  1. He isn't kidding when he says "The truss rod protrudes at an odd angle"!!! I'd buy that for the body if it was going for a realistic price, but not for anything over a ton...
  2. Now if somebody had described that to me I would have run a mile... but it's rather lush!

I noticed on instagram last night that pedalparts are about to start selling an ROG Ginger kit for anyone that's interested. Nice sounding fliptop emulation that can get into SVT-ish territory. I prefer it to the SFT.

We have a few rework stations at work. VERY handy for SMD stuff! Always fancied one myself...

    HPF + LPF

Just been looking at the Mooer Radar cab sim pedal and it has built in and, according to the manual, adjustable HP and LP filters, as well as EQ, power amp and cab sims. No details as to what the available settings are for the filters or what slope the filters have though... Very interesting little pedal nonetheless! Edit:from a user on that other site, HPF is adjustable from 15Hz in 5Hz steps. 5 band eq has sweepable mid points.
  6. Until recently I had a 2012 mac mini 2.3Ghz that I upgraded to 16gb RAM and an SSD. It was pretty sedate before, but it was BLISTERINGLY quick with the upgrades The only thing to be aware of is what age of hardware the operating system supports. With each osx update another "generation" of macs is lopped off. Even as fast as it was, the mac mini I had probably wouldn't survive another update after Mojave... Not the end of the world, but software upgrades will eventually squeeze you.
  7. A state variable filter is certainly nothing new, or a magic ingredient of any kind - both the GR2 and Wonderlove (most envelope filters actually) are based on a state variable filter. They combine a low pass, band pass and high pass filter in one circuit. I'd be more interested in knowing about the revolutionary envelope detection circuit Spencer has used...
  8. Tempting idea, but hardly central! It's a wonder there hasn't been a Norn Iron bash floated yet (he says ducking behind the parapet before he gets himself a job!!!)
  9. If it's not immediately then I'd certainly be interested!
  10. That's the perfect way to describe it Gareth!
  11. As would few others around here...
  12. Bought! Thanks for that! No more weigh me with/without shenanigans!
  13. They are indeed! This is the 4th I've owned and they've all been excellent. Really regret selling my last one (the "Ebay Cricket Club auction" Finn 4 P bass, ash neck, rosewood board, alder body, goncalo alves top), but hopefully @Bridgehouse will remember me if/when he sells it. The first I owned had been with @Merton and went to @walbassist after me. It was a little niche (33" scale, mahogany body, 5 string Graft Recurve) but it told me everything I needed to know about Alan's work.
  14. Never tried one, but always been curious. They seem like my ideal amp too and the comparison to the Orange AD200 is very interesting as one of my favourite amps is the original Orange Terror Bass. Might have to keep an eye out for one of these in future...
  15. Give me a shout sometime Frank and we can meet up!
  16. It was NBD last Tuesday. Many thanks to @ead for answering my call for a wenge necked ACG on the Facebook ACG owners group. It's an understated, but absolutely stunning bass. Spec and Alan's original pics here: http://archive.acguitars.co.uk/portfolio/0178-recurve-4/ Pics: Must get a pic with both of the ACGs together...
  17. Was that the flame topped 5 string? Didn't you add a villex preamp or something to that one?
  18. Aimed squarely at Sandberg, but can't help but think that these will impact Sire sales more...
  19. Holy free holy! 70! I thought I was bad with 13...ish...! Must try harder... 1. ACG Custom 4 2. ACG Custom 5 3. Fender USA P 4. Squier CV P 5. Aria Pro 2 MAB20/5 6. Yamaha RBX270F fretless 7. Kala Ubass 8. Harley Benton Uke bass 9. Tanglewood Bass Master Funk 10. Bitsa P (currently in bits...) 11. Antoria 335 shaped semi hollow thing (with frets ripped out...) 12. Tokai Thunderbird (badly in need of a refret) 13. Non name acoustic bass (if I can play a song on this I can play it on anything!) 13 1/2. Bits P 2 (or rather all the bits for another bitsa, in need of painting and assembly...)
  20. Here, Prince Charles is just off the phone. He wants his ears back... In other words I'd be looking at smaller tuners if I were you. That's going to throw the whole thing off... The rest is looking great!
