Hi guys, has anyone a lead on where to get a replacement for my 8 ohm 12" gk neo, I usually use 2 1x12s with my RB 1001 but last nights gig was real tight on space so I used 1 cab and 10 mins from the end, smoke and then a frozen voice coil. boo hoo, so Ive mailed gk, checked out thomanns site but a uk speaker supplier would be cool, or maybe someone elses 300w 8 ohm 12" neo, thanks all.

Bump...I owned a g4 mac, they are very worrying....they just work perfectly, with no fuss...

I had my 79 ray, from new refretted in the mid to late 80s as I wore the originals out, but I did stress to do a careful job and not to refinish ithe fingerboard, its a maple board, its now 2009 and if some one wants to buy it get yer big fat wad out or i'll keep it, saying that, it aint for sale anyway, so erm...no to your question if done right its not a problem. IMHO.

It is a studio mistake that was left in, I think bowie says " get back on it " then theres the lift, if you buzz thru it with you tube a few time youll breeze it.

Serial Number W2036. Manufacturerd 1982. I await your report Nik. Craziest story ever I totally agree, I dont remember prime time, but clink and terminal stick in my london reh studio days.

The mutes have gone from my ray, but they are still on my sabre and I reckon the old black and decker flat sander had an adhesive pad made of charcoal coloured sponge of around the same density that had a self adhesive back on it and I had a strip of it to use as replacment damper pads, guess what..I cant find it, i'll go for another look and send you a strip if I can find it.

Repaired not serviced, as if they repair a fult usually it'll get a bench test and a squirt here and there then good as new.

Bump, do you want to be more specific on your trades, it may raise a few interesting objects from the members vaults. I know you did at the top of the thread...

cool, thats way cheaper than a pair of new mackies and better kit by a mile, now essex you say, im in essex too, near southend so any good for a meet and a look, the only issue I have is Ive got to sell 2 carlsbro gamma 1x12s and a phonic power mixer, but thats my problem and if my band will stump up the dosh then we could have a deal...but these are all my problems not yours, thanks for the reply, please feel free to pm me to go a little further. regards, Nigel.

If so it is a very sad day for all players. George was a very kind man and I often kidded around with him at the G&L booth at NAMM. One time Will Ray was just up there wailing away and I nudged george to go show him how it was done old school. George laughed pretty hard at that idea. Said his skills weren't quite like the old days.
Thanks for all you have given us George and RIP.
You have to take the old driver out and identify exactly what it is in order to replace it. 300w 8ohm 12" is not sufficient information.
I took it out last night when I got in, its sitting on the table, it has no info on it apart from a printed s/n on the cone, so what more info could there be ??? As far as I go back (30 years) the only info you ever needed was impedance and wattage and of course the hz frequencie for a bass speaker. please tell me more???
regards, Nig.
