  1. I've had all but the thumb, and tried to recreate a 5 string Warwick vibe with my ACG. All were good, but the best 5er I've owned is my current Vigier Excess. Monstrously good in every way.
  2. Neglected she is... You should send her home...
  3. The one (ACG) that got away...
  4. Jon Willis (of the Facebook HX Stomp group - some users may be familiar with his tone sharing) has just posted his thoughts on the SGT. To paraphrase "Winner winner chicken dinner" Long form: " This may become a long post. I had the opportunity to spend the weekend gigging with the Ampeg SGT-DI. I ran it into the FX return of my Fender 800 combo with 2x10 extension cabinet. So it was the sound of the Ampeg and the tonal character of the speakers. Blown away. Period. As much fun as I’ve had with the Stomp over the years, it’s been lackluster for me in a LIVE setting. The Ampeg SGTDI gave me everything I required with minimal tweaking. The first gig Friday I used all 6 IR’s that came loaded and I found the 2x10 and 1x15 IRs to be the best sound off the stage. The 8x10 wasn’t what I was hoping for, but I’m going to experiment with a few other 8x10 IRs soon enough… maybe The SVT setting is huge. Almost too huge at times. And honestly I believe that setting really requires the adjustment of the SGT/Grit circuit to make it pop. The B15 is incredibly accurate. Very smooth The onboard Compression is “ok” not what I think of when I need compression. I found it to work much better as a way to take the “attack” off of the note. Very subtle and it’s nice. Since I’m not getting paid by anyone I can say that you’ll want an actual compressor in front of the SGTDI. That being said. In the DAW the compression and SGT circuit were useful to get some great amp sag sounds. Those same settings didn’t translate as well on a stage. Saturday was spent with no IRs and just focusing on the EQ only with no SGT circuit. The pedal does an amazing job at providing massive low mids that really carry a lot of sonic weight, (an area that the Helix and all the other digital platforms seem to fail to reproduce properly). Again the B15 was spectacular and the SVT sounded like an SVT but didn’t “feel” like an SVT. As I stated before, I truly believe the SGT/Grit circuit will make the SVT mode more convincing. Sunday’s gig was spent using no IRs again but utilizing the EQ and SGT circuits. I managed to dial in a B15 tone that was so convincing, I had to turn around a few times to make sure that I didn’t jump into an alternate timeline or something. 😉 IMHO, Low mids are the key to getting a bass tone to sit in a live mix. And the SGTDI has them a plenty. The low cut switch allowed me to remove my trusty Rolls low cut from the FXloop of my amp. Someone at Ampeg figured out the proper slope of the low cut and it worked incredibly well. Overall, the Ampeg SGTDI is a clear winner. Hands down. This week I plan to deep dive into the SGT/Grit control to maximize the full spectrum of the Ampeg. My #1 complaint is that it doesn’t have a tuner. 🤣 Also, if I can get picky, I think a silver and blue edition would be killer. 😉"
  5. I should qualify my statement by saying I'm playing a 44mm P neck so yeah, closer to a 42mm neck. Something tells me the ABZ4 I had was 41mm...
  6. Is the preamp out the same as one of the jack outs of the capo? Could you send the jack out to the patchbay and take XLR from there, or is the XLR on the patchbay just a passthrough? As you were. Nothing to see here... passthrough only on the MOD1... Lovely looking board by the way!
  7. We're back on! Cancelled order earlier this week, but a very nice lady from Woodsheets just phoned to say they have birch ply stock arriving on Tuesday. Sweet!
  8. Wider than a jazz, narrower than a P if I recall correctly. At least that's what it felt like to me G! I believe I did measure the one I had (long gone now I'm afraid!) but can't find the details now.
  9. It MAY look good... But looks like I'll never know. "Birch plywood is out of stock" email just received...
  10. 360 quid... Would need to be good...
  11. The 2 practice amps I always recommend are the Bass Cube 30 and the Line6 Studio 110, both long discontinued. I had a Line6 for a few years, even gigged it DI'd to the PA. Sounded great! Pokey for it's size (12 inch cube, 80 Watts). Can't recall why I sold it to be honest! I've had a bass cube 30 for a while now. Bought for 80 quid locally. Great little amp. Plenty of flexibility, although I probably use fewer of the features than I did with the Line6. I've never played any of the others you mention I'm afraid.
  12. Resurrecting this as I'm looking to put two of these cabs together. Have the drivers so need the wood and crossover components. Never did I think it'd be so hard to find decent plywood in Northern Ireland. Thought I was sorted with a company that would cut panels of 12mm Baltic Birch to size and post for a reasonable price (as in sub £100 for the 2 cabs), but of course they won't post to Northern Ireland. Anyone got a lead on somewhere that will? While I COULD buy some rubbish plywood locally and do the cutting myself, buying in "kit" form would increase the likelihood of me actually doing it 10-fold!
  13. If this is another Lomenzo in the vein of the Hyperdrive then you win the Internet... Edit: Having read the comment you're talking about, it could be taken to mean the total opposite of what you think... But we'll stay ever hopeful!
  14. Ashdown LB30 incoming!

@LowB_FTW it was DHL, but organised by The Gallery. I'd imagine they get better rates than us normal plebs!

      Cheers man.

I asked the seller of the bass I'm interested if he can get quotes for postage last night, hopefully he gets back to me shortly - and hopefully he just doesn't laugh in my face and say no way will he post it to NI 😅

  15. You haven't mentioned practising with Monique once @msb! Surely she must get jealous!!! Or does she just handle the gigs?
  16. None more black! Ordered the AO clone... Have Aion FX Maelstrom (B3K/Vintage crossover clone) and Ts50 (Traynor) kits, and an OmniCabSim clone waiting to build so depending how that all turns out there could be a big clearout coming!
  17. Interesting... Finding my Alpha Omega Photon & HX Stomp XL combination total overkill for my requirements. My recently acquired Vintage Ultra and an AO clone would probably be more than sufficient if I added a compressor into the equation...
