Hi Folks, Recently bought a Carillon Control 49 midi keyboard second hand which was working perfectly on the sellers Windows XP machine. I cannot get this thing to load on Windows Vista and all I get is a code 10 device cannot start error. I have tried two hotfixes available from Microsoft to no avail. Carillon went bust sometime ago as they were appparently part of the Sound Control setup. Anybody know where I can get a driver for this keyboard for Vista? Ta
Yep it's shaping up to be a belter Bass Doc brought it along in it's lovely natural Tulipwood state, the only decision to be made was colour..... Shorline gold was an option but went for Antique white with torti.... classic ! Spec is : 1992 USA Fender Jazz 22 fret neck (Actually used to be mine over a decade ago) Tulipwood Body USA Jazz Pickups J. Retro Circuit BadAss Bridge Custom (Doc) Made 4 ply Torti guard Coming to a Porn Section Near you soon !
Similar'ish spec to my Overwater J V which also has a tulip wood body & J-retro, but with EMG Ultrajazz pups and a Hipshot C bridge. The antique white will look stunning imho especially with the tort plate.

Great afternoon, some stunning gear on display and to try and more slappers in one place than a hen night in Blackpool Nice to meet so many NE Basschatters and to talk bass with so many talented people. Roll on the next one eh? Thanks again to WoT and Warwickhunt for the organisation etc. and thanks to Dave Wilson for the kind donation to the running of the event.

Just spotted this thread, so here's one of my SWR rigs, Since this was taken, I've added a second Goliath III (just waiting for a new chrome grill for it at the moment) so that I have the option of the 2 410's for the bigger rock gigs and the 410+115 for other stuff Ooh, and I've also added a new kitchen for Mrs JPJ

Try a Phil Jones Bass 'Bass Buddy' pre if you get a chance. Lovely warm tone, enough eq for most situations and probably the best most musical compressor I have ever used (and I've owned a few ) and all on one knob.

This was such a highly tailored and one-off spec that I guess there was always a risk that the first attempt wasn't going to be exactly what was required. The good news is that you have a stunning piece of woodwork and finishing on which to try the options. Let's face it, we all go through the 'I wonder what pickup x will sound like in my...." question with stock basses, so in a highly customised bass like this, there was a distinct chance that something would have to change after delivery. Anyway, if it gets too much for you, I'll take it off your hands for a tenner

Are we there yet? Are we? Are we? Nearly time for the bassbashbosh, looking forward to it. I'll be bringing, SWR750x Schroeder 21012'a'like Overwater J 5 Home build P 5 Leads, cables, pedals and various other bits'n'bobs which clutter up my gig box Was going to bring the SWR cabs but my back is still knacking from putting them away last weekend and besides, the Schro'a'like is still in the boot from last night

Congrats CK, absolutely stunning. Must be quite a worry when you commission something so personal, so I am really pleased it all worked out for you. One string to many for my limited talents I'm afraid, but I'll be really interested to hear how the midi works out for you.

I'm there, but then again, I might already have said that at the other place. If so, I'll be there from here, not there, ok?

Hmmm this looks interesting. I thought Isobaric was when the two drivers faced each other and were out of phase, but I'm probably be wrong. Didnt Ampeg make an Isobaric 2x15 where the speakers faced each other at about 45 degrees? I'm sure Alex or Bill will be along shortly to add the physics lesson I will be very interested to here how this works out.
*sproing*
Very very tasty. That's the finish I have in mind for my latest project build, though I doubt I'll achieve Sadowsky quality
OK Jon says the wiring has been completed and the bass will be ready for collection this weekend!!! He's left the finish matt for now because he didn't want to mark the gloss finish while he was working on the electrics. But it will be glossed up later in the week. He's also going to try and finish both guitar bodies for me this week so that (hopefully) I can take them back with me as well. It'll be like bloody christmas at my place on Sunday with various guitar parts and stuff to play around on. Growing up is overrated.
Just make sure your digi cam is fully charged that you have plenty of space in your photobucket account. I'm not saying that we are desparate for finished pictures of this baby, but it would be such a shame if you were attacked by a basschat lynch mob so soon after taking delivery of your new bass. Remember, we KNOW where Peterborough is

