1.
Aren't Jaguar basses short scale? (rinses mouth out with soap and water) IGMC
yep and thats an issue for me
2. ...... noticed a Fender Squier 'Jaguar' bass. Had some age to it, looked like it had been played; ie the 'newness' had worn off. The ticket said £99, got a feeling they might take an offer? But do I [s]need[/s] want it?
3. At the risk of getting banned from the site, or accused of 'fanning the flames' of hatred, what is the situation at Letts. I followed the story with genuine interest. Did those problems get sorted out in the end?
4. Is this a 'flounce'
5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HOFNER-CLUB-BASS-OWNED-BY-MICK-KARN-JAPAN-VINTAGE-SIXTIES-HOFNER-BASS-/390867961586?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item5b018bc6f2#ht_580wt_923 There are a few interesting bits in the shop
6. Prepare yourself for the "Fender-haters"! I have Fender and Squier and you should try them both
7. At the risk of being pelted with rotten tomatoes, I think Mick's TB sounded better than the Wal
8.
Customers make buying signals and proper sales people can spot these. Sure - part of their job is to sell what they want, rather than the customer wants, and maximise profit
As a salesman myself I have to own up to playing some games with shop staff I dont't like, and PC World is my real treat!
9.
I really rate Amazon, no matter what tax issues there are. I always end up paying less and having that brilliant service. If we ever get to the stage of them stocking American Series Fender gear, then I'll probably use them for that as well. They currently have little bits like MXR pedals, and in the USA they stock Aguilar.
My daughter ordered some trainers off Amazon last week, but they were delivered to a 'suspect' neighbour as we weren't home, when we did eventually get them they were a bit beaten up. My daughter decided to return them. Easter Saturday night we dropped them at a local Budgens 'pick up' point. Monday Morning (easter monday) courier brought replacement! Shame we had to return them, but they redeemed themselves
10. I loved the stranglers, but I was never comfortable listening to JJ singing in that faux 'yob' voice of his
11.
Oil can guitar and bass too:
Does it need 40secs of tuning up before every song?
12.
Indeed. Shops can't compete with the internet on stock or price, so they have to compete on service. Sadly most of them don't seem to have worked that out yet.
Yes, and there seems to be a general, local shop attitude of "you've done the research and you've just turned up to take away the box". Interesting, that supermarkets are offering free home delivery, local shops were doing that 50yrs ago!
13. Making novelty guitar shapes is nothing new. Unless you're just going to hang it on the wall, its about the sound surely?
14. This isnt just about music shops though. Time and time again local shops think 'service' is being able to process payments quickly
15.
Cool f***er, too. Great dress sense.
Way cool, those Brioni suits don't come cheap either!
16. I bought a fretless jazz of Paul. Great guy, nice easy deal (beautiful house and garden!). A nice day out all round!
17.
What happens when a certain person doesn't believe the certificate of authenticity isn't worth the 'paper' it's written on and starts firing off legal warnings? It's not about what 'we' think, but the actions and reactions of a 3rd party. Could we guarantee that a certain someone wouldn't say 'those certificates are a scam etc etc' ?
I was being ironic...
18. If someone was 'given' the responsibility of legitimising any ricks put on sale, how much would they have to charge for their professional services? Perhaps we could call it the "BassChat added value authenticity certificate". It would get the 'once over' from the experts and a certificate of authenticity could be given; there are templates in Corel draw
19. Price can't be an option, all those items on the list are defined by price surely. If price were no object I would choose the most comfortable, toneful, best looking, highly playable bass regardless of price. Whereas most of us have a fixed amount of cash and buy the best we can with the money available
20. Great guy, a real pleasure to deal with. Thanks a lot Phil!
21.
The thing is - if you had seen it in the shop & not been happy with the condition - would you have still paid the price? If the answer is no - then you have every right to send it back under the distance selling regulations & get your money back.
+1 although I have great admiration for someone who can press the "buy now" button on a £3,500 bass without seeing it in the flesh!
22. Thanks for that Rob! A pleasure to meet you
23. Great guy, bought a PC off him last year and a pleasure to deal with. Only just sorting out my feedback!
