I’ll throw in a vote for the Orange Bass Terror here, or the newer OB-1’s. Both a pretty much one trick ponies but it’s a hell of a trick and both cover that 70’s rock sound beautifully to my ears.

Going to add the Orange Four Stroke to this, very flexible.

  2. Hey all

I've posted in the wanted section that I'm looking for one and hope its ok to post here as well as I know threads move fast in there. Thornybank did kindly put me onto one but it has the jazz pups in. Ive since updated the wanted thread.

I am after the twin Person pickup version.

If anyone see's one for sale can you let me know please. These basses are like hens teeth.

    Many thanks  :)

@3below and @Raggy - not wanting to go off piste on a FS thread, but am really interested to know whether your BF Dubsters are:

    - the v1 or v2?

    - what else you pair yours with?

    - whether you're getting any low end boominess on your sets and if so how you have dealt with that?

If you've got any clips uploaded of the Dubster being used, that would be fantastic - couldn't find anything much at all on YouTube!

Mine is the V1 version, I bought it new in 2010. I've ran it with a hell of a lot of amps, Markbass LMIII, GK 1001 and 2001 RB's, Genz Streamliner and Shuttle 9.0, Trace Elliot Hexavalve, TC Blacksmith, Orange Bass Terror and currently an Orange Four Stroke 500.

The only amp I feel it didn't work with was the Streamliner, it sounded way too 'flubby', if that's a word, no real definition no matter what I did, to be honest I didn't really get on with that amp at all.

I use it in two bands, one is a Ska/Two-Tone band and the other, a Punk band. Always a P bass (with flats on at the moment) in both bands. I have never felt it was too boomy, apart from with the Streamliner, but I do like a bass tone that sits under the band, saying that, with round wounds on I can get pretty close to JJ Burnel's bass tone with the right EQ settings. What that sounds like out front, I do not know but I have had lots of good compliments from other bass players on my tone/tones. Alex told me that there is not much treble on these cabs and the output drops like a stone at about 1.5Hz, but I have never felt wanting for top end.

Every time I pick mine up (or someone in the band shares) it is a joy to move.  Easy single handed lift into the car.  Used it (again) on Friday at an outdoor gig, endless volume, dial up a good tone, then make it louder, or very loud, or stupid loud.  BF Dubster just delivers.  Does not seem to lack highs to me.  You want the earth to move, this is the correct apparatus.  No connection with seller just a satisfied Dubster user (and I do not need two).

Same here had mine from new and its still my 'go to' cab. GLWTS

My one only came on when the amp was hot ...... not till after a couple of hours practice mind and even then it wasn't very loud.

Ok cheers danbowskill, Andertons did get back to me to say the fans are a little loud on these units, but nothing to worry about.

  6. 2 gigs in now and i am so pleased with this beastie. After 6-7 years of using (a lot of) class D amps, the sound I'm getting out of this is huge. Our guitarist turned round to me and said it sounded so much fuller.

One thing I did notice is that the fan sounds very loud, anyone else notice this?

  7. I've recently fitted the 'C' neck from my Roger Waters sig (which is by far the comfiest neck I've ever played) onto my Blacktop Jazz, but then that has two P pickups on it so I'm not sure where i fit in this thread 😳.

I'm now on the hunt for another neck from a Waters bass to fit back on my Waters bass, if you see what I mean.
