2.
Why not buy Russ's Audere pre (which is for sale further down) AND these? You could have both for a few quid more than a J-retro. Haggling is a good point too (haggle with Russ first)
The thing that puts me off the Audere is that it sounds too much like " Oh Dear" lol
3.
Almost, I found a '66 jazz in a skip!!! Nah, I jest. It was actually a '67.
I was wondering where I'd put that! lol

7. I really wish I could make a decision .. upgrade pickups or put in a j retro
8. Hey Russ .. do you have any sound clips ? How does it compare to a J retro? Cheers, Nick.
9. Just having a look round Laurence's website and came across 2 complete albums to download for the princely sum of NOTHING. Fill your boots ladies and gents Nick.
10. You wanted to try a 5 string and gave up after an hour? lol
11. Out of curiosity, what does the "no buffing " finish mean? Is it kinda satin finish? Its a beautiful bass tobesure tobesure!
12. I saw a certain Mr Manring and a certain Mr Lawson doing a gig together running through an abm 500rc. I have to say it sounded dammmmm good! A UK one that is
13.
except from not having a voice and being quite stiff I should be ok for the bash.
The nurses had a long lasting effect on you then? lol
14.
Oh yes, had to be.
Who? lol
15. I'll probably just be bringing my L2500 Might stick the ashdown rig in too, as it'll save me loading the car up when I get home lol I might be able to help out with transport for anyone down my way. I will need to be on my way home by about 2 though. Playing that night.
16. Congrats you two!! I woulda been up for this if I wasn't off on holiday following morning. Cheers, Nick
17.
Hi everyone, Has anyone heard from Kevin 'bassplayer2106' who was last seen over at BassTalk? He has a deposit down on this bass, but I have tried contacting him via TalkBass, his phone and an email address I found on Google but I haven't heard anything. I am sure he is ok n' everything, but it's odd that I haven't heard back from him considering this bass is waiting for his pickup.
I'll just get my name changed to Kevin in the morning and I'll come pick up that baby tomorrow afternoon ok? lol
18.
Apart from that that has been listed, I also take a 4 pint flagon with me to some pubs with the good beer and take a drop home for later....mmmm
Thats a brilliant idea!! lol
19. Thats just pure class .... I've been a Laboriel fan since his contribution to The Nightfly Nick
20.
For those of us unlucky enough not to see the masterclass - or who can't get down to London on 13th - what else will Mr Jackson be doing whilst he's here in Blighty?
He's playing Ronnie Scotts with Dave Weckl and Mike Stern if memory serves me correctly
21.
I will be collecting the usual £10 from each person on the day. If we get enough people this should cover the cost of hiring the venue and anything over gets donated to charity. I am proposing that this time it goes to the Meningitus Research Foundation. Our local Jam organiser lost his teenage daughter to it a few years ago and he and other musicians do what they can to raise money for research.
That gets the thumbs up from me.
22. There's obviously a cost involved in the venue. Do we need to be sending donations, or will it be sorted out on the day?
23.
...to be fair, that's almost certainly because I sent it in far too late for them to edit it properly... Adrian does a great job of sorting out whatever I'm waffling on about each month, but when he gets it from me 10 minutes before it's meant to go to press, there are bound to be mistakes... must try harder to get my stuff in on time! Steve www.stevelawson.net
I can see Steves school report now..... Could do well if he applied himself !! lol
24. If you have GAS, just go ahead and satisfy it There's no reason why you couldn't string up a 4 string BEAD though .. you'll just need to open up the grooves on the nut a little , to take the larger gauge strings . Buy a 5 string, you know you want to lol
25. Likewise! Looking forward to it fellas ... I'll have to jet by 3 though at latest. Thanks lots Dave! Nicvk.
