Earthquake... Laney Richter Nuclear... Behringer iNuke Neither fall into the "never need to buy another big amp ever" category but they're all I can think of based on the abundance of information!!!
-
No way I could have done that! Had to take at least a mm off the ones I fitted. It wouldn't put me off doing it again (have already been eyeing up the Thomann site today, but I'm in clearout mode and need to sell a few things to make some space and pay off recent acquisitions... and there's a Fiesta Red version due into Thomann end of the month so I'd like to see pics of that!) but I'd be better prepared next time... DREMEL!!!

Nothing to laugh at! Good solid basses. Chunky neck (and I mean CHUNKY!) but feels nice. Sounds spot on, but I'd change the electrics. Pickup was great (Wilkinson), but they've changed them now - reports are the Roswell ones are good too. Only issue I really had was the tuners felt like cheap rubbish, but if I'd known how big a hassle it was going to be fitting wilkinsons with the rubbish file I had to hand I would have stuck with the originals I think (tuner baseplate is a few mm too big)! Possibly just needed liberal application of lube to make the standard ones feel nicer... @discreet should be on commision from Thomann he's sold so many with his refurb pics!

How the hell have I not come across Soften The Glare until now?!?
Bigwan replied to Painy's topic in General Discussion
Ryan Martinie is a total monster of a player. I've listened to the Soften The Glare album a few times. Meh... Just not Mudvayne... I love watching him play though, I have to say. Think I've watched everything on youtube by now. -
I would also like feedback on said feedback...

Two Notes Le Bass (now with power supply!) **SOLD**
Bigwan replied to Bigwan's topic in Effects For Sale
From Two Notes: What power supply do I need for the Le Preamp series ? Solution If you wish to use a power adapter other than the one provided with your Le Preamp pedal, here are the specifications it will need to respect: Voltage: 9 or 12 V DC. The power supply needs to be Direct Current (DC), you cannot use an Alternating Current (AC) power supply. You have to use a regulated power supply. 12V is preferred, but 9V should work ok too. Expect a little loss of headroom at the output stage. Current: 500 mA or more. The Le Preamp series pedals use 500 mA of electric current. Any power supply delivering less than 500 mA will not be able to provide enough electric current and will not function, or may undergo some damages. A power supply delivering more than 500 mA can be used. Connector: 5.5 x 2.1 mm. This is the standard-size connector for effects pedals. Polarity: negative center. This is the most common type of polarity for effects pedals. So 9v/500mA will work fine if you have it. -
Yes I've had that experience before too... Recently we also had somebody drop a parcel over our gate to the dogs once, while we were in the house! Not any great value (well, £20 worth of Playmobil - Christmas present for my nephew). I looked out to see our Lurcher cross giving a small green troll a real chewing! That wouldn't have been so bad, but to add insult to injury he'd stopped to leave a card explaining he'd left the parcel in the back yard on the garage windowsill. Doubt he would have got near it with the dogs outside!

Another PMT Online one for you. Ordered a Helix last week on 18 months 0% finance. All smooth until day of delivery. I usually get such things delivered to work as a) it cuts out the unpleasant "how much did that cost" conversation at home and b) I don't have to make runs to courier depots to pick things up since, invariably, there's nobody home. Get an email from DPD - your driver Joe will be delivering your package between 12.48 and 13.48... Keeping an eye on DPD tracking page shows delivered and I haven't received it (not really out of the ordinary - my work is spread out across 9 units in a technology park, deliveries usually go to reception or goods inwards rather than individual units)... Ring around reception and goods inwards at work. No sign of it. Somebody in the office must have signed for it when I was out for a meeting. End of the day, still no sign. Off home I go, not worried but a little frustrated. Check postbox on way in the door. Nothing. Not until I open our back door to let dogs out into the garden and trip over the thousand pound box sitting on my back doorstep... Muppets have sent it to the wrong address, despite confirmation email CLEARLY showing delivery address was to my place of work. Now if I were an unscrupulous type I'd be tempted to say it wasn't delivered at all... but I'm not...

I wonder is it lacking low end or does it just have more of everything else? That seems to be a common misconception around FRFR-style cabs...
-
It should have been released last year but his pcb fab messed up and he had to reorder 3 years worth of pcb stock again. There is a prototype pictured on that thread I sent you a link to. It's 125B size (roughly boss sized enclosure), north facing jacks, 3 controls (hpf frequency, lpf frequency and gain), 2 face mounted push switches to turn off hpf and lpf individually, footswitch for bypass and xlr output. No idea on price yet, but his other kits of similar complexity are €70 - 80 including a powder coated and screen printed enclosure.

Julian Pohler's upcoming Vong kit is pretty close to what you're looking for.

Yes, but I'd likely take longer and produce something considerably less professional looking than what Tom could do!

Having owned the CTM30 and Two10 it's a great sounding little rig, but it would only have served as a stage monitor for me in my previous, admittedly LOUD, metal band. I'd have needed PA support. With the MB500 as backup you should be fine though - the Two10 is loud for its size! If you used a dummy load on the CTM30 you could take a line out into the MB500 and use it as a power amp...

Does the Barefaced Two10 sound the same as a pair of One10s?
Bigwan replied to Tradfusion's topic in Amps and Cabs
I haven't tried the One10s but they won't sound the same as the Two10. The crossover in the Two10 low-passes the signal to one of the speakers, so only treble coming from one. Not so with the One10. -

Only as far as body shape goes! I'd spoken to them via email when I was considering getting a custom P built, but they didn't seem interested in changing any of their standard specs to meet my requirements (neck profile, fingerboard radius, nut width). Nice looking basses though.

I've bitten the bullet and have a Helix incoming so I need have a clear out. Up first I have the brilliant Two Notes Le Bass. I've had this a few months and been very impressed by it - much more my cup of tea than the Darkglass pedals I've owned. Interesting feature set. I LOVE the cold fusion mode. Lots of people saying good things on here about these. I'd like to keep it as, for me (IME, IMHO, YMMV), it wipes the floor with the other DI pedals I've owned (Behringer BDI21, Hartke Bass Attack, Darkglass B7K, Darkglass Vintage Ultra, Sansamp VT Deluxe), but finances will not allow. Note it "requires" 12v power - I don't have the original PSU as it was supplied to me with an 18v adapter in error (-ve feedback supplied on eBay since I'd specifically asked the seller about the PSU as the listing showed box and pedal but no wall wart). I have found it worked just fine with my 9v 1000mA pedal brick but it's something to be aware of. I have sourced a replacement 12v 2A power supply which is incoming and will be included in the sale, but the pedal works fine with 9v supply of sufficient current (500mA) if you prefer. As you can see from my extremely amateurish photos it's pretty much as new. a few little marks on the face, velcro on the back, with box and aftermarket PSU. £150 posted in the UK, anywhere else I'll have to get a quote. Only trades I'm really interested in are for parts for my P-bass build - vintage spec pickups, hardware (1/2" Ultralites, bridge, pickguard), etc, but you can always try me!

Whereas I've just bitten the bullet on a full fat Helix with 18 months 0% finance...
