1. A bass like this is worth the price of a cheap flight to pick it up
2. Actually.....me as well please! I need to get myself learning not yearning
3. Personally I like going with seperates for speakers and amps because if one item fails you have a fighting chance of beg / steal / borrowing a replacement. You can always upgrade each bit seperately if you want. Your 15" tops should be able to handle some bass & kick to support your backline OK. (If you're a loud band I would probably go for a seperate sub as well.) You could get 1 power amp and run the tops from 1 channel and the monitors from the other. The monitors would just need a cable running from an Aux line out from the desk to the back of the amp. Your manual will show you how to do it. As for bargains....funny you should ask.....http://basschat.co.uk/topic/231424-2-x-yamaha-p5000s-power-amps-for-sale/page__fromsearch__1
4. I am assuming you have 2 x Hydrive 410 (1000 Watt @ 4 ohm) In bridged mono mode the QSC only uses Chan 1 and provides 1600 watts @ 4 ohms & 1000 watts @8 ohms. You could run a bridged speakon cable from Chan 1 of the amp to your first cab and then a standard speakon from Cab 1 to Cab 2 (daisy chained). This would give you the full 1600 watts at 4 ohms. The sound would be mahoosive! Hope that helps
5. I'm now "Happy" on a Saturday morning....love it
6. Just as it says in the topic, I have 2 rack cases for sale. Each of them is in good condition with all latches and handles working. Postage cost from Aberdeen would depend on where you live. I may be able to deliver locally. 4 Unit case made by CP Cases - [s]£40 [/s]£35 4 Unit case (extra deep - great for cable storage) made by Freestyle - [s]£40 [/s]£35 ....or both for [s]£70 [/s]£60
7. Now Sold For sale (or possible trade!) is my USA Fender Jazz V American Deluxe FMT (flame maple top). Its shown in the original pics below fitted with Nordstrands and a Babicz bridge. I have now changed these out to the original BBOT and SCN (single coil noiseless) pickups which I have shown in the new pics. The Nordstrands are on sale here on the forum. It comes with the Fender hard case. All in very good condition. I have good feedback – links are in my signature. Serial number is DZ4002161 which can be checked out as manufactured at the Corona plant in 2004. Neck is bound rosewood with inlay blocks and the pre amp is 18v active. The sunburst isn’t quite as bright golden as the photos suggest but its still darn pretty! String spacing is 18mm at the bridge and the nut is 48mm. I have just noticed that there are 2 screws missing from the tuner (these dont seem to affect operation). However I will be getting in touch with Schaller to get replacements asap. See link here : http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 I have now dropped the price from £1150 to £990 for the bass and case plus shipping. New photos: Heres a couple of photos I took late last year. .
8.
Is it possible to buy the transmitters for the Sony separately? And if so is it still cheaper to just buy another complete set from Thomann?
I couldnt see on their website any option for just the transmitter. However on E-bay they are going for £230 so it would be cheaper to get the full kit from Thomann.
9. I've just placed an order with Thomann for the Sony DWZ as they have them back on sale for £185....that about £200 off!!!! https://www.thomann.de/gb/sony_dwz_b30gb_guitar_set.htm
10. PLX1602 weighs 21lbs or 9.5kg
11. Here are a couple of Turbosound TXD-115 PA subs. used and in good condition with the usual paint scrapes. Each sub is 1 x 15" 300w RMS with 600w program power handling at 8 ohm. I am currently using a pair as my main PA subs and these are just spares, taking up space. Dimensions are 652mm x 465mm x 423mm (25.7" x 18.3" x 16.7") and 55 lbs each. I originally bought them for when we do larger gigs. I paired them up with my other pair of identical bins for a gig at the Aberdeen Beach Ballroom last year as I thought we might need a bit more weight in the sound. They worked great.....too much in fact that I ended up taking them out and using only one set for a full 5 piece band & drums mic'd up! The cabs have a built in crossover of 12dB / octave low pass at 150Hz. In the manual it says "The TXD-115 includes an internal low-pass crossover network which filters high frequency signals from the bass driver when used in conjunction with two-way enclosures enabling a full range system to be powered from a single amplifier channel without the need for external electronic crossovers." You can come and hear them working if you like. I'm looking for £[s]400 £360 £340 [/s]£300 + shipping which will depend on where you live ** SOLD **
12. I have a QSC PLX1602 power amp for sale. In very good condition, little use and no abuse. I have owned it from new and looking for [s]£275[/s] £250 plus shipping from Aberdeen. The equivalent new currently cost approx £500. I have a total of 3 power amps for sale on the site here. Here are the specs for the QSC: http://roadhogs.net/...QSC_plxuser.pdf The rack cases have been sold so no longer available. [s]I really should have dusted the top better before taking the photos! It looks much worse than it is......better pics to follow I think[/s] Now dusted!
