Ahoy, I'm selling this Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass TB (or Squire Telebass to you and me) for a guitarist friend of mine. It's an Indonesian-made 2008 in near-mint condition. I've taken a picture of the worst damage (a small mark on the back of the bass). Aside from that it only has a few tiny surface scratches on the back. Took me a while to find them. He's only played it a few times and told me he'd never even plugged it in - I did yesterday and this thing is a beast. Genuinely impressed. I've got a video of me aimlessly noodling about on it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWO219WzQcM Note my girlfriend saying I can't keep it. He's put a price of £200 on it but is open to offers. The other thing I should mention is that I'll be out of the country from the 15th, so whilst I'll still be managing the sale you'll be picking it up from his house if you buy it after the 15th. If you buy it before then you'll be picking it up from me. Both of us are based in Southampton, and both of us will make you a cup of tea if you pick it up. I'm afraid I've got no means of postage, so collection it'll have to be. Pictures! (cat stays with me) Cheers

Bright pink one about 7 years old, still going strong.

Yup, insured up to the eyeballs and my camera's up to it. As for dodgy officials, I'm planning on using my English charms to get by them (as well as the wad of dollars stashed in my sock) Not sure about my home being mobile but I've currently got two cars parked outside that aren't either

Cheers guys - to be honest the worries of losing my skills only came up recently because it literally just occurred to me that I won't be playing for quite a while! I guess it's not worth worrying about - trip of a lifetime and all that. Can anyone else recommend places for us to visit, musical or no?

Right, in two weeks I'm leaving to go on an 8-month world trip with my girlfriend. I'm roadtripping across the States, camping in NZ and Australia, backpacking around SEA and taking trains around India. It's something I've been planning to do for years and needless to say, I'm pretty damn excited. Trouble is, I can't take a bass. How do you guys recommend I keep from getting too rusty? Pop into shops and noodle once in a while? Or buy a rubbish acoustic from Walmart to keep until it gets too bulky to hold on to? Also, can anyone give me some good bass-orientated places to visit? So far I've got away with telling the gf that we're heading to the Fender factory and a few vintage shops, but obviously more will need to be done

I thought I'd just be bedding down for the night but [s]you all have such nice stuff for sale[/s] I really like the forum so I'm staying.

Liam bought my Stingray off me. Great guy to deal with, even gave me a deposit on the bass to hold it until payday. Hope you're enjoying it

I find I get something like this (or at least as aggressive) with mine if I solo the bridge pickup and play hard - but then again I don't use a pick. I dribbled over the burgundyglo slightly.

Highish, pretty much where it is when I sit. I'm above the buckle-rash zone at any rate.
If looking for a Jazz, this has def got to be on the list: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=147740 MIJ Jazz, for £350.
It's a beauty, there's also a 2008 MIA that turned up on Gumtree yesterday for £450. Was in the market for a Precision but I can't really ignore many of the Jazzes that have been cropping up. Anyone want to lend me their Jazz for a band practice or 3?

Since the clientele at my band's regular gig venues seems to be going downhill pretty rapidly, I'm in need of a new 'giggable' bass. I love the sound of Jazz basses played alone but I've never had the chance to try one in a band situation. How well do they cut through? My band is very Arcade-Firish in style, but my lines are pretty complex so I'd rather they didn't get lost in the mix. Up till now I've been playing my '77 Precision (which does the job just fine) but there are so many cheap Jazzes out there at the moment I kinda want to take advantage...
Im saying clip 2 now I have heard it (oddly there are more downloads of the first clip?) And here is the weird thing my choice had nothing to do with the tone of the basses, Anyone intrigued by my thoughts?
I think I know what you're talking about, I heard a certain thing in clip 2 that I always hear whenever I'm playing my 'Ray (again, nothing to do with tone). Great minds or have you spotted something completely different? -
So why is living with them a problem? :-s
I wouldn't say it's a problem, they're just quirky. Usually it's a good kind of quirky, occasionally it's not so good (instead of a body contour you have a very comfortable knife-edge). Wouldn't change a thing on it though
