  2. Not helping my GAS... I'm not even playing live at the minute and unlikely to be any time soon, but I STILL want in on this...
  3. I've just seen on a certain pickup designer's instagram feed that he's thinking of selling his personal hellborg pre & amp for $3000...
  4. Vester did make a similar looking article, but I think this is a Westfield VBS4A. The Vesters were actually pretty good!
  5. Aw man... Collection only kills this for me... Looks like a great bass. Wish I was closer. 😢
  6. All 4 Ernie Ball basses I owned. 5 string 'ray (bought new) was the best sounding of the bunch but ergonomically I didn't get on with it at all. 4 string 'ray felt ok, but disappeared in the mix and sounded like stinky poo solo. Bongo 5 didn't do it for me at all. Traded it for a Bongo 4 which, again, didn't do anything for me and rattled like mad when I tried to get a medium (not low) action.
  7. Don't boil your strings. Steep them in meths overnight to clean them then hang them up to dry. Works a treat!
  8. Gotcha. "Yeah great idea Mrs Painy. He'll be happy forever more and never need any more gear ever."
  9. Childhood friend here...
  10. You mentioned dUg: http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/sansamp/dug_dp3x.html Surely that's easier than carting another amp and cab? All valve is nice and all, but adding a valve guitar amp won't get you an all valve rig, will it?
  11. All gone, nothing to see here!
  12. Ah... one of those dictatorships. Been there, done that. It'll kill your soul in the long run. Vote with your feet...
  13. Sounds like you need a new guitarist! Edit: I would say you've maybe got a bit too much drive going on, but that would just be for my taste and equipment. You may find it hard getting any more meaningful responses than my first suggestion...
  14. Files you can open on whatever electronic device you own - PC, mac, tablet, smartphone. The advantage being you can have your entire collection on one device, or (in some cases anyway) share them between devices, or store them in "the cloud" and access them on any of your devices, virtually anywhere with a wifi or mobile data network. Personally I prefer having a real book...
  15. This is a rather lovely sounding wee unit!
  16. Proper bargain and great basses.
  17. Bolted together, but I think there's a bit more involved than that. The rolled fingerboard edges for example. Wind their own pickups too. Certainly seem to have hit on a decent formula!

    Ramp??

    I'm not one of them...

    Ramp??

I had a ramp on the shuker 6 string I had made. It's a brilliant device, and so simple. Having played the bass both with and without it, it was a much better experience with it. It's been described as a natural compressor, which I think hits the nail on the head. Certainly evened out my ropey right hand technique!
  20. Personally I'd be after something small(ish), possibly with a view to sticking it on my pedalboard. Rackmount would be no use to me at all...
  21. I find myself, once again, with too much gear and I have pretty much everything I could need covered with my helix... Tc Spectradrive - bought to try out the toneprint thing and decided to try out compression again and couldn't find a used Spectracomp at the time. Some really cool sounds available and great as a one-stop-shop for practice purposes. Velcro on the bottom, otherwise as new. One thing of note is that it came to me with a European power supply, but it will run from any standard pedal supply with 250mA available. £90 posted in UK. ####Sold####
  22. Between the buried and me. From the Counting Crows song Ghost Train
  23. Ooh... Very interested!
  24. Stop it... You'll make 6'7" cry...
