Selling this nice Fretless Acoustic Bass Because it just hangs on the wall and gathers dust. These sell for between £320 and £350, a fair price would be £150, no exchanges as I am having a clear out. Main gigging bass 79P with a 59 Custom Shop as back up. Recently sold the original 59P, I used to very rarely use that at gigs unless they were special! -

I am selling my MarkBass TA501 head unit that I do not use any more. I bought this in Aug 2008 and the build date is Feb 2008, it has a couple of cosmetic scratches on the top of the unit , other than that its like new and has been kept in a carry case whilst not being used. This unit cost me £880, I still have the reciept, I would like £450 for it, I am not looking for part exchanges as I am having a clear out. You can't beat an all valve head... I'm afraid!

Got the point Dave, wished you had kept your old Ampeg thingy, same with me, wish I had kept my V8 but then I would still be paying either a lot of money to the back doctor or the pair of roadies! However, me thinks I would look bloody stupid turning up to the Dog and Bacon with a 8 x 10 and an SVT, in the same way that I would look pathetic standing on the monster stage with a Kickback 12! And that is why there are so many different setups, some for looks, some for sound, some for weight and some for people who have more money than sense! Current rigs are Trace 1 x 15 Combo with 2 x 10 cab Orange Terror 500 with Epi 4 x 10 and Epi 1 x15 Line 6 Lowdown 15 Kickback 12 And a Mark Bass thing that I don't like much and if someone wants to buy it let me know, think its a 501 head, or it may be a 503. Tried SVT, not my cup of tea, Loved my V8, now got something for any day of the week depending on where I am playing so for me there is no such thing as a perfect rig and I think it is the same for most people which is why the 2nd hand market is so rich with choice. By the way bet your glad that you poped in and shared your thoughts with us! -
icolour 4 sold to Julian, who managed to get the money in my bank account faster than any other person ever, (usally the banks play around with it for 4 days before I get it!) Great comms and a great person to do business with.

Love the colour! it would go nice with my Sonic 55P and 62 Strat in Sonic...... Lucky your not selling and I am not buying otherwise my plan for downsizing could have taken a serious blow.

Today I lost a good friend, the 59 has gone! but the good news is to a good home where it will be played and bring a lot of happines while still increasing in value so best of luck to the new owner hope to see some photo's of it in action and every now and again make sure you post the pictures on Basschat! -
Hi there , I am interested in the '59 , and may soon be in a position to get said 4K. I am new to Basschat , but have been playing/collecting for 28 years ( mainly Precisions + Strats ) . I live on the Isle of Wight , do you have any more pictures of bass ? Many thanks for your time . Martin.
Hi Martin, let me know what picture you are interested in and I will either send you some I have or take some new ones. Strange that I also have been a collector of Strats as well as P's -
If it's an early '59 should it not have an anodized pickguard? I thought the tort guards didn't come out until mid/end of '59? Mind you - who knows with Fender's general dating policy, could be that some parts are early in the year and others later, lol.
I have not seen a ref to when in 59 the tort came in, in the Fender Bass book it just says in 59 that the gold anodized pickguard was replaced. On my Custom Shop 59 I do have a gold one. -

My thought exactly, the point about this Bass is it is a player! you just have to look at the neck and body, this Bass did not live its first 40+ years in a case under a bed the wear is genuine and the re-fin was done around the wear by a very skillfull luthier. Every now and then I offer it for sale, someone will buy this and enjoy it at some point in time, until then I will take it out of its case every now and then and use it either at home or at very special gigs, (which now days get less and less ) -
This is a beauty of a bass, I nearly had it but life got in the way . But yeah, stunner, and Steve is a great guy! Si
Thanks Si, its spent another year in its case and not seen light of day, such a shame as it is crying out to be played!
