Hey Luke! Yes.. to be honest, having played with my Epifani cab, I even reckon the Techs have the edge.. especially with the top end. They aren't cheap, but they certainly aren't the ridiculous boutique prices of *the competitors*. I loved the Tech cabs loads! Very PA like and light as a feather! Thomas! Its not toooo late! I will accept an endorsement deal from you! lol
If that's the case then I'm sorted from the off! I have the tech 4x12 version of dood's 4x10! Excellent!

There's always one, isn't there!
Flat cab? How about one of these? Very cheap too I beleive.
Usually not, but probably will on this gig.
Well, if you don't turn off the speaker simulation in the POD, you may as well go through PA speakers. But don't you gig with PA anyway?

Something like these? - Omni12 Hamster
Bill gets a lot of love here and at talkbass, but I've never actually heard or used any of his designs (although I have bought the plans for the omni12 in the past when I was in cab building mode!). Would the omni12 be considered to be a "flat" cab? It could be the answer, although it's slightly bigger than I was hoping for!

There's a rather nice looking MIM Jazz in the classifieds @ £250 just to give you an idea of what you can get S/H for your money...

You go for it mate - check out how much for a kidney and i'll take the roscoe too! Good luck mate!
Thanks for the positive comment(s) BW .. shall I check the organ donation websites and see if we can arrange a three-way deal?.....
Hi all, I'm thining of supplementing/replacing my rig with a modelling rig with the Line6 Bass Pod XT at the center. To do this successfully I'd like to buy a flat/uncoloured cab and I'm looking for suggestions. I've heard of people using Mackie SRM450 PA speakers but I'm concerned they wouldn't handle the low end. I know there are the usual ACME/ACCUGROOVE suggestions to consider, but getting an ACME is awkward (importing) and ACCUGROOVE are prohibitively expensive at the minute. I'm really looking for something cheap to check that it'll all work well. Any ideas folks? Cheers Ian

I'd give my left nut for this bass - unfortunately it's probably not worth £795 (the nut, not the bass!) Good luck with this!
ebay listing unsuccesful .. if anybody can do £795 (delivered) before the end of the month (... whilst I'm still here) then I'll take it.
I would highly recommend you check out Schecters. I bought a Schecter Model T (modelled on a 51 precision, but with P + J pickups, real Seymour Duncans at that, none of tha Duncan Designed nonsense!). I bought it for £206+postage on Ebay and it's become one of my favourite basses. Being open minded and shrewd in your second hand purchases can be much more rewarding than just sticking to budget and buying new...

It has a balanced output, not xlr. Therefore if you use a balanced jack (stereo jack to xlr cable type thing!) on the effected out you get a +4 signal I believe. Thinking of getting an XT Live myself.
Hey all Could anyone tell me if a bass pod xt (kidney bean) has an XLR DI out, as the faq on line six's site site say's it does but there is not one shown on the pic of it's in's and out's, also is the headphone volume independant of the master volume. Many thanks Marti
I'm interested in the response to this - I'm looking at getting one of these too! Some excellent reviews over on talkbass - but they all say the same thing. If you're not willing to spend serious quality time with one setting it up then don't buy it as the presets are pants. Ped has the XT pro which is basically the same guts but with different connectivity and no footswitches so hoping he'll chime in here!
I've never really been a fan of effects but i've just got into a band that'll probably need some and i was thinking of a Line 6 xt live but is it worth the money compared to a few stompers and a tuner? What do you guys think? Anyone got one??? cheers, Davie.
No longer For sale (or swap) Bass Pod XT
Bigwan replied to tredders's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
As featured on John's site. Mines the u-retro 01: http://www.east-uk.com/jrhome.htm Chrome stacked knobs and switches. Great piece of kit but I haven't got a suitable bass to put it in at the minute and already have one in my jazz bass. Let me know what you think. Cheers Ian
quite possibly. can you post or pm some details? thanks mark
-

Hey Ped, Those Bacchus look fantastic - what's the spacing like at the bridge on the Jazz bass? Cheers Ian

Having read a bit about the new Aguilar DB range of cabs I think maybe a pair of the new DB112's would suit me down to the ground. Anybody here tried them yet? The gallery seems to be the only place that has them listed in the UK... I'm even more set on this small rig idea after this past weekend. Had a practice with a new band and on returning my Tech cab to my car I pulled something in my neck. The weight of the cab is fine, it's just an awkward one man lift and I twisted the wrong way!
-
I love my Tech 4x12, but it's total overkill for most of the venues I'm ever likely to play so I'm considering purchasing 2 more small cabs to build a modular rig. I'm primarily looking at 2 1x12 cabs. I was considering the aguilar gs112 and gs112nt, but having read the reviews the general opinion seems to be they're excellent but shy in the mids. This'd be the last thing I'd want in a gigging rig as I'd be concerned they wouldn't cut through the mix. Can anyone give me info on they're small gigging rigs and what I should be stearing away from? I'm particularly interested in any views on Epifani (UL or PS so weigh in here walbassist/Gareth if you're listening!) cabs or the other Aguilar cabs (the DB range I think they are? They're supposed to be very mid present). Whatever I end up with I'll be running them with an Aguilar AG500. Hit me!
-
...they just haven't taken down the old website... Either way they're mighty cabs. Bloody light too - my 4x12 is a pretty easy one person carry (although I'm 6ft/15 stone). You thinking of a replacement for your ampeg rig danny?
-
+1 on the celinder idea. I played the black 4 string that Flanker bought. Easily one of the best 4 string basses I've ever played. I have a Skyline Joe Osborne myself which I love (although I'm preferring it passive!). If you're after something more custom then any ofthe guys already mentioned will build you one. Or you could always go to Nino and have a Valenti made up to your specs. I'm quite interested in one of those myself... and he's built nordy/audere combinations into a few of his basses. 5 string Jazz in vintage white with rosewood board, tort guard and Nordy big singles... Mmmmmmmm Good!

Recently bought a Schecter Model-T from Pete here and the transaction was totally painless. A corking bass too!
-
Hi Pete, Loving the model-T so far. Spent a few hours last night shielding the pickup and control cavities - not sure why but all my basses buzz alot in our house (probably all the lights and electronics about here!). Now I like it even more than before! Cheers Ian

Hi guys, Just a brief update. I was cruising the evil that is ebay one night a few weeks ago and stumpled upon a schecter model T 4 string with a few hours to go, sub £200. Having played one on a trip to Glasgow Sound Control in the past I had a fair idea that they weren't utter pants (I somehow seem to remember crap basses I play in shops, but not the good ones - is that a sign that overall quality has improved over recent years??). So I thought it would be worth a punt. If I didn't like it I could flog it on and make my money back. I didn't even notice at the time that it had proper SD pickups and everything! Anyway, long story short, £206 plus postage and a short wait has landed me with a real peach of a bass. Exactly what I was looking for and almost comparable in quality with basses I've paid more than 3 times as much for. I'm well chuffed! Moral of the story - I didn't have to spend the £600 I was planning to to get exactly what I was after, do you? It also turned out that I bought it from a fellow BCer - who is also selling a peavey G-bass in the classifieds at the minute! Cheers Ian
