1.
Looks like you'll get there, but more by luck than judgement! See here, http://www.eminence...._BP1525_cab.pdf and scroll down to pages 19-21. It's loud, but.... Balcro.
Yeah I'd seen that - that's the doc that initially got me thinking about this. I might suck it and see... As Phil suggests I could build another cab if the combo proves too bass shy - Kringle77 on that other bass forum has built a pair of cabs using these and a sealed 6" midrange driver that I'd be interested in trying out too.
2. Can't find TS parameters for the Celestion, Bill. Modelling the BP1525 would tell me what I already know, it won't do LOW, but if it did low enough (i.e.the same as the current speaker does) but louder I'd be happy.
3. I took combo dims and took off 1.5" from width, 3" from depth and 5" from height which left me with 1.728 cut ft, but when you account for the volume of the eminence it'd probably be down there right enough!
4. I'm having one of my crazy ideas again. I have an Ashdown ABM C110, loaded with a celestion bg10-150. Sounds fine at low volumes, but isn't going to set the world alight on its own. I've been considering replacing the speaker for years, and while perusing the eminence site the other day I noticed that the box volume (about 1.7 cu ft) would just suit the Eminence BP1525 if it were sealed. It wouldn't offer a particularly deep low end, or a particularly extended high end for that matter, but I'm after out and out volume from the combo at this point. Thoughts? Have I gone mad
5. Someone on the barefaced Facebook page had a rattling cab the other day and it turned out the tweeter was loose on the flare. Worth a try!
6. Need to clear out some gear so here's a bit of an oddity! Linn Adrenalinn III. Some great videos on YouTube about these. Amp modelling, beat synced effects and drum patterns. [s]£120 including UK postage[/s] *SOLD*
7. I'll plug my fav dirt pedal, the Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive. Great job!
8.
My very modest effort...
Modest? Perhaps in the number of pedals, but not in appearance! That's pretty rockin'!
9. Well played that man! Hard bass to replace for that money...
10. I like the look of the handbox stuff, especially the all valve ones that have been mentioned on here (but they don't seem to be actually making any of them at the minute). Of the other stuff mentioned I've had the Orange Terror and the Walkabout. I think the Orange was the better fit for what you're after. A little more unruly... And oh so LOUD...
11. Excellent basses as standard. Amazing neck. Mine had Bart mk1 pickups and upgraded NTMB pre. Easily better than most £1k+ basses and buried both the EB 5 strings I'd owned.
12. Very tempting...
13.
Yep - Stingrays for me. Up til the last couple of years, I'd primarily played with a pick, and they never seemed to really work for me. Tried 3 of them. Now I play almost exclusively with fingers, and really think I should give them another go...
Don't do it! Bloody awful things... Took 4 EBs for me to realise it
14. The TC is a bit of an oddball though - dead simple on the face of it, but dig into the background and it's stupidly flexible. I quite liked the Carl Martin Classic Optical comp I had a while back. The Budda Chakra is apparently the same pedal. I should say I usually hate compression - this and the 3leaf PWNZOR are the only ones I've used that I've liked, but I've gone back to not using any at the minute.
15. Nice! The RW J I had was good enough to knock my Lakland J off its "keeper" perch. Great, great basses. I'll a 'burst RW P some day...
16. Always laugh when I see somebody say "only 100 watts"... Speaking of Ashdown, what about a CTM100? 19kgs
17. Interested to see how you get on Owen!
18.
done...I asked about the WT100, and especially if it is possible to have one built with KT88 output tubes. Here is the reply: "Hi Mariano, I have one pcs WB100 made on 4xkt88. It gives 180W. It is a very good result. Good enough for any kind of music or event. It has a great power-to-weight ratio. I like this amp but for now we don't have enough hands to work on it. Regards Leszek" gosh...180 watts??? oh my....if the tone is on par and the weight stays in the 30 pounds range....it will be almost impossible to resist!
How much for such a beast I wonder?...
19. GAS is an evil mistress...
20.
Bax Shop have knocked £200 off the B Social Price.....
Yeah... still too expensive...
21. Maybe I'm missing something, but why did you go for the 802 instead of something like the 121p combo? Aux and phones?
22.
I've potentially got the opportunity to pick up a pair of Aguilar db112s. Anyone got any experience with putting the otb500 through this setup before?
No, but a gs112 sounded great with it. The dB cabs use the same driver tuned slightly differently so I'd say they'd probably sound great too!
23. This might be a nonsense idea, but the best cab I've ever owned was a Tech Soundsystems 4x12. Tech Soundsystems, became Tecamp, which is now Eich. German engineered bass gear. Light and VERY loud with an Orange Terror, although a little on the large side (a bit bigger in every dimension than a 4x10). I know there are a few out there so it might be worth a wanted ad in the classifieds section. The 4x10 equivalent is supposed to be excellent too. Both sell for well under your budget as they are relatively unknown.
24.
Argh - It looks like it IS attached the preamp pcb. This could be an expensive fix!
Must have revised the preamp. On my Sire the volume/tone and blend were not on the pcb. That does make things more awkward...
