  2. I recently bought my Ampeg amp from GAK, excellent service, arrived the next day and even better than described/photos. Highly recommended.
  3. I enjoyed the Vid her other videos are also great such effortless enthusiasm. Really like all the stuff I have heard from New Street Adventure in an ideal world they should/would be huge. Cheers.Paul.
  4. Bought a cab today from an excellent basschatter who comes highly recommended, excellent communication throughout and the cab was just as described so trade with confidence
  5. Ah, but its coming to ME, see what I did there! i'll get my coat.
  6. As above really, tomorrow is a new amp day and it involves lots of lovely valves and the letters A, P and G. I will try to post some photos as obviously if I don't it didn't happen. Cheers Paul.
  7. Now on EBAY
  8. Thanks everyone for your helpful and encouraging replies. HOWEVER, BLUE as seems to be the norm in your posts, thanks for your condescending and arrogant reply I said In my original post that I realised I was not JJ Brunel, all I wanted was some pointers on how he achieved the tone, what equipment used etc I have since watched loads of stuff on you tube etc. But the answer from you was one of conceit at someone who is clearly beneath your lofty heights in both ability and knowledge/talent! I really think you should "check the attitude" there rant over and breathe
  9. We had a band come to my school to play at assembly, the only thing I could remember was the bassists violin bass. Fast forward two years and first proper gig UFO at Guildford Civic hall 1978 aged 16 and I was hooked. So its Pete Way for me. But I have "played" drums and guitar in the intervening years to a very poor standard vou've heard the saying "all the gear, no idea" that was me.
  10. NO longer on hold and final, final bump
  11. not wanting to highjack this thread but does anyone buy CD's anymore I have loads that I want to sell but not sure if the market is there anymore. I guess Ebay is the way to test.
  12. Thanks for the replies, I've got the Precision, rotosounds and pick! covered and can do aggressive. any idea on possible settings on an Ashdown amp (Klystron) to get close. Cheers Paul.
  13. Hi if you can PM me the settings I'd appreciate it. Cheers Paul.
  14. Following on from the recent classic albums thread, I have revisited some of my colleagues suggestions and thoroughly enjoyed relistening to stuff I had not heard for many years. Anyway, I listened to the above track and thought that this (for me) was THE definitive bass tone. Anyone of you knowledgeable folks know what JJ used, I assume a Precision but what else? into the desk and studio trickery? Ampeg? I would like to get as close as possible, obviously I realise I'm not JJ but if part of the tone is the kit than that's a good starting point. Cheers Paul.
  15. The eighties free mag was making music, I had loads and my dear wife decided to take them and all my old gig programmes to the tip when we moved. She thought it was rubbish.
  16. I hear your "script for a jesters tear" and raise you with "brave" equally there have been loads raised that I'd forgotten about - before and after science and a walk across the rooftops although I prefer "hats" by the Blue Nile. Two others that for me are "lost treasure" are Frampton comes alive! and "the seeds of love" Tears for fears.
  17. Close to the edge by Yes, the first album I ever bought (as a 14 year old) and I still think its great now, l would also suggest Seconds out by Genesis
