1.
This is an absolute bargain I have the TD'3s in the back room for rehearsal and they are excellent for the money
Thanks Tony, I think it will go for a lot more on Flea Bay, just want to get the space back in my room because the TD10 takes up a lot more, so looking for quick sale. Steve
 2. ********Update******* Lots of interest but no buyer here so it will be put up on Ebay with a starting price of £400 tommorow, so if you want it for £375 collected then you have about 20hrs *********************** Just about to put this up on Flea bay but thought I would see if anyone here is interested. I have used this since new in my music room for drummers to use, (cannot play myself!). I upgraded it with a couple of extra drum pads including the snare upgrade. This has served me well and cost over £1k when I bought it, I have now moved up to the Roland TD10, (yes I know I spoil these drummers), so the TD6 needs a new home. I will be looking to get around £400 on Ebay, but would be willing to let it go for £375 to a Basschat member if it hasn't been snapped up on Flea bay. All working order, (or so the drummers tell me).
 3. If only my paint work was original and my name was Greg Lake! 59 P Bass Still I am only looking for half that starting price!
 4.
I do greatly prefer the more yellow bursts of the 60s but financially it's not out of the question. Steve, out of interest, have you another P that you prefer?
My 2 main gigging Basses are 1959 Custom Shop relic in Blonde and 1955P (Jap) highly modified in Sonic Blue. The one I prefer to play is my Black 79P but I have back problems and it is too heavy at the moment. I have used the original 59P before but most of my gigs nowdays do not warrant using a 50 year old Bass that I would have to keep an eye on all the time. Steve
 5.
Someone has to ask... what price are you looking for Steve?
To put those of you that have not emailed me out of your misery, I was looking for £4k+ Which when you think about it is not far off a Masterbuild price, 2 x CS teambuild or 4 x US P Bass.....for a 50 year old sound machine! And thanks for all the offers but I am not looking for a trade, the idea is to downsize my rather large collection to the ones I play, and the ones that are part of my musical history. Looks like I am keeping it for a bit longer, but I will play it now and again just so it does not become one of those Uncle guitars
 6.
Steve, ask for £1,000,000, you don't want to let it go!
It may well be worth that in another 20years!
 7.
Hi Steve Don't sell it!!!! I've been lucky enough to have played this bass when you brought it to the Jam to show it off, and it play as good as it looks (and I'm not really a precision fan!!!) You should keep it. Craig
Thanks Craig, I almost converted you to the P side, high praise for the Bass indeed. I have had a number of interested parties but no takers so it looks like I will be keeping it for a while longer, I think it deserves better than the sharks on evil bay.
 8.
he's already said, it was refinished around the original wear and tear, brilliantly
Thanks Kev.
 9.
Thanks for putting pics up, that is a stunning bass!!! Have any idea of the value of it? Dan P.S Dont sell it!
Thanks Dan, got a good idea what its worth. At the moment I have a number of interested parties but thats all. Not too bothered if it does not sell as the price will most likely only go one way up, but if someone wants it and it is a reasonable offer, (not a silly price), then I will let it go purely because I am downsizing my collection and happy to take a bit of profit on what I paid for it a couple of years ago. Steve
 10.
oh right ok i kind of skim read. In that case, it's a rather cool refin EDIT: wait, if it had been stripped, how do you know where the wear was? sorry if i'm being dense! it is a cool bass though
Some of the wear had made dents and indents into the wood so the re-fin was done around this wear, the rest has been done in line with other P's of that age that I have either seen or had photo's of. That way it is as close as you can get. Joe is a real craftsman when it comes to this sort of thing!
 11.
Dunno, makes a farting noise when you play through it. Just wondered if the amp delivered its full 280w at 4 or 8 ohm
300 watts 4 ohms see here for details British Audio
 12.
Now then folks, my mate has just bought a Trace Elliot combo. It needs a new speaker - the front panel of the amp says "GP7 SM Bass Preamp 300" and it's one of the old, carpet covered 115 combos with the GP7 preamp, 2 red lines across the front baffle, etc. I want to help source a new speaker for him (hence the ad in the wanted section), would I be right in thinking these things produce their full 300 (280w RMS) watts at 4 ohms and therefore, we could probably get away with sticking a 200w 8 ohm speaker in there? In the meantime, if anybody has a 4ohm 400w 15" driver, hit me up!
Speak to Watford Valves, also check their website which will help you. When I changed mine I went for a slightly higher wattage than the original to give a bit of headroom but it still drives just as well. Watford Valves
 13.
I think price-wise I need to be looking at mid-60s onwards! Nice bass and love the dark board.
Thanks Mark
 14. Some one please buy this! I realy do not need another amp.......but those lights look so lovely..........no I must resist!
 15.
I'll do the whipped cream, you do the mojo'd P.
I would say it looks like an early 70's cover, not been touched up or air brushed, and looks in fairly good nick for a player!
 16.
Don't sell it sixshooter, unless you really have to. That's a cracking bass, well done that man!
Thanks Jon, if it goes it will go to a good and careing home! unless my circumstance force otherwise! It does need sharing and not just left sitting in a case, so if nothing comes of it at least it has given a number of people on Basschat some pleasure, (or even wet trousers)
 17.
Yes re-fret understandable - but jolly well done! And the 're-fin' is excellent (Bravewood?).
I am fortunate in that Joe White lives about a mile away from me, he did the re-fin, he has also built a number of guitars for me in the past. Joe is a great guy!
 18.
now, anyone who knows me, knows that P's ain't my tankard of chardonnay, but JeZuS that's BEAUTIFUL! The burst, the dark dark DARK board, the neckware, the body mojo, GAH! it's like deciding what you like best about a kingsized bed with Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightly, Olivia Wilde and Scarlet Johanson, all wearing nothing but lashings of whipped cream and a 'come hither' look! mmmmm....[s]whipped cream[/s] mojo'd P *drool*
I guess you like it then! and who says refin's should not be done....
 19. More Bass Porn
 20.
blimey, thats a lovely deep sunburst, and a lovely dark fretboard, beautiful!
Thanks Kev, pure Brazilian Rosewood!
 21.
I reckon that's had a re-fret - so there's 5 grand off it's price right there.
Only 5k! I cannot imagine that it would have this much play ware and not had a refret at some time, although if it has its been done by someone who knows their stuff
 22. More to follow later
 23.
I could be seriously interested if it is a 'player'. I'm really not interested in having it just for the sake of owning a vintage P... but a player... perhaps. Looking forward to the pics.
This Bass is a player, it sounds great. I think it depends where you want to play it, not for the local jam session, but I have used it at reasonable gigs, and based on the years of ware on it I would suggest that it has been a gigging bass, not found under uncle's bed!
