1.
MB1. ...Posh in Poole! Patio doors?... why have you got carpet in the garden?.
Funny! I wondered the same thing - lovely bass btw. I'd have it if I hadn't quenched the P-GAS this year already!
2. For me there's no comparison - I wouldn't consider 5 string musicman (musicmen?) basses as the string spacing is too tight for me. Having sat down a few years ago at the gallery and A-B-C'd a US Sadowsky, 2 Moon 5 Jazzes, a Lakland JO5, a Marcus Miller 5, a USA dlx Jazz V and every other 5 in the place (including 2 Sei 5ers and quite an old Shuker 5), there was nothing that could touch the Lakland JO5 in any price range. I even preferred it to the Sadowsky 5, which although s/h was almost double the price of a new JO. As to what OutToPlayJazz sats about a lakland DJ, it's the one lakland model I've never played but I'm surprised that the experience was a negative one. The only Lakland I don't like is the hollowbody - but hollowbody basses aren't for me anyway. Just my tuppence worth... I'm at the penny counting stage of a JO5 purchase... Next one to appear here will have my name on it (if I'm quick enough!).
3. So lighten up on the string guages to get less tension!
4. Skyline JO5 is the way to go. Period.
5. As Rick Turner says - "too much shielding is just about enough"!
6. Err - I've just fitted a MIM control plate to my JO and it isn't an exact match (close, but where the plate meets the pickguard there is a slight difference). However - the fender plate replaced a factory fit J-retro, so maybe the factory fit standard plate is the same as a fender...
7. It could have one of those pxb lightbulb fuses in the crossover. Could explain it...
8. At one point yesterday the first 5 threads in the for sale section were for Warwicks. I thought it strange.
9. Cheers G. I was always confused why there weren't more of these basses around, especially considering the impact the Curbow version made - they seem to be everywhere! There a JP5 on Talkbass at the minute for $600. I'll maybe think about it...
10. Has anyone here ever tried a Cort Josh Paul sig? Based on an Elrick design. I've never seen one in the UK. Anyone know where I could find one?
11. Glad to see this sold for you Ped - still a bit sh*t that you had to sell it though. Hope you're better soon mate.
12. That looks fantastic mate! I have the plans for most of the omni full range cabs (except the omni 12 tallboy) and plan to build 2 10.5 cabs and an omni 15 at some point in the next year. Seeing this has just spurred me on! Good idea with the wee ibanez amp too.
13. Even on counting the pennies I am still quite a bit short (well a bit short, but enough that it might be considered a slap in the face offer for this beauty) - somebody buy this cracking bass and help Ped out... and take it out of my sight!!!
14. Gurgle! I want this... Unfortunately I'm potless... Have a bump mate.
I remember Ari posting this picture of his Consat when he was selling it. I hope he doesn't mind me posting it again but it is one of the most beautiful basses I have ever seen
That looks awesome!

From the look of the pics for this one it's been through eubassix's hands at some point. Nice looking bass:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MARLEAUX-JB4-Jazz-Ba...1QQcmdZViewItem
17. Bass Player (playing 15 years, own gear, transport and most of own teeth) would like to join a gigging covers band (preferably rock, but can play anything) with a view to doing a couple of paying gigs a month. Ballymena based but willing to travel within reason. Cheers.
18. Bump for a good filter. I like it but it doesn't really suit playing in a metal band! Cheers Ian
19. Love the sound of that bass. Got yourself a pretty cool gig too MB - love the podcast!
20. I suppose that all makes sense, but I was curious to see just how good a cab could be with a beta 10 in it! Whichever way you cut it it's well under a ton in speakers/piezos to make one of these cabs - got to be worth a go!
I would! The DeltaLite II is particularly well suited as its rising response in the midrange compensates for the lowpass effect of the horn, resulting in flatter response. Add a bit more sensitivity, almost twice the excursion limited power handling and a 1kg per woofer weight saving and the fact that DIY cabs are SO cheap compared to comparable cabs I don't think it's worth skimping on the drivers. But if you already own some suitable speakers then using them seems the wisest course. Alex
21. Higgie's the man. Just sold him an Akai Unibass and he was the perfect buyer - enjoy your new pedalboard mate! Ian
22. I'm considering the lowdown 110 myself. Looks like a good wee amp, although apparently there was trouble with the headphone output with the first run of these...
23. The good thing is that I can build it with my current speaker (which is suitable - Kappa 15LF) and upgrade/lighten the load later! Don't think I'd bother stumping up the extra over a Beta 10 for a deltalite or basslite 10 for the Omni 10.5 though!