Bought an OLP Stingray V with Status Graphite neck and numerous other upgrades from Thunder Fingers. Great bass, very honest and accurate description of condition, packaged very well, great friendly communications, fast turnaround. All in all a pleasure to deal with and highly recommended. Buy from this guy with confidence.
How about adding another 8 x 10 and having more of everything?
Like more trips to the chiropractor
I used to play through a GK700RBII and 4 ohm 410RRX You can lay-waste to vast tracts of civilization with that combo, never felt I needed a 15". You get masses of low end rumble from the 410, even with a 5 string. So unless you feel that you need to make more a visual impact than a sonic one I reckon the the 410 is all you'd ever need... Hope that helps!
Whilst the 4x10 + 1x15 setup remains fashionable, I have found that in a practical gigging situation, the 1x15's slower reaction time (somebody will correct me on that I'm sure, but thats what it feels like to me) coupled with the higher output of the 4x10 means the 1x15 adds little to the rig other than height. I'm currently gigging 2 4x10's which gives monstrous low end, crisp mids and well rounded highs.
It's known as the Overwater Original. Just to whet your appetite here's my two... The fretless is apparently the first 5-string Overwater made. Maybe time for an Overwater thread in the porn section?
As far as I recall, this is the Overwater 'C' bass. I almost bought a fretless one off the bassist with Lindisfarne about ten years back, wished I had now. I have a J series 5 string (35", tulipwood body, flame maple neck, rosewood board, 3tsb, Ultrajazz pup's, J-Retro) and its the best bass I have owned by a country mile and then some. I'll be gigging it tomorrow night and grinning sickeningly like a cheshire cat throughout.

I only dep for others, as due to family/work/life reasons I cannot commit to one project full time. As to the special ingredient argument, sometimes a dep can freshen things up and kick the band on a notch but I guess this depends on the quality of the dep.

Thanks again Dave, Another bundle of cables arrived two days after the order. Fantastic customer service, great prices, great product and I particularly like the new bassic bits collars on the cables, nice one! cheers Kev
hi there i decided to line up the 2 bodies to see if they were the same size and shape, i assume the pictures are the same scale as i scaled the picture so that the fret sizes were the same (the reason they appear different is because the SR5 has 22 frets and the SR4 has 21). As you can see, there are several points where the pictures don't match, i inverted the colours of the SR4 to make the differences a bit more obvious.
Cheers mate, thats excellent. I guess it shows that the two bodies are pretty similar in overall shape with the four being slightly longer in the upper horn that the five.
i dont think a 4 body would or should be bigger...the neck on a 5 is only about 16mm wider ..a guess based on 19mm bridge spacing... so i assumed in my earlier post that EB would just use a 4 body and chamfer it for a 5 with neck pocket etc personally i prefer the 5 standard scratchplate but thats me no scratchplate sounds pretty cool....are you going to use the chrome plate for controls
Not sure yet. Was thinking of going with the 20th Anniversary look i.e. no chrome plate, but then again I think the chrome plate looks lush so who knows.
Well does it matter what size the 5 body is if you're just going to be building a 4 style body for it anyway?
Good point especially as I can't find any plans of a Stingray on the net. I will have the OLP Levin body to start from, but wanted to know if there was some other big difference I hadn't already spotted.
havent got a 4 to compare but i was surprised to feel the body so neat and comfy...the chamfering may be doing that i would guess from a production point of view they would start life from the same jig so that common routing could be done the neck pocket would be bigger and the scatchplate of course just modeled to give a better and more pleasing look to a great bass want one? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39305&st=0
Thanks mate, but I've just bought this one as the basis for a project I've had in mind for a while now. I converted to five strings a long time ago, and always fancied a five string stingray but have never liked the larger scratchplate or the big chamfers. Plan is to build a body like the four string in a see-through black stain, no scratchplate or control plate, hence the question about body sizes.

Anybody got any advice about applying a high gloss see-through coloured lacquer to a swamp ash body? The look I hope to achieve is a black high gloss where the grain is still visible. From the experience of my last self-build, I know that this time I will be using a proprietary grain filler (again in Black). Question is, whats the best products to use to achieve the finish I'm after? Ta

A question to all you Stingray owners out there. Is the body on the Stingray V the same shape and size as the body on the Stingray IV? I know that the V has different contouring (the most obvious being the edge chamfer) but other than that, are the bodies the same shape and size? Any help will be appreciated, Ta
