2. Thanks for a wicked day Dave, had an awesome time!!! Those guys are just insane, i need to practice more Mike Stern seems like a really cool guy though, he kept the tone of the event really light and put his thoughts and tips across in really cool ways...lest we forget the main man Anthony though, he's just a mother on that beast of his...and all without a strap, lol!!! Are you guys going to be releasing any of the footage you captured?
3. yeah man, i listened to that album over and over yesterday...Petrucciani's solos are fantastic, his phrasing and choice of note is really inspiring me...i need to transcribe this album, and fast!!!!!!!!
4. you mean you've known about this for ages and haven't said anything...you should feel ashamed of your self!
5. no worries man...just bought this live album off iTunes...some cool stuff on it!!!
6. Just stumbled across this...i can't express how beautiful i think this guys piano playing is...i haven't been moved to work something out so quickly for a long time, i need to work this guys soloing out!!! Oh yeah, and Anthony Jackson is on bass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ERQvYrB0QM
7. hey man...cool stuff!!! Loving the fretless as usual mate, and you've got some cool things going on there...100mph all the man Liking the harmonies/chords around 3:20 I managed to get my Marleaux down to the guys at the Gallery, needless to say, it's playing and sounding absolutely amazing...i can't take my hands of it!!!!!!! Hooray for low set-ups on fretless!!! Nice one mate, Jam
8.
Its the nicest sounding Smith I have laid hands on! I was very taken with it. Go on jammy get some samples up - it will tickle the tastebuds of potential buyers because I fear many will not have heard the unique Ken Smith sound before. Cheers ped
I'm really not keen to do this mate...i want serious interest, anyone who's serious will want to play this first, or know it's right for them...failing that then i will discuss sound clips with them. Me playing this bass will not sound like anyone else playing it as i play differently to everyone else, as we all do...a sound clip will not do it justice in my opinion! And besides, it's not like there's tonnes of people on here interested in it!!! Patience young sir Ped!
9.
I'm amazed no one has bought this. Admittedly these basses are the more budget range (now discontinued) from Ken, but they are still a very high quality, Japanese-made and US-finished, bass. The price is great too, so a bump methinks...
Thank you sir...i've played a few of the hand-made Ken Smiths, the US ones...for me, this one was far more palettable tone wise, and feels nicer to play, the others didn't seem to sit nicely!!!
10.
Jamie have you thought about putting some samples up? I have no doubt this is a nice sounding bass and a great price.
If people who are genuine about it feel they will benefit from hearing it without playing it themselves, then i'd do it. But i'd rather not, in my opinion, either people want this enough to come and try it, or they know how good it is to buy it and have it shipped. Besides that, i don't have the facility to record it...but i feel that it wouldn't be for the best personnally. I appreciate your thoughts though.

14.
Hi again, could you go into a tad more detail about the wear/knocks on the neck for me, sorry to be a pain ;D Thanks matey! Russ
Hi Russ...never mind details, i'll give you pics Knock at back of first fret Knock at 3rd fret marker Knock at back of 4th fret, near the bottom of the neck Hope they help mate. They in know way hinder the playability, nor create discomfort when playing...you don't feel nor notice them at all...but they're there. Thanks Jamie
15. Thanks for all of this guys...i'm in the process of making a few phone calls etc...keep the advice coming please!!! Just one other thing that crossed my mind...what do you guys do about basses, i'm currently selling my 4 string which will leave me with my 5 string F Bass, i've been chatting with my tutor whose opinion i value, and he said teaching on a 5 isn't any poblem at all...just wondered what you guys thought to this? Thanks Jamie
16. hmmm.... If it were a 1 day event, would it be possible to maintain the idea of different genres, perhaps on different stages/bars local to one another...with acoutstic, jams, jazz in afternoons...and say a funk/jazz venue/stage, a rock/indie venue/stage and anything else that might be deemed along these lines. Just another thought.
17.
He's playing Ronnie Scotts with Dave Weckl and Mike Stern if memory serves me correctly
That's correct kind sir, they're playing there Thursday - Sunday (or maybe Saturday, can't remember)

20. Sounds awesome to be guys...i could get at least one of my bands on the bill, if not more, depends how much you want to laugh at me trying to play How would the band side of it be organised/decided? Would it be worth trying to get a relatively well known band to play each night as headliners, letting Basschat bands support, this way gauranteeing a certain amount of the headliner's following to fill the venue...any thoughts on this? I with the whole jazz thing in the afternoons, perhaps, Sunday Afternoon could be a jazz jam? Ooooo yeah...
21. any offers people?
22. Bump...any offers?
23. Hi everyone, Not sure whether or not this has been covered in the past, but i'm thinking of trying to get some bass students, and thought i might give teaching in schools a bash...does anyone have any suggestions as to how i might go about this? Any info or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Jamie
