When you say the Muff and Darkglass were too much, what do you mean? Too much distortion? Which Darkglass did you try? My go-to distortion pedal at the minute is the Darkglass Alpha-Omicron clone by DemonFx.

The HX stomp CAN do it, but it's awkward in how you have to set it up and you're restricted to 8 processing blocks total (used to be 6 but an update upgraded it!) and doesn't have XLR ours. You need to go to the HELIX LT for that. Go the whole hog...

I would have paid 499 for it even with the issues. The only one that'd bother me is the bass control and it's a simple fix, but YMMV

There is a Haz 3 band clone out there for sale on the FB, but the builder is based in Russia and my experience so far is that you wouldn't need to be in a hurry to receive it... ATK is the ultimate Stingray killer so I'd be aiming more for a 'ray type pre myself. It's a weird one when you look at internal pics. A HUGE PCB with each circuit section clustered together. Only single sided though which makes it slightly more tricky to isolate sections from each other...
