13. How weird .. I replied to this thread , and the post disappeared ... anyway .. Congratulations , the bass looks excellent, and it's been a great read ! I've always been a bit curious about the Shuker courses Cheers, Nick.
14. Quote :" but when all is said and done I still had a blast " As did the other bassist ! LOL
15. Thats in beautiful condition .. have you ever played it? lol
16. Ive got one , and it served me well as my main bass for close to 20 years ... havent had to touch rod on it since 1987 . Excellently built .. comfy neck .. as Pete said up there somewhere , lovely warm sound from the neck pickup with a bit of bit from the bridge. 18v preamp gives it some real punch. Saw one go last year with decent photos but same colour as yours , for a think a little over £230, so good one ya ... It's only redundant now due to playing solely 5 stringers nowadays, but it's 3 foot away from me as we speak , and is my main noodling in my bassroom bass. Nick.
17. That's got such a nice vibe to it .... been a bit drawn to them since playing CK's other Cutlass at the bassbash last year ... very nice score !!
18.
This is from the DR site. (scroll down for the bass strings, naturally) The summaries above each string are the same as on the main site, but it also details available gauges...DR strings (PDF)
Excellent ... thanks for that ... I might just order one of each and a/b them on my two jazz's btw ... the strings I ordered last Tuesday night arrived today , they were posted on the Wednesday , so took 5 days. Suits me

23. I'm not 100% sure but I think the threshold before you have to pay vat or import tax is £30 including shipping. So this is just inside that ... I've never had to pay it with my Sadowskys , and they come out at just over £21 posted. I've had delivery vary between 5 and 9 days Cheers, Nick.
Hi nick Thanks very much for the link, ive been paying that for one set of sunbeam from strings direct, ill def be using these guys from now on, i take it theres no extra import tax or anything, also how long do they take to get here. Cheers- LEE Thanks for that . Just ordered up some of my regular strings (Sadowskys) , but might have a change around next time. I know you're e-commerce wary but I thought I'd just give you the heads up on this. The guys I get my strings from in the States are doing 2 sets of Fatbeams for just over £28 shipped. I've been using them for 4 years and I've only ever had excellent service from them . Linky ...
