  1. I played one of these at the Sadowsky showroom in Brooklyn nearly 10 years ago. Through one of the Sadowsky branded (Bergantino designed?) 4x10 cabs. Even at low volume it was fat, chewy, 3D, gloriously nom, nom, nom bass.... best rig I’ve never owned...
  2. Metcal SP200. All day, every day. Never used anything better. Not cheap though...
  3. Pretty difficult... Some I really liked, others I thought were bloody awful on the ear (and the eye in some cases!), but my top 3 on this listen (could totally change if I went over it again!) '69 Relic Fender Custom Shop Sandberg Marlowe DK Dingwall Lee Sklar
  4. Seems reasonable money: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROSCOE-CENTURY-STANDARD-VI-SIX-STRING-BASS-SWAMP-ASH-BODY-AWESOME-INSTRUMENT/183725626857?hash=item2ac6e695e9:g:OD8AAOSwXeJYFdjE Cash on collection kills it for a lot of people I would imagine...
  5. @karlfer looks nice. When you say "dirt", does it break up nicely if you're driving the front end?

    Ibanez Porn

Be interested on your thoughts @Kev once the preamp is fixed. Been pondering an Ibanez 6 and the SRMS would be high on the list!
  7. Heads up Ibanez fans, there’s an SR1405T (neck through version) for sale on Facebook group “Bass players sell - buy - swap-UK only” (S4 7, wherever in the country that is!). No affiliation with seller. I know they’re rare, and kind find the Ibanez thread...

...and like buses, there’s another on eBay now!

  8. Somewhere. Possibly on my old phone.
  9. I was offered one of these in trade recently. Look interesting, but a bit of an unknown quantity and hard to get the money back on based on the trade value the other guy put on it.
  10. Quite liked that up to about 3 minutes in then it fell apart for me, and nearly for her I think! I can see where the AIC/Soundgarden comparisons are coming from, and unfortunately the Alanis Morissette thing too...
  11. This. For something a little more down to earth have a look at Tesseract's live rig. They're playing backing tracks to the PA and 3 separate click tracks to the band's IEMs from a laptop through an audio interface. Plenty of bands doing it nowadays, especially the click tracks and patch changing.
  12. Punch in a pedal. Love these.
  13. Sounds great! The unfortunate thing about it is the name... I've played so much mediocre Laney gear over the years I'd be extremely unlikely to even give something like this a chance, and I assume I wouldn't be the only one. You have to wonder why Laney wouldn't create an offshoot company to minimise the impact the old name might have on sales...
  14. Wow! Didn't see this coming! Trades of interest Kev?
  15. I’ll be having a nosey at this when I’m at work tomorrow! Really enjoyed my brief play time investigating the possibility of adding presets to a Darkglass Vintage Microtubes clone using a Nano, a quad digital pot chip, a rotary encoder, a few push switches, a toilet roll tube and some sticky backed plastic...
  16. That's a great looking bass
  17. Man if I could find a second one of these I'd be all over this! Still kicking myself for selling my Tech Soundsystems 4x12. What an amazing cab it was...
  18. These also work as the smallest audio interface in the world!
  19. I have unnerving GAS for a 6 string, in particular an Ibanez SR1206. Perhaps it's something I ate...

@Dood - yes, that was my 1006 but it's gone now, and I now have a 1206 as my main bass, though was disappointed to find I couldn't get an East uni pre into the cavity (spent an hour or more with John East trying to figure it out, but it simply won't fit!).

What you want is to swing by my place and have a fiddle on the Maruszczyk 6 I got last year. Go on.....you know you want to.

It's certainly closer to what you're looking for than the Guma Antique would be. It was probably a little TOO clean for my purposes so it's definitely one you should try.
  21. I bought an SQ a few years back for a ton. But it wasn't in anywhere near as good condition as this. Still one of the best bass purchases I ever made. Unfortunately I sold it in a period of skint-dom and the guy won't sell it back! You live and learn...
  22. There's a flaw with this thinking... Basschat is worse than any guitar shop I've ever been in... Except The Bass Gallery...
  23. Those inlays are... different...
  24. Lovely. But I'm skint...