13. I have 2 x Yamaha P5000S power amps for sale. In very good condition, little use and no abuse. I have owned them from new and will sell them separately for [s]£260[/s] £240 each plus shipping from Aberdeen. New, these currently cost approx £430 each. I have a total of 3 power amps for sale on the site. Here are the specs for the Yamahas: http://download.yama...m&asset_id=3028 The rack cases have been sold so no longer available. BOTH SOLD I really should have dusted the top of the amps better before taking photos!
14. I wouldn't worry about using the 1602 with the "lower power" cabs. As long as you use your ears and the cabs dont start distorting then they should be OK. If they start to distort / amp clips then just turn down a bit. I used mine with various configurations of an SWR 4x10 & 1x15 (2 channel), a Schroeder 4x10 & 2x15 (bridged) and Barefaced Big Twin T (bridged) and they always sounded great used for practice at home, small quiet gigs and noisy pub gigs. The higher power gives you a little more headroom to play with. I find its easier to turn an amp down than squeeze more clean volume from it. I upgraded to a Powersoft and have been keeping my 1602 as a backup but think I need to advertise it on here.....
15. Spooky timing! I too have just found that my FMT has lost a "gold" screw and washer. Could you send me the contact details for Schaller by PM (and part numbers if you have them). Thanks, Mike
16.
My wife's idea: nicely displayed, safe from the kids and easy for me to pick one up whenever inspiration strikes.
They look great like that. What hangers are yoiu using?
17. £4k!.......if he sells it at that price I think I may put mine up for sale, add a bit extra and order a new one!
18. Bought some strings off Owen. Great to deal with. Many thanks
19.
Thanks a lot for your views. Very interesting indeed. And I see you've got a Fender FMT Jazz V. I had the IV version of that - wish I hadn't sold it!
Thanks, its a great bass but as I need to thin the heard a bit I'm going to be putting it up for sale in the next couple of weeks!
20.
For those experienced with 5 and/or 6-string basses would you stick with a 4 in hindsight? Or, would you never go back to a 4 now? How easy or hard is it to switch? Would you go to a 5-string first, then to 6? Stick with a 5? Or go straight to a 6 maybe bypassing a 5? etc., etc.
To hopefully add to the good ponts made above here's my 10p worth I made the jump to 5 string about 15+ years ago and have not felt the need to move back to a 4. I have picked 4's up and had a noodle but it just doesnt feel right anymore. Like others have said its not all about the extra low notes, it can be different tone, ease of playing a riff, full length thumb rest etc How hard it is to switch? I think it can be dependent upon what your left hand technique is currently ie: if you play a 4 with your thumb either over the top of the neck or "in line" with the neck then you may struggle to reach and place your fingers correctly. If so, a change to positioning your thumb in the centre of the neck, pointing "across" it will ease things. It may take a while to get comfortable with, but it's worth working on. A 5 or a 6? Depends on what you want to do. 6 gives you lots of options. I played a 6 exclusively for 5 years but went back to 5 as I am more comfortable on a 5, didn't use the C much etc. I found it harder to move from a 4 to a 5 (extra than from the 5 to the 6 - might have been the E string point of reference that initially threw me off.
21. If you're looking for 1U pre amps then you could try one of these. Some are mic recording pre-amps that I've used and do a good job Joe Meek VC6Q Alembic F1X - good but ££ Mindprint Envoice Ampeg SVP PRO, SVPCL, BSP etc..... Demeter HBP-1 - again £££ Fender TBP-1 LA Audio MPX10 Rocktron Blue Thunder Toft Audio EC-1 SWR Interstellar Overdrive Some are discontinued but can be found lurking in second hand form sometimes here on BC
22. My cockles are well and truly warmed now.......good on 'yer Paul, 'tis good to hear good news like this. Have a great Xmas all
23. Dear Santa, As its the season to help your fellow man, would you help me make Pete's wishes (and mine) come true? Please take my well used Monopoly game (its nice to play! ) and swap it for Petes rather nice Overwater. I think that's what he was meaning...... Merry Xmas, Mike (Must keep repeating to myself......"Xmas prezzies for family, not new bass"......."Xmas prezzies for family, not new bass"......."Xmas prezzies for family, not new bass"......Xmas prezzies for family, not new bass".....) This has been a thinly disguised bump for a nice bass!
