Although your based in France I'm sure there some similar EU type law / guidance / ruling whatever they call it that we apply in the UK regarding "fit for service". If a TV or washing machine goes but within 5 years, although its out of the initial 12 month warranty, you can argue that its not fit for purpose and get a replacement. I would check on this and get back to the supplier arguing that mics under normal use should last more than 3 years. Might be worth a try.

Just bought a DR Bass cab off Alan. I think he made a mistake and sent me a brand new one because this one looks too good! Very easy deal to do and lightning fast shipping. Thanks again.

When is a bass considered a "high end" bass?
Acebassmusic replied to Cameronj279's topic in General Discussion
There seems to be quite a bit of resentment coming out in a few of the posts on this topic. I'm closer to the end of my playing career than where I began. That fact alone makes me quite sad, but I have quite a few years ahead of me to enjoy yet. I have a few basses, only a couple of which could be arguably considered high end. I don't consider them to be, but others might. None are custom to my spec, so I don't look at them that way. I have worked and played bloody hard over the years to earn the money to pay for what I have. I am considering ordering a Wal, which I guess some would consider "high end". I will pay for it outright with my own money, which I earned. It might have gold hardware. It might not. It might have a quilted maple top. It might have an ebony fingerboard. I don't know. I haven't decided yet. I know I'll have fun putting the finer details together if it happens and I know I'll enjoy playing it even more. I also know that I won't give a flying f*** what anyone thinks of me when I turn up down my local with it for a Saturday night pub gig. I'm not a postman and I don't have a swimming pool. Price drop : Now down to £1,650 plus shipping For sale or trade is my original USA made Conklin Sidewinder Custom “melt-top” 5 string. Lovely bass and I have enjoyed our time together but I’m looking for a change…… I bought this bass from the original owner in the States and have played it for just over 2 years. It was built for him in 1992 and although this is a 22 year old bass I would give it a 9.5 / 10 for condition. No major dints or marks that I can see only some slight surface “scratches” on the battery cover which I couldn’t get to photograph! Bartolini passive pickups Bartolini XTCT-LZ tone control module handling treble, mid and bass Bartolini DTA1.3 dual buffer preamp which controls the volume and blend controls 9 volt electronics 5 piece neck through construction String spacing at bridge 18mm Nut width 48mm Scale length 34” Ebony fretboard 24 frets Gold hardware I believe the melt top is a combination of flamed cocobolo and flamed maple Neutric locking jack Edge mount fret markers Weight 10lbs Serial number 8110-01 Flight case Most Conklins you see in Europe are the Groove Tools Korean models. Have a look at some of the crazy work they do here: http://www.conklinguitars.com/ Trade wise I'm pretty much sorted for basses at the moment but ones I could be interested in are Fodera Emperor, Mayones Jabba Custom, JCR CM or ST, Shuker, Alembic Rouge (only if it weighs less than a small planet....lol), Sei Flamboyant etc. It would need to be a 5 string with active electronics, 24 frets, 17 / 18 mm spacing and strangely enough I do like a highly figured wood top.

Electronic Drum Kits - any advice?
Acebassmusic replied to redbandit599's topic in Other Instruments
We alternate between using an acoustic kit and electonic. The electronic is great but everybody in the band needs to appreciate the differences in using one. We are all used to standing next to an acoustic drummer where you hear and feel the [s]noise[/s] ....er music they are making . When you use an electronic kit the sound comes from a different direction / area and may not be as loud on stage as they are used to. Ideally we have found that the drums are best coming through the FOH PA as this can handle the full range of frequencies. You will also need to feed some back through the monitors for the rest of the band. It doesnt need to be much but enough for good cues and level. If its too much you both defeat the advantage of reduced stage volume and are also working against the vocal foldback. The monitor mix can get mushy. For the drummers foldback we take an aux from the mixer to their headphones so he can hear the kit and vocals as loud as he wants If the drummer is providing his own backline then it needs to be full range for a good sound. It also needs to be positioned behind him. If its to the side or infront he will think its too quiet and keep turning it up!!!! If you can, get the full band set up in a decent size rehearsal room with the line up as if you are playing a gig. This will allow you to trial run all connections and level so that the sound coming out front is the sound you want it to be. Then when you do gigs it should only be little tweaks needed. One thing we found was that the pre-set sounds that were great in a pair of headphones on their own didnt sound that good out front. Through the PA they became quite bass heavy and boomy. I set the PA up in band formation and got the drummer to tweak his sound module until the levels etc sounded good in a band context. Once I was happy I turned the PA speakers around so that he could then hear what would be going out front. When he heard the difference between what he got in his headphones against the PA sound he was back to being a happy bunny again -
Just sold a QSC PLX1602 power amp to Kev. Great deal, very friendly communications and fast payment. I forgot to add the spare earplugs for the neighbours if he gets too "enthusiastic" with the volume knob! Hope you have fun with it. Great Basschatter, deal with him with confidence.

I use JustHost for hosting our site and have been looking at the standard templates they promote from Weebly and Wordpress. They have a wide variety of templates that cover sales, downloads, music etc which should fit your requirements. I have selected a new base line template I want to use and will be updating our site in the next few weeks as ours is currently a bit....well......meh!

For Sale - Nordstrand 3B-5A 3 band on board preamp. Controls consist of 5 knobs and 2 switches (switches can be removed from system) - treble, mid (pull to change frequency), bass, blend, vol (pull passive). I had the pre amp in my W&T and had the 2 switches wired to the pickups for are for series / parallel. If you don't have holes for the switches you can remove them and wire the pickups direct to the preamp. There are wiring details on the Nordstrand site. Overall gain is +/- 10db by a trim pot on the circuit board Bass +/- 12db @ 50hz Treble +/- 12db @ 4khz Midrange +/- 12db@1khz 9 volt system New, one of these would cost £205 and I am looking for £110.00 plus shipping. Heres a few pics of the preamp in and out of the bass.

For sale - A matching set of Nordstrand NJ5FS 5 string jazz bass pickups in Fender size, 100mm neck, 105mm bridge. Excellent condition. I have had them in my Jazz FMT which I have now returned to the normal SCN pickups as I am selling it. These are hum cancelling split coils and would cost £210 new. I am looking for £100 plus shipping.

Withdrawn from sale - a matching set of 5 string Kent Armstrong K5 pickups. These have a lovely warm and rounded tone to them. They contain full-length bar pole-pieces allowing a wide variety of string spacing. The widely spaced coils sample a fairly long section of the string, giving a high-tech but not twangy bass sound. The 4 conductor wiring allows coil splitting, series/parallel, phase inversion etc. Dimensions are 40mm wide 110mm long and 18mm deep. Seymour Duncan NYC soapbars on a G&L L5500
Acebassmusic replied to EmmettC's topic in Repairs and Technical
Nice job! I've just fitted a set into my W&T along with a Pope pre and 3 way mini switches that allow each pickup to be individually series / single coil / parallel ........holy mother of tone monsters! With the EQ flat or passive the pickups have changed the sound from the previous Kent Armstrongs warm and rounded to a clear hi-fi and you can "hear all my [s]mistakes [/s]...er....... nuances". Me likey -
All you would get from the sub is low end....possibly 150htz and below and I think would just sound deep and mushy.

Just booked my weekend ticket and looking forward to all the many varied shapes, sizes, techniques, forms, styles and models of bass related goodness!
