  1. Analogue pedals will always have their place, same as valve amps. Some folks will never be swayed by all the digital shenanigans. Likewise many are unlikely to be swayed by anything in that video. Everything about the subject and contents of that “demo” is half baked at best...
  2. "Seek and destroy" by Metallica. I didn't even know who Metallica were... Edit: actually the first tune I could play was the theme to top gun on my brother's guitar... VERY badly...
  3. That feeling when you've been eyeing up a B-stock item on Thomann, eventually talk yourself into it, and it's gone...

It has saved you a bit of dosh. There will always be more gear out there for you to buy in future
But for now..... control your urges man! ;) I'm trying to control my GAS..... trying!

  5. Was just looking at this on Alan’s Instagram feed. I’ll say the same I said there. Perfection!
  6. Hi Gareth - is there much "give" in the width of the bag? Looking for something to carry my helix in. It's a hair over 22" long.
  7. I have the first version of this, pre-EVO series. I'll never sell it. Best amp I've ever owned. Somebody get this bought!
  8. Really going "The Distance" there @Sibob! Nom, nom, nom, lovely Cake! Haven't a clue which is which! Both sound great.
  9. How silly of me! I shall go and restring all me basses in this fashion...
  10. Where are those ball ends secured?!
  11. The nicest P I've played recently was a Fender 50's Original series. Beautiful instrument. Nicely played in feel from a spanking new bass but not a slim neck so definitely try as many as you can and pick what fits you best. One man's meat and all that...
  12. As @Dood points out, this is unfortunately not the case with many post 2012 Apple laptops (and many models of Mac Mini post 2013 and iMac post 2013 too - some 27" iMacs of the same date CAN be upgraded). I intentionally went for an older MB Pro so I could make further changes down the line. That meant I had to go for a 2012, non-retina machine. i7, 16Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD and 1Tb drive replacing the DVD drive. It's heavier than I'd like, can't support Mojave (even though Apple say it should), is about as quick as it can possibly get already and it's certainly not as sleek as newer offerings, but it's blisteringly quick for a machine of its age, much quicker than my relatively new i5 windows laptop at similar tasks (i5, 8Gb, 256Gb SSD). That's an apples and oranges comparison, but there's 6 years between them! I'd echo others in recommending you buy the absolute best spec you can afford.
  13. I played one of these at the Sadowsky showroom in Brooklyn nearly 10 years ago. Through one of the Sadowsky branded (Bergantino designed?) 4x10 cabs. Even at low volume it was fat, chewy, 3D, gloriously nom, nom, nom bass.... best rig I’ve never owned...
  14. Metcal SP200. All day, every day. Never used anything better. Not cheap though...
  15. Pretty difficult... Some I really liked, others I thought were bloody awful on the ear (and the eye in some cases!), but my top 3 on this listen (could totally change if I went over it again!) '69 Relic Fender Custom Shop Sandberg Marlowe DK Dingwall Lee Sklar
  16. Seems reasonable money: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROSCOE-CENTURY-STANDARD-VI-SIX-STRING-BASS-SWAMP-ASH-BODY-AWESOME-INSTRUMENT/183725626857?hash=item2ac6e695e9:g:OD8AAOSwXeJYFdjE Cash on collection kills it for a lot of people I would imagine...
  17. @karlfer looks nice. When you say "dirt", does it break up nicely if you're driving the front end?

    Ibanez Porn

Be interested on your thoughts @Kev once the preamp is fixed. Been pondering an Ibanez 6 and the SRMS would be high on the list!
  19. Heads up Ibanez fans, there’s an SR1405T (neck through version) for sale on Facebook group “Bass players sell - buy - swap-UK only” (S4 7, wherever in the country that is!). No affiliation with seller. I know they’re rare, and kind find the Ibanez thread...

...and like buses, there’s another on eBay now!

  20. I was offered one of these in trade recently. Look interesting, but a bit of an unknown quantity and hard to get the money back on based on the trade value the other guy put on it.
  21. Quite liked that up to about 3 minutes in then it fell apart for me, and nearly for her I think! I can see where the AIC/Soundgarden comparisons are coming from, and unfortunately the Alanis Morissette thing too...
