Bass Fingerboard (installation on an existing bass)
Acebassmusic replied to Bass Wielder's topic in Repairs and Technical
Would making a recess in between the end of the neck and the neck pickup work? It would be a lot less work than a new fretboard? I'm thinking of a wider version of the JayDee slap cut......๐คทโโ๏ธ -
Just bought Dave's Cort Elrick NJS5 from him. Excellent condition, comms, packing and shipping etc ๐ Many thanks.

We use this type of clamp - "half coupler"

I dont know as the ADJ's I just set and forget as wall washes. The Ledj 7Q5 are according to the manual. In one band I use them with a footswitch and the other I just link 2 lights together (X2 sets) and set 2 different programs and let run. This was last Saturday night using only 4 x Ledj 7Q5. There was a little ambient light as well from the pub but they'd turned of the main ones.

I've just bought Alan's Glockenklang Steamhammer. The condition was better than some new equipment I've bought! Good comms, packaging and very quick shipping. Many thanks. ๐

D'Addario EXL165TP strings offer on Amazon
Acebassmusic replied to kevin_lindsay's topic in General Discussion
....and for the 5 stringers amongst us they have these at Amazon It's a long time since I bought a good set of 5 strings for ยฃ15 a pack ๐ฎ I have used EXL170-5 strings before but to be honest I did have to do some searching to try and work out what EXL170-5TP were......doh!.....Twin Pack ๐คฃ -
I've just rechecked and the footswitch on Ebay is the same make as the one I use but a slightly different version which is powered by the lighting bar so probably wont work with the par cans. The one I use has an independent wall wart to power it.

Bax - ADJ's I would say 4 as a minimum even though they do give off a decent light. I control them from a single foot controller with a built in sound to light / programs. No need for a seperate mixer unit. Here's one on Ebay

We're working on our lighting options at the moment and have tried out and compared both the ADJ Mega Tripar Profile Plus and the Ledj 7Q5 (RGBA). On price and weight the ADJ wins however the 7Q5 (for me) are the overall winner. You'd need 2 ADJ to appear as bright as one 7Q5. The 7Q5 is more robust, has more flexible colour options and is more direct beam than the wider ADJ. Our thinking (in part) is the less gear we have to buy / store / move / setup / teardown etc but still provide a good show the better. In one of my bands we use four Ledj 7Q5. 2 are attached to the speaker stand legs using clamps and pointed up / across the front of the stage. The second two are attached to the top of the EV speakers via a bolt into the mounting hole. Here's a couple of pictures of the tops.

My 2nd deal with Jeff and it couldnt have gone any better. Nice guy, had a great chat about all things bass (as you do!) and super quick payment for my Mesa D800 amp. Thanks agains and have fun with it. ๐

I'm selling my excellent and highly regarded Mesa Boogie Subway D-800. The amp is in superb condition and fully functional with only a couple of very small coating chips on the rear corners which can be seen (just!) in the photos. It comes with a Mesa gigbag and power cable. I wish more equipment manufacturers made gear as solid as this. Itโs a powerful and flexible little box which I really like. My reason for selling is simply Iโve seen something else on Basschat Iโd like to try. If the other amp goes then Iโll be very happy to hold onto this one. Specs are as follows: โข Class D Power with 8/4 or 2 Ohm Impedance Switch for optimum Power to Load Performance โข 800 Watts @ 4 or 2 Ohms (400 @ 8 Ohms) โข Active/Passive Input Switch โข Play/Mute Switch โข Preamp features: Input Gain with Clip Indicator (O/D LED), Variable Voicing (Flat to Vintage Scoop), Fully Active 4-Band EQ (+/- 12dB of Bass, Low-Mid, High-Mid, Treble) plus Deep Switch (for enhanced low-end) and Master Volume โข Balanced XLR Line Out with Pre/Post, Line/Mic & Ground Lift Switches โข Headphone Output โข Auxiliary Input โข Protection & Limit LED Indicators โข 2 Speakon speaker output connections โข Fan Cooled โข Weight: 5.5lbs Here's a link to the Mesa DD-800 WEBPAGE for further details and it shows their current selling price which makes mine look quite a bargain! Happy to post and will get quotes based on location.

I agree, Lakland are excellent and under rated basses. I have a 55-02. Fun fact - I have a couple of gloss black basses that I struggled with finger marks. Regularly gave them a polishing. Then I read about NOT polishing but just wiping down with a very mildly damp microfibre cloth. ๐ค By jingo it seems to work for me ๐ Back on topic GLWTS

The Line you heard and just had to learn
Acebassmusic replied to KingPrawn's topic in General Discussion
There's plenty of songs I've heard and had to (try) and learn the bassline. Some have been easier than I thought and others deceptively tough little sods ๐คฃ The Liquid Soul one is a "sofly slapped" line which I find a bit of a sod to get it all even....good practice though. ๐ Here's a couple I've had a go at:๐ -
Just bought several CD's off Paul. Great deal, great condition, great comms.....which all result in a great reccomendation from me to him ๐ Thanks Paul

"I am a million years away from it" No, you're not, you just think you're not ready. Best to try and get together with 1 or more people and play a couple of songs you've had chance to practice beforehand. You may shock yourself and it works first time.....if not it just gives you areas to brush upon. It is a big step to go from playing in your living room to playing with others but the sooner you do the quicker you will learn and progress. "one of my objectives for playing bass is joining a band." Great that you've got something to work towards, it gives purpose. "How did you know when you were ready to join your first band?" You don't really! You'll probably think your never ready because there some 6yr old on Youtube playing Jaco. ๐คฃ Forget that and just go for it. Good luck ๐

Earplug recommendations - ACS? Or something else?
Acebassmusic replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
I got my replacement Pro17's about a month ago within 3 weeks of making the impressions so was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting the quoted 5 weeks. My Pro10's were only paid for last week. At least I'm not desparate for them. When I got the new Pro17's I placed them next to my 5 year old pair and could see the physical difference in shape ๐ฎ -
