1. I've got a vintage bitsa P ('79 neck/'73 body/heaps of mods) with a dead pickup. It was working but after a few months in its case it's now not. One of the coils is reading 5.5k, the other's at 0 which makes me think it's cooked and needs rewinding. I've tried reflowing the solder at the contact points but no joy. Anything else I could try? The pickup came with the body, and it looks to be 70s Fender to my untrained eye (grey bobbins, decent age to them) except for the fact neither could has a date stamp. Any ideas on what it might be? I love the sound of it so will likely get it rewound unless it's something I could pick up used for cheap! Cheers
2. Hi all, A new baby means I'm doing a lot more headphone practice than I used to, mostly playing along to songs using an aux input. I originally used a Vox Amplug, but it only lasted a couple of months before falling apart. I've since been using a Pandora Stomp, but I find it's a faff to set up and results in a nest of wires on the floor. I've thought about getting a small head I can leave more permanently set up on one of my cabs, while also doubling as a backup to my TH500 - maybe one of these: GK MB200 TC BH250 TC BQ250 Any I'm missing? Looks like most of the truly tiny heads (ELF, BAM200 etc) don't have an aux-in, and the Ampeg PF350 doesn't have speakon connectors so I'd be getting new cables to use my cabs with it. Also read the aux-in on TC amps can be really quiet, any users found this? How about the GK? Cheers for any help!
3. I bought Karl's MM SUB - he got it posted quickly and it arrived the next day really well-packed. One of the nicest guys I've dealt with on here too! Cheers
4. I bought a Jazz body from Tony. Couldn't have been a smoother transaction - very happy!
5. Ace, thanks everyone!
6. Hi all, Hopefully a quick one - I'm looking at buying a fretless VM Jazz (the one I'm eyeing is an earlier Jaco-lookalike with Duncan Designed pickups) to use as a basis for a project. Are the pickups in these standard sizing, with the bridge pickup being slightly wider than the one at the neck, or are they both neck-width? I've already got the pickups I want to drop in there, so want to make sure they'll fit! Cheers

Tim sold me one of his Couch straps - couldn't have been a smoother transaction, and some good chat to boot. Thanks Tim!
8. Bought a set of Wizard 84s from Danny - all as-described and he got them to me really quickly. Would happily deal with him again!
9. Here are mine - Brown: '86 MIJ. This one's got a Wizard 84 at the bridge, and the paint had been stripped before it came to me. It's my number one when gigging - it's lovely. Black: only just picked this up - bista using an S9 neck and an early '70s body (the bridge is mounted further back than usual which I think places it as a '69-'72). The neck's in good shape but the body's lived a life, including having a DiMarzio Ultra J added and the thumbrest moved above the strings late-70s style. It's not quite where I want it to be in how it plays, but it sounds wonderful. White: largely original '77. I've owned it for about 15 years and will never sell it. Sounds immense and plays well but it's not light!
10. Thanks for the replies everyone, all very helpful. I ended up doing as Paul suggested as a quick fix and it worked perfectly. I'm getting buzzing from the P pickup as expected, but I can live with it - it sounds so much better now. Thanks again!
11. Cool, I'll try that - did you get any buzz when soloing the P pickup?
12. Hi all, I recently aqcuired a 70s Precision which has (I think) a DiMarzio Ultra Jazz fitted at the bridge. Each pickup sounds fine individually, but having them both on full makes the E and A strings sound out of phase. D&G both sound as expected, so I'm assuming one half of the P pickup is out of phase with the J pickup. I've currently got it wired VVT. One weird thing is the out of phase effect is strongest when I have the Jazz on full and the P at about 95% - still only on the E&A with the D&G unaffected. I've got another P with an added J pickup that doesn't have these issues - any ideas? Cheers
13. Great chap to deal with - very patient and helpful, and the bass was perfectly packed for shipping. Buy with confidence!
14. Martin Acoustic bass SP mediums. They're still sealed, though the box is a little damaged. I sold my acoustic and forgot I still had these! After a tenner posted. Cheers! NOW SOLD
15. 1m OBBM jack-to-jack speaker cable, in good condition and perfectly functional. Only selling because my current cabs use speakons! I'm after a tenner posted. Cheers!
16. I bought Theo's MIJ P Bass - great guy to deal with, and very up-front about the bass' quirks. Great chap to chat to as well! Cheers again!

18.
I love that blue....
Thanks - it's Sonic Blue, looks great in the flesh. The previous owner had it refinished in nitro just before selling it to me, I love it. How does the P pickup sound so close to the bridge on your Rascal bitsa? I've got an old Hondo which has a P pickup in the Stingray position, it sounds huge!
19. Here's mine - 1988 MIJ Fender jazz body and a 2004 US neck. Most of the hardware and electronics are from my parts bin, but it plays brilliantly! Lowest action of any bass I've had before.
20. Bump! Loads of new pictures and I'll post in the UK for £20.
21. Forgot all about this - bump! The one without holes for the chrome covers is still available.
22.
£1200 is a great price for a new bass, but if you are prepared to hold out you can get one for approx £700 second hand. There is one on here/eBay/Facebook/gumtree in surf green I think in Southampton.
Sure is, it's mine! They're really great basses, and to be honest I'm on the verge of keeping mine if it doesn't sell before I move. It's an older one with the 'classic' Fender body shape and Delano pickups (which I agree are more hi-fi than old-school). I've found the P/MM set up sounds something like a ballsy P/J. I'm guessing the one you played was one of the newer body shapes? I'd love to have a go on one.
