been spent playing rock and metal. I've always listened to a broad range of music, but have only really played rock. I'd like to make a move away from being so one-dimensional but find playing other kinds of music very challenging - I listen to things like Jamiroquai and am totally blown away by the playing mostly because the rhythms and grooves are so left field compared to what I'm used to! Can anybody give me a "crash course" of albums I should be listening to and learning to change my mindset? Can I ask a broader question than that?

I played this bass the day Flanker went to see it in the Gallery. It barks! In a good way...

I once saw a really battered pre-EB ray in a pawn shop here for £325... Alas at the time I really didn't know what it was. With a bit of TLC it would have been a cracking bass but I had no cash at the time and on my return it was long gone. A good 'ray is one of the few basses I still really long for. I've yet to play one that makes the blood boil - but it's out there somewhere!

I've just bought an amp from Geoff. Great chap to deal with and delivery was swift even taking Easter into account. Cheers Geoff!

Marbass Littlemarks seem to get big thumbs up. Haven't tried one myself though.

I played a Fodera Emperor delux 5 in the Gallery a few years back. It took me about a month to get over it. Every time I looked at my girlfriend for that month I couldn't help but think "if i sold you into servitude i could afford that bass"....
