somebody show me a band that aren't doing a reunion and i'll show you a band that still has some integrity. Les McQuuesn? Crème Brulee? "it's a sh*t business." -
Truest words in the world, EVAAR. Welcome back! Music is one of the few things that has kept me going for the last 3 years, which has been a spectacularly dark time for me. Gigging & practicing with my band, composing & recording - what I've found myself calling "The Redemptive Power Of Rock 'n Roll". Somebody on here said last week - apologies for not remembering who - "you don't choose music - music chooses [i]you[/i]". Can't beat it. Jon.
that's wicked, must pinch. -
no i can't be taught. 2nd most important thing after passion and before a free mind.

don't be soft, Just play!

Well after years of trying to get back into 'it', giving up (more than just playing), and launching failed atempts to play with people who are more intrested in other elements rather than playing, i have finally found that fire again. I decided to play bass for my friends 'project'. its all his songs etc so i am just a hired gun really (even though he insits thats ot the way) And i've gone back to basics, stripped my gear sound and technique right down to the bare bones. FECK ME ITS GOOD. I no longer worry about trying to write a line that;s intresting, different, will make me look cool. I play with the song, relax, enjoy the music, not worry about if abillity is gonna be judged by some 9 string noodeling nonce and rock out. I'll add bits when needed IF needed but not for the sake of it.r field. I am not for one minute nocking more 'adventerous' play but hey music is about fun and passion, coming form the heart and being pure. Not noodling to impress other 'experts' of your field. i am off up stairs my studio* now to rock out. p.s. not drunk *spare bbedroom

Has anyone/does anyone/ will anyone ever experiment with silent practice? let me explain....the reasons most bands dont get anywhere around my end of town is that they can never make the noise they want. so i suggested to my latest band mate that we invest in some sort of guitar pod, (bass taken care of through mxr DI), electric drum kit and some sort of PA mixer with mutiple headphones out put and practice in 'silence'. i was instatly branded a genius and hoisted above the heads of the adoring fans to the sights and sounds of a ticker tape parade on Avenue Street. has anyone else experimented like this? (if not, bagsy my idea and i'm the best) if so what has you set up been like? problems? i jammed like this with a drummer mate last night, it was fun however we didnt have mics so had to communicate through signs and facial expresions as we were to lazy to take our 'cans' off. have a good day.

Just read the new BGM. Dave Swift, looking forward to reading that article....wasn't any good. The gaff in the scarf, dude in sunglasses, somebody else. They all speak utter drivel. I might just be me but i thought i was reading interviews with accountants. nothing against each player but back to listening to bass and not reading interviews for me.* tin hat on. *apart form Mike Watt the man is brilliant bass, spoken, written.
