  1. I can't abide backing tracks, but I'd rather listen to a live vocalist with a bank of pre-programmed nonsense than a disco!
  2. Someone's already mentioned it but I tend to have mine slung at the same height when sitting to when standing up...
  3. Recently I've been getting GAS for one of these... Never used to, but I've recently started to love the look and design of these. Everything about them seems to suggest that they would be ideal for me. Where's the best place, if any, to try them out?
  4. I'd much rather work if I get the opportunity. Never done one for less than £400 ranging from pub type affairs to black tie jobs...
  5. We are still on the lookout for a versatile and committed keyboard player for our new established wedding / function band. Rehearsals are currently in Stourbridge (West Midlands). Set list? - basically anything and everything. A really good bunch of experienced 30/40's bunch of folks..... If you know of someone who may be interested, please pass my details on .... Thanks, Simon
  6. I've had my Protec Contego just over a year now and can't fault it at all... Paid around £95 for it.
  7. Sorry, only just logged back onto the thread. PM me your email addresses and I'll forward some stuff on for you.
  8. I traded a bass with Dave a while ago. A thoroughly knowledgeable and friendly chappie...
  9. For scales and arpeggios I tend to use the metronome set at about 80bpm. First time through playing as crotchets (note per beat), and then as quavers, both ascending and descending, raising it a semitone each time. If I cock-up whether a note or timing, back to the very start again!!! You'll be surprised how quickly you develop, if just to be able to stop!!!
  10. Many thanks for the kind offers so far.... It will really prove useful, thanks...
  11. Hi all, I'm looking to attempt to get back into musical Pit work. Does anyone have any scores (either full or just the bass parts) for any show that I could have or borrow? I'd obviously pay for all carriage... Any help would be greatly appreciated....
  12. Just got my hands on a TC RH750 so I'm able to plug my iPhone into the back via the aux in, and then a cheapie pair of Roland Monitor headphones out. Tried it yesterday and it works a treat. Adjusting the volume for the bass doesn't affect the iPhones volume either... I do a lot of transcribing so if I need to add my laptop into the equation, the plan is to go through the DI on the 750 into my small little £30 behringer mixer, and then whack the iPhone and laptop out into the mixer..... Sorted!
  13. Just traded my Genz Benz Streamliner for his TCE RH750. Alan took the time to talk me through all the possible set-ups which was really useful. A very knowledgable bass player. In all, from the very first 'bit' of communication, this was a very pleasurable transaction. Cheers, Simon
  14. If you can, I'd always suggest booking up a few lessons, learning correctly and quickly. Books are ok but never really helped me... Rather like a false economy really.
