Are they improvement on the Ken Smiths Nik? Also how do you like the ebs pre-amp?

I think thats the one I was looking at in Maplins yesterday . However I thought I'd throw it into the arena here first

Anybody recommend a good / good value soldering station? My old soldering iron has done me well for the last 20 years , its about time I replaced it . Is there any benefit in the digitally controlled temperature ones? Cheers, Nick.
Hi Nick Only just seen you post, sorry... Yeah, the Prince Albert is a really difficult one so we've stopped playing there now. The audiences we've had at our gigs there have been great but the two guys who run the place are rude as f*ck to be honest. Playing 3 sets until 1am for the same money you get playing other venues where you only have to do 2 sets is bad enough, but the feeling of being used & abused is massively compounded by the awful attitudes of these guys! Good to see you can take the positive out of the situation though... Nik
It's ten minutes down the road , that's the positive Played there 3 weeks in a row in december and that's just about done me in . Band that played the other Friday apparently stopped half way through the last set and said "F88k this, lets go home" ,, and they did lol They're running low on bands to play there now, and I dont think that'll change til they up the ante.

I'm not going to know if I can go or not until nearer the time, so its probably best if I dont commit myself to the bus option... If I go though I'll probably take my L2500 ... Audere loaded Jazz V ....maybe Eggle fretless too
Hey Nick, I wasn't saying they are not good guys .. Just a bit of general advice to shop around, in case Crikey is new to web shopping OG
Hey I know that mate .. it's all good I just pointed him that way because Phill kitted out the brass section in the function band I was in with wireless, so I know he's been doing his homework on it . I'm not affilliated with the company or anything like that. If I was I would've pm'd him LOL Nick.
Well it's been in for a week at the Ashdown dealers. When I rang they said it will be at least another two weeks as Ashdown are out of spare transformers! Maybe they've had a bit of a run on them but I think I'll check with Ashdown. That's a bummer - have a gig in two weeks. Will have to hire something now. Can anyone recommend any good hire firms in north west Kent?
You must know someone that would lend you something for the night? Where's the gig? Nick.
Surf for prices though .. I've not checked many on that site but the AKG bug is currently about 80 quid in Sound Control whereas he's got them on for £200!
For sure .. go ahead and search for prices etc but the guys at sax.co.uk are very knowledgeable in there field. Phill the owner is saxophonist is in a band I used to play in , and still dep for occasionally . It might be worth seeing if he can match a lower quote , worse thing he can say is no Good luck, Nick.

There specs say they weigh in at 12lbs ... they look like they should be lightweight by design . Odd one . Makes me want a bongo even more than I already did
-
Speak to Phill at http://www.sax.co.uk/ .. he'll definitely be able to help your brassmen out with some advice .

It's a buyers market . Lovely bass, and oodles of karma round it

I just bought a phone from Stu and he's a great fella to deal with . No worries at all. Arrived promptly in A1 condition . I know it's not bass related , but it's feedback nonetheless. Cheers Stu, Nick.
Unfortunately not
That's a real shame John , you missed the last one too . I'm not 100% if I can go yet either ... It's only 3 weekends before my wedding , so I really have to make sure I'm up to speed on that side of things first. Fingers X'd
Got kids
Are they old enough to appreciate it, or even better play roadies?
-
Definitely go for it . It may only be a case of him knowing he can call on you if his bassist is busy elsewhere or on holiday etc . Don't worry too much about it taking over from your other band . It is a dep job after all, and if you have prior commitments on a certain date he may want you to play, then he can only respect you for having loyalty to your regular band. Covers bands can be awesome fun , and there is a wealth of knowledge to be had from playing in them. Best of luck Nick.

Blimey , by the title I thought the bass bash had been turned into a bass bass march! lol
