Exactly! Horses for courses.

Yup -
After owning a Berg AE212 for a while, I switched to a Gen 2 Compact and Midget on a bit of a whim, and did not regret it one bit.

Thanks for the review, looking forward to hearing this when you are out next with it.

Thanks Raggy, much appreciated, the Hot Rod Thumper I had was almost there, but I think I`ve now found the solution - in buying another bass. There`s a Lakland Bob Glaub on here, ash-bodied, maple neck, Lindy Fralin pickups and from reviews/comments on Talkbass it seems this will do what I want. I just have to get used to a bass without "Fender" on the headstock - it may be traumatic, but I`m sure I`ll overcome it.
No problem Lozz, sounds like the Lakland will do the job
I know where you're coming from re the Fender logo, took me a few gigs to get used to it -
I've got a Wizard Thumper Plus in my Frankenstein P you can certainly try if you wish.
I'm about to swap the neck and hardware on the bass, so it will be sat round for a while. I have a standard Thumper in my Jap 70's P and asked Andy for something the same with a bit more Grrrrr, and he said "I'll make you a Thumper Plus".
It's difficult to describe the sound as it is in a fretless bass at the mo, but it seems to have a bit of poke about it. -

As with most things it's a matter of moderation. I usually get a pint in after setting up and that lasts until the end of the first set. I tend to go for weaker strength beers when I'm playing anyway (under 4% usually) and maybe a half in the second set, so over the time I'm at the pub 1 to 2 pints by the time I'm cleared away isn't going to affect my playing nor trouble the breathaliser.

Same here. -

If I ever use a Jazz bass, always run the neck pickup on full and turn the bridge pickup off, both pickups on full sounds hollow and scooped to my ears.
But I do love a P Bass -
Lovely looking piece of kit there

Sounds lush. That's quite a dark green though, isn't it? Should work well.
That has kind of put me off my morning crumpet!!! :/ -
I like them and fit them to most of my P basses, I play like a thug and they are much stronger than a BBOT, but do not feel they improve tone or sustain (whatever sustain is )

Unfortunately it's had to go back for a repair, as the power now stay permanently 'on' regardless of the position of the mains switch!
Outside of the house I have only used it on one rehearsal, so not enough imo to allow for a comprehensive NAD thread...
That sucks, hope it gets back quickly. -

I have to say the TH500 stood up very well against the Demeter Minnie 800 head on my recent purchasing visit to Bassgear. It also has stuff the Demeter doesn't, like a drive control.
Speaking of which, when can I hear this Demeter in Swindon, any gigs lined up? I am intrigued -
That Sir, is a beauty
You've got me thinking about one now!!!
(And that's coming from someone who only likes black and maple Precision basses) -

If the Big One has an Eminence 3015LF in it then that is causing the problem.
I have a similar cab (fEARful 15/6) which has that driver in it and it distorts with all three of my 500w Mark Bass amps (LM11, F1, F500) but not with my Hartke ah3500.
Hope this helps
Cant see it being that really, not having these issues with either a Dubster or a Fearless 15/6 with a LM3. -
Love these amps, beautiful tone, just not enough clean power for me.

I only have one cab so I can only run it bridged I believe.
In not sure thats the case, check the manual and the back of the amp, the loads are on there. -
Not had a problem with mine running bridged.
Have you tried it in dual mono to see if one of the power amps is at fault?
Barefaced Big Twin 2, worth the upgrade from my 4x12 rig?

Having dealt with both Alex and Mark I'd happily recommend either to give objective advice.
