  1. Dingwall D-roc 5 Standard is still interesting me... But the more I play my Vigier 5 string the more I think maybe a 4 string Vigier would round out the collection nicely!
  2. Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon is $519/£388 at prymax, £479 in UK...
  3. Yes, but I wonder how close that gets to the UK price? Just checked the price of the dug pedal too. The prymax price is the same as I paid for my used one recently. Boils my pi55...
  4. Well not to open a can of worms again, but accepting that sort of price as "normal" is screwing the collective! As an example the YYZ is £215 at guitarguitar here in the UK today... Yet at prymax (USA) it's $155 at the minute. That's £116... Somebody's lining their pockets nicely!!! Personally I'd never even consider buying a Tech21 product new.
  5. Yeah... My money's on it being North of 300quid...
  6. That looks mighty!
  7. I've never got along with Musicman basses... So why do I suddenly have GAS for a 5 string 'ray? Odd...

I'm the same, I love the idea of a 'Ray but the SB14 and Ray34 tasters I tried never really floated my boat sadly.

I bought a cheapo OLP 4-string off the 'bay, it sounded fine but I didn't get on at all with the clubby neck... subsequently bought a gorgeous fretless Jaydee neck from Greenolive of this parish, and now it's fabulous.

I'd imagine a used Ray35 may be the answer. Thought I'd get hands on with one in Guitarguitar in Glasgow on Sunday, but nobody seemed interested in helping out a poor bass player - too many guitards to be helped instead...

  8. Ah! The difference between mobile and full website versions!
  9. Can't see how to get the "lite" version... Every time I get to the drop down version box I only have the option of the full version. Am I missing something?

  11. I will own one of these some day. The Excess is SO good, I can only imagine what this is like...
  12. AFTER! I'm a total tart...
  13. This one made my credit card sweat...
  14. €49.50 +VAT for Parallax. Bargain!
  15. Joyo Orange Juice has been a fav of mine. And the American Sound, although I've modified mine into more of an SVT/Tech21 VT-bass type which also sounds good. Chord OC-50 is a decent octaver with a synth/drive option which is nice.
  16. That's nuts! I'd only ever use a quarter of it but still!
  17. I've felt the same about a number of basses I've played including most Sei and Fodera basses I've tried. Different strokes for different folks!
  18. And maybe when you grow up to be a big boy Danny, you will!
  19. I've had custom basses from both. While Jon will build you pretty much anything you desire, Alan has a more fixed menu of options - which is in no way a criticism. Personally I found dealing with Alan a much more pleasurable experience. He got my build 100% correct... And on time... Neither of which I can say about my Shuker. Still an outstanding bass but Alan's work is another level. IMHO, YMMV, etc.
  20. Don't see that as an issue myself. Don't spend ANY time up around the dusty end...
  21. D-roc 5's (including the Rob van der Loo Hellboy Ltd. Ed.) in stock at bassdirect now... Credit card is getting nervous...
  22. Dingwall D-roc standard 5... That's as pointy as I'd ever get I think...
  23. Yup, I’d go octave down into b:assmaster into filter and away you go! Great fun messing with these sorts of combinations. You’d probably be better off with a gated fuzz (mastotron or similar), but that shouldn’t stop you getting going.
  24. That's why I qualified my initial statement with IMHO, and YMMV... But having been on the "MUST HAVE WAL" merry-go-round and satiated that thirst to the tune of £550 (what I paid for my Wal), I wouldn't pay the going rate nowdays... But I'd happily pay the going rate for an ACG...
