My 2 cents, this guy just is bad news...... he has had more than ample opportunity to make things right is "the situation" made him less reliable than normal. As 73Jazz knows, I am quite adept at cyber sleuthing and I have been able to find decent amount of info on this guy, including some people on other forums who had concerns over where their stuff was. He may at one point have been a solid and trustworthy guy, but most criminals don't intend to become a criminal.... it happens over time. If you take money for a service or a product you don't provide it equates to stealing, a criminal offence that can lead to prison sentences of 6 months or more. 73Jazz (OR ONE OF THE HELPERS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF SEAN) go to the police. With the phone numbers you have and some more details I could provide, they could track his ass down I'm sure. No violent acts, no bs, but also no "massaging" or extra "consideration" because somebody might have issues........ this Sean is 23 years old..... Old enough to commit a crime, thus certainly old enough to do time.
He's my age? If my Mum's to be believed, that is officially Old Enough To Know Better. -
I had about 3 months of lessons with one chap (also in Southampton ) until I overheard him saying he reckoned all bass players were idiots to one of his guitar students. I mean, I know we are... but saying it behind my back Youtube keeps its thoughts to itself, it's brilliant.

I wouldn't have them. I'm aware that alot of what I do or choose to buy will be unethical without my realising it, but when given the choice I'll try and take the 'nice guy' route. Having said that, my vegetarianism seems to bug alot of people. I'm not on a crusade and I'm never preachy, but people assume I'm judging them when they pick a burger from the menu and I don't. So I've kept some cows and chickens cheery, but managed to piss off people in the process. Is it worth it? No idea. Each to their own - I just try and get the small things right. If you can get through life 'unethically' and not give a toss, bravo - you're probably having more fun than I am
Quite! This will get sorted without having to resort to violence, intimidation or threatening behaviour. Whilst I am not in any way sticking up for Sean here (believe me, I'm not!), we as a group do not know if there is something going on for him in the background that might be prompting this behaviour. Don't get me wrong, he needs to post the bass yesterday and IS behaving badly, there is no excusing that at all, but there may be something that would at least explain it. Obviously an explanation is no comfort: we want a bass sending, nothing less. There's a few of us in the local area to Sean who are going to find a way to do this and without resorting to anything on the other side of the law!
I'm sure there must be something going on with him, little would explain an otherwise trustworthy seller dropping off the radar like this. I'm just so impressed with 73Jazz's tolerance, especially after phoning Sean and getting nothing in the way of explanation. There couldn't have been a better opportunity to set this straight. Everyone on here, buying or selling, knows there's always a little risk in dealing with a stranger over the internet (especially with something so expensive). It's just a shame to see someone who seems to be more trusting than most get stung like this. -
But whichever way you go - BUY ONE!
I've tried this, I'm fairly sure it can't be done

I'm afraid I've not had any experience with one, but for that sort of money I'd recommend buying second hand. The For Sale section here has some great stuff - you'll get far more bang for your buck than buying new.

Get a tort scratchplate and 60s it up a little, it'll look tasty as. Proof: http://basschat.co.u...-1308247456.jpg

Lesson learned: don't buy a new Warwick, save some money and buy an island in the tropics instead. Come to think of it, most of the woods Warwick use will probably grow naturally on your new island anyway - why not make your own?

It sounds to me that alot of what you're hearing from that Laguna is actually coming from Californication itself. Seems to be blending with Flea just a bit. Of course that could just be my netbook speakers I've never heard of Laguna either. A Squier Jazz is a great starter bass, they can sound lovely with the right amp and a bit of messing around.

My Ric and P-Bass are in need of setups. Can anyone recommend some good luthiers in Hampshire? I know of Brian Hayward in Winchester - he's done some good repairs for me but he's been a bit hit-and-miss with my bandmate's gear. I had a look at the recommended luthiers thread but I couldn't see anyone near me. Anyone have any recommendations/steer-clear-ofs?

I think the Trans Teal Rays are the dog's nutsticles. In fact, I sold a black/black/maple SR4 on here last year - that combo's about as common as you can get but I still had plenty of interest and got a price I was happy with. Put it up for trade, you never know what you'll get and you can always say no
As I take every opportunity to post my (ex) 76P, which I bought from new and owned for 35 years... it's a 'real' relic... http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__1226142 Also worn along the forearm contour...
Brilliant bass - my 77 is in that thread somewhere, it's a twin of yours but with the covers still on it. It's my 97 with the odd wear though, it looks like I took a scalpel and scraped a line of paint out of it down to the wood in a perfectly straight line. Couldn't look faker if I'd actually faked it. -
I don't smoke, but my Ric's previous owner definitely did. I don't mind it though; it just smells used. I still couldn't buy a car or sofa from a smoker, but I do reckon each of my basses smells unique in a good way. I probably spend too much time smelling my basses.

Looks lovely, I think it beats the real wear I've got on my basses. I've got a Precision where my forearm's made a 3 inch line along the top edge where the wood is just showing through. Definitely real wear, but I've somehow produced an almost a perfect rectangle. What I'm trying to say is your Jazz's wear may not be real, but at least it makes sense. -
Anything over 25 years old is considered vintage.
I always thought it was 30. However, I'm now the proud owner of two vintage basses. Chuffed.

I also just picked up a P for a mega deal - a '97 to go with my '77. Might just be the best P I've ever played, love it. Guilt's for suckers.

Yeah, I just prefer the sound of it. It doesn't stop me picking up a guitar once in a while but I'll always be a bassist. I got told at my gig last night that I even 'look' like a bass player. Most people say I look like either a pirate or Jesus
