1. You could try Joe White 01252 520911 near Aldershot. He refinished my 1959 P bass, (see the picture on the left, and yes it is a real 59)
  2.
Quite expensive enough for my tastes, mate. All you need now is a nice watering can to water the plant;)
3. What plant is it that is growing in the pot? Do you think that it needs some water?
  4. When the 55P is finished I will post a picture to you! :brow:
  5.
Have you considered speed dating?
Isn't that the same as a Jam night? I know of at least a dozen bands that have been formed from the local Jam nights around my area...
  6. I am 4 years older than my oldest Bass! The 51 does not count because it is a RI!
  7.
Hi guys, Dave and Steve, nice to meet you. Glad the gig went well. Cheers.
Thanks for popping in Chris, it was good to meet up with you, hope your gig went well as well!
  8.
I'm confused, why didn't you buy a Warmoth body and sell on the original body to cover the cost? Would have saved all the labour involved in stripping the "mustard" off and re-shaping the body.
Could have done that, but I wanted the body contoured in a certain way so I would have had to had a Warmouth body re-cut anyway. And it would have cost me more money in the long run. Besides its a lot more fun this way!
  9. Thanks guy's, I am very happy with the colour, the control cavity had to be enlarged so that it could take the larger CTS pots, and the Bass has lost a fair bit of weight due to the bodywork re-construction. We are trying out a new process to age the Bass so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Hopefully more photo's next week.
  10. The body has now been sprayed but has yet to be polished and aged. The neck is ready to be aged and finished. All work done by Joe White, www.jwhite-guitarworkshops.co.uk overseen by me.
  11. Good to be playing with you again Dave, thought that the practice in the week went well, lets hope it goes just as well on Sat! Whatever happens it will be great fun to get out there again with you, Paul, John and the increadable Ali..... (Nick I know you will appreciate Ali's vocal tallent as much as you did Jill's!) Everyone please come and support Dave, if only to help him carry his Bl##dy great big cabinet, lol The Dark Sixshooter
  12.
i really hope that's a 51 RI Cool project though, makes me want to finish my musicman
You can rest easy, it is a good old Crafted in Japan 51RI. Bought from a fellow Basschatter only a short while ago especially for this task. It should have the paint job done now so I will get some photo's up end of this week.
  13. Blade are vastly underated as both guitars and basses. I have 2 of their guitars one costing £280 and one £500, (original price £1400). Trouble is because they are not a main stream name they do not sell for a lot, (which is good if you are buying but not if you are selling). I would suggest in good condition this would be worth between £300 - £400, even as a prototype, now if it was a prototype Fender, that would be a different matter!
  14. The neck has been stripped and sanded ready for staining and Nitro.
  15.
I was getting really enthusiastic until the word 'relic' came along. Each to their own of course but how about using it for a few years and the relicing will be. 1. Genuine 2. Free Just a thought.
Take your point, I am not looking for something with lumps out of it or body that looks like it has had a orbital sander put on it. The colour of the paint will be aged, and the nitro will be crazed. The rest will come with use. A bit like this...
  16.
so what are the differences between a 51 and 55 then?
55 has the cut away for those of us with a more fuller figure! But it's not going to be any old 55, no its going to have all the electrics replaced, the neck nitro finish, the body resprayed and some of the hardware changed. And then its going to have a light relic.
  17. For those that are interested, the work is being undertaken by Joe White with me adding my thoughts and views in the process.
  18.
'Burst! 'Burst!
Sorry not burst this time, got the 59 for that No it's going to be.........Sonic Blue......with a light relic finish to go with my Strat.
  19.
Nice work. And the grain in that wood is lovely, you should keep it a natural finish. Can't help but feel the original yellowish paint job is a bit much.
It is a nice piece of wood, shame that the lower side is not so nice!
  20. The project has started..... The body has lost a bit of weight and has started to take shape... A bit more sealing and sanding and it will be ready for a paint job.
  21.
I was admiring the pics of this P bass when I noted the image of the truss rod adjuster/end of neck... not much Rosewood left after the neck was made true! http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525044
That is how it was built, mid way in 62 they stoped using the block rosewood and used venear instead. I have a late 62 Strat that has the same construction.
  22. Been using these for the last couple of years, they look even cooler when they start to fray a bit! Had OBBM put the plugs that disconet the signal on one end and they work great. No more noise when unpluging!
