Hi Steve. I'm assuming that all else is original? If so then if you don't have to sell I wouldn't. This isn't a gigging bass anymore, it's an appreciating asset. When all the original 59's have reached really stupid money the prices of refinished 59's will start to rise. That'll be the time you'll wish you still owned this bass.
Thats why its a feeler, I know that this will go for big money in the future, if I did sell it I will make some money on it because I bought it for a good price, but I feel that having got to 50+ guitars and Basses I now want to keep the ones that I want to play, and some that I have attachment to. Because it sits in its case it does not fall into either category, and yes I am sure I will regret selling it if I do. -
Wow! What an amazing instrument to see for sale on Basschat. These questions will get asked sooner or later, so I might as well throw them up now. What's the situation with all the hardware? Is it all original, or which parts have been replaced? Are there any routs or repairs on the instrument? Other than the refin, of course. Do you have any other pictures? Other than that ..... um, wow!!
From memory possibly one of the screws that adjusts the bridge height may have been changed, other than that I think all else is original on the hardware front, correct pot dates, original screening plate, no routs or repairs other than the usual tip of the scratch plate has been repaired, but it does not notice, I will get some pictures up later. regards Steve -
I am selling off a large number of my Bass and Guitars and thinking I may want to part with my 59P bass. I bought this stripped a couple of years ago and decided it would not devalue it anymore to get an appropriate refin done on it, after all the damage to the price had already been done and it could be reversed. So before even thinking of evil bay I though I would ask is there anyone seriously interested in a fantastic 59 with what looks to be an original case? This Bass has had real use for what looks like 50 years! no relic will even come close, you can see the thumb ware on my avatar above the E string, all original ware has been left exposed in the refin, the neck has years of dirt and sweat on it, there is the usual split by the E tuner that in no way effects the Bass but is seen on many of this age. The sound is pure "P" with original pickups. A couple of Basschatters had a chance to play this a year ago at the Guildford Bass Bash. So do I sell it or do I keep it? Let me know what you think and if you are interested what you would be willing to pay, (yes I know that I will get the usual responses to that one, but its all part of the Bass Chat family I have grown so fond of ).

Hey Dave, I am playing Friday and Sat, don't fancy bringing it along to see what its like in action do you?

I think I was about 15 so that makes it 1970, British Legion in Crawley performing with my best mate Gary, him on Guitar me on Bass. Went to tune my bass up and broke the G string! We went on to play American Pie, something from Echoes Pink Floyd and a couple of numbers that Gary had written, I still have a tape of it and believe me it was not that good! Not sure they were ready for us and our music. I wonder where Gary is now?

That rules me and OBBM out then! much too old
Cheers. It could so easily have been blue but someone had already done one. Your build thread was an inspiration.
Thanks, don't you just hate it when that happens

For the right price my 59 could be available? much nicer than a 64
... and mine - one real and one home made. +1 to the Lollar.
Love the home grown one, nice colour!

How can they say that there is no wood in them and then show a picture of three wooden instruments inside them?
-
Looking forward to trying that one out Dave! will it go nicely with my Epi 4 x 10? what do you think?
-
Here is mine, also has a Loller pickup in it. Started life as a Jap 51P in butterscotch and ended up as a 55P in Sonic Blue.

Maybe Basschat should put a warning on the for Sale part of the site: Anyone found to default on a trade will be dealt with accordingly by the Basschat community! you have been warned... Basschat 2 Criminals 0

Is it worth talking to the police again, if this guy is advertising the bass for sale surely he is now trying to sell stolen goods which is a criminal matter rather than a civil matter? You have proof that a contract was made. Just a thought

Argent; bass player God Gave Rock n' Roll...?
sixshooter replied to thebeat's topic in General Discussion
I was there way back nearly 40 years ago, saw them at Crawley College, G*itarist had holes driled in his G*itar... super cool, and the Bass player had a Fender Mustang with the stripes across the top. Don't remember the lyrics or if they were any good! I was young and drunk at the time. -
Hi and thanks for the welcome. Jam nights sound great, are dates/venues posted anywhere ?
Every Thursday night at the Lion Brewery Ash Also every Wednesday night at a place just outside Woking that the name has slipped my mind but I am sure one of the other BC'ers will direct you to.

Hi and welcome to the Surrey contingent of Basschat, there are a number of Jam nights around the Guildford area so no excuse for not getting out, dusting off the basses and re-creating your lost youth!

Has anyone sent Mr Woods a link to this post on Basschat? he may choose to do something if he knows that his potential UK client base is rapidly going away. Remember the power of Basschat and the case of the scammer! Scammer 0 Basschat 1

Powered Wedge Monitor that can handle Bass Guitar
Thinking slightly outside the box, have you considered a kickback bass combo. Hartke do 10 inch, 12 inch and 15 inch models with a balanced-out feed for the desk. You could use one as a dedicated instrument amp, or feed a mixed signal into it.
Kickback 12 rules! I have one and have used it for many years for very small pubs and practice, it has the wedge cut out so you can tilt it back and is plenty loud enough for a monitor. Also the sound quality is very good. The only problem I have ever had with it is the jack socket needs repair, having said that it has seen a lot of service including jam nights and you know how equipment gets treated at jam nights ^_^ -
Sounds feasable. What are you using?
I used a Sadowsky Pre-amp that I bought off a fellow Basschater last week. It is early days yet but it put a smile on my face on Sunday when I heard and felt the sound out of the Epi 4 x 10 using the Mark SA501, my 55P with single coil pickup and the Sadowsky.
