  1. I've used DHA pedals, VTDI pedal, Orange Terror amp, Randy Jackson Markbass head and then an Ampeg PF500 etc all to get that near impossible wish of a lightweight, loud Ampeg valve head sound. Then in a moment of unusual personal clarity I thought 'what I really need to buy is a fudging valve amp!' D'oh! I discovered/bought a PF50T shortly after that! Couldn't be happier.
  2. Great amps. Good price. Bargain.
  3. Just bought an EQ pedal from Phil. Excellent communications, pedal in great conditional and seems like a top fella too! Thank you.
  4. They sound like Yes meets Alvin & the Chipmunks to me!
  5. Bought my 11 yo son a squier jaguar s/h from here. I play it more than he does. Great fun and pretty versatile with the pj pickup configuration too.
  6. I use a TC mini spark boost. They are very good. Also good to use when the guitarist takes a solo to help fill out the sound from the lack of rhythm guitar.
  7. Led Zep meets Lord of the Rings
  8. Regret selling my 'spare' one this year. Must resist.
  9. So glad I bought mine from Kennys when I did! (Boast Post)
  10. Yes. Maybe. YMMV, etc The past is the past and there is only the now. It all depends on what you want it to do. I love the look and feel of classic cars (especially a Mercedes 280SE) but I wouldn't have one as my everyday car. This will give you a close approximation of the look and sound of the old classic amps but with modern reliability. Plus at just over £400 new with warranty you can't go wrong. However, If you want to spend £2,000 on a 50 year old amp that will get easily damaged in transit and you will struggle to get parts for, knock yourself out. I would love an old B15 but it would never leave the house. Which would be a crime I'm not willing to commit.
  11. Even though I recently bought an Ampeg PF50t, I have no current plans to sell my PF500 as they are: 1. Great amps full stop. 2. Excellent for home practise with the aux input and headphone. 3. Great as a back up amp for gigging if I ever have a valve problem. GLWTS
  12. Canadians are just the friendliest people in the world, especially my aunt Barb (New Brunswick). They are lovely, like Americans on Prozac.
  13. Whereabooots Eh?
  14. Might I also suggest checking out his early 70's movies 'That'll be the day and Stardust'. An absolute who's who of stars in them.
  15. Mark is a top fella. Have confidence in your dealings with him.
  16. I use mine with a Barefaced Super Compact (vintage model). Looks and sounds fantastic, super light too.
  17. If you're mostly looking for clean tones then a valve amp is probably not needed as the gold only really happens when you push it hard to get that lovely warm gritty tones. Just my opinion.
  18. Better latte than never
  19. From Barrister to Barrista?
  20. It also depends on what you need the publisher do for you. If it is purely administration you could probably negotiate a better rate or are you starting out as writers and need them to arrange sync deals, co-writes, artists to cover your songs, etc
  21. Do you like them as people, musicians and the material? If you answer yes to at least 2 of these then it's probably worth sticking it out.
  22. Also the jam night venue might book you for weekend gigs and/or the other musicians there may want you to dep/join their projects. Both happened to me too. Keep your options.
  23. It will probably be a good 3 months before you are gigging. So start by booking yourself up some gigs now. In the mean time pop along to some local jam nights as a band. I have done this. Very valuable. Film it too so you can pop it on your website/social media to make yourselves look busier than you actually are. As said before, it will help overcome nerves too and iron out/flag up any weak spots too.
  24. What about a multi fx unit and a FRFR speaker like the headrush. Should cover both situations.
