No, but then how many 800w combos have you seen?
-
No, I mean in general Les Claypool is associated with Carl Thompson basses, which makes people want them. I didn't get past the picture so didn't read the blurb.... Must have been because I sicked up in my mouth a little bit at the very sight of the thing!
-
I think the Claypool factor has to be considered as part of the attraction!
-
Never understood the attraction. Hideous thing...

Makes total sense!

EHX Octave Multiplexer clone by the looks of it. If it performs like the EHX is a nice alternative to all the Boss OC2-a-likes (of which there are many!). Good price but I really don't like the form factor.

1590a Big Muff kit now available from pedalparts.co.uk if anyone is interested (no affiliation). Looks a fiddly blighter!

"The 2018 Polar Music Prize is awarded to the American band Metallica. Not since Wagner's emotional turmoil and Tchaikovsky's cannons has anyone created music that is so physical and furious, and yet still so accessible. Through virtuoso ensemble playing and its use of extremely accelerated tempos, Metallica has taken rock music to places it had never been before. In Metallica's world, both a teenage bedroom and a concert hall can be transformed into a Valhalla. The strength of the band's uncompromising albums has helped millions of listeners to transform their sense of alienation into a superpower."

Lots of sfx love there!

I think I've only ever seen one Bassmaster pre for sale here. It's an interesting little unit with a single ended amp in there for power stage distortion. Similar idea to the SWR Interstellar overdrive and one of Warwick's preamps whose name escapes me. If that's the kind of valve warming you're after, the v-type may not be enough, although it's an awesome preamp in its own right. EDIT: also there's this (no affiliation with the seller): What way are you intending to use this? For live use what I'm about to suggest might be more trouble than it's worth but for recording purposes if you can't source any of the above I'd perhaps suggest something like one of the little Ashdown Valve amps, the CTM15 (which has a solid state pre and valve power amp but no DI) and a Two Notes Captor load box/DI, or CTM/LB30 (which DOES have a DI) and a resistive dummy load (or a reactive load if you want to go that far - maybe driving a little bass shaker for extra recording fun with headphones!) or the Ampeg PF20t (has a dummy load built in just for the purpose). Obviously these options are more sizeable than anything else, but still cheaper than something custom made. Although if you go custom made, here's the schematic of the H&K Bassmaster for reference! It'd be easy to change the tone stack to give you more control than the original single tone. Much of the circuitry in the schematic is superfluous if you only use the thing one way.

Buy a Trace V-type preamp. Does exactly what you want and it'd be a lot cheaper than having something custom built. They sound AWESOME too!

A good thing surely! It's a wonder they're not paying you for such high praise!

There's a newer version it seems, but that's not obvious from the website, only Instagram. It has 2 jacks now (I'd guess an in and thru but there's ZERO detail), line in and headphone out... and a power supply input... Definitely prefer the look of the Woojer, but I'll watch this with interest! Still enjoying your Woojer @EBS_freak?
-
I'd thought roughly the same - you would have to be wearing it very high up on the strap for it to make contact, but then it wouldn't have to be on your strap at all, you could mount it to your belt I suppose. I agree that the woojer is the more useful design. Their website is pretty awful. I thought it funny that the video of VW doesn't actually feature him endorsing the thing at all, just turning up to play it. Does more harm than good if you ask me, although their instagram page features VW a few times and Marcus too. There's a competition to win a hand built version priced at $399...

https://www.getbackbeat.com/ Not quite the woojer, but another option. I've a feeling it could end up pricey though...

I owned the M900 for a while before deciding going to in-ears was probably a better use of my money. It's a fantastic amp. As @Higgie says, the tone control is the secret sauce of the amp, and makes it much more pleasing to use than the B*K or Vintage pedals - I bought the Vintage Ultra after the M900 and it just wasn't as nice. It's a really versatile design, but be aware it has its quirks - like the volume control controlling the DI output level, something that was corrected in the M500.
-
That's stunning! I think you've made my mind up - I've recently got hold of an unfinished neck and body to build something similar and had been in contact with Mark about him putting it together and finishing it... Seeing that, I think it would be the way to go!
-
I did, and Tyrone is obviously a moron. But my correction of your geographical knowledge of Norn Iron still stands

***PEDANT MODE ON*** Ballymena is a town in County Antrim, but I get where you're going... ***PEDANT MODE OFF***

Yummy! -
That looks AWESOME! I see the Wilkinson tuners still need fettling to fit. That was a horrible job when I did it for my brother's bass last year.
