Beautifull bass you have there. How Rock n Roll is that neck shim.Any idea's on what vintage the Embassy No1 packet is. where's mi coat.
The Embassy shim was there when I got her! who knows how long its been there, but Im sure its 100% original and has no extra routs! -
This is going to be a wrench as I've longed for an early Jazz for years, but needs are looming. This is a March 1969 Fender Jazz. In superb playable condition, this is a very well played instrument, I aquired it from a semi pro player who had had it over 20 years. The finish is worn as you can see, there is a tad of fret wear and fingerboard wear, but this is 40 years old and has done countless gigs. The neck is superb and slim and straight. weight is bang on 9lbs on my digital scales. She is fitted with a pair of EMG active pickups, these have been installed for some time, and a non original bridge. There are NO extra routs under the pickguard as the battery is under the control plate. The eq is in my opinion very passive in sound and nothing like the active system on my GB, so she retains a very passive tone across both pups, and plays with a huge and even warmth across all the strings. This is a bass with a great default tone and is why she has seen so much action over the years. All the wear is totally due to natural play wear. The serial number is commensurate with the Fender web site dating system. Gig bag included. I welcome Pm'd offers. I will ship at buyers expense and will insist on insurance or welcome anyone come and try her here (Ipswich) area. I really don't want to ebay this.

I sure hope the winner knows his stuff when he goes to collect, as I'd want to be ABSOLUTELY certain that was original and genuine for that much money.
earlier today this dropped back to £1750!!!!!!!! now its back up to £3200 how does that work, somethingstrange with this!!!!!!!! -
Hmmm so really she has some Hi-Fi sizzle to her but still has the passive jazziness shining through?
well yep but not too much fizzle as the strings are a year or so old!
Don't the EMG's take away some of that essential classic jazz tone Andy?
Well as always its very subjective, but what they do do is make the bass a tad more "urgent" if you know what I mean, the tones are the same and a tad more gritty, but they have that active spark, but not overly, so shes still lazy if you know what I mean, but well you know! Subjective as I say.
Sweet bass, i only wish my jazzer had block inlays looks really nice on sunburst and rosewood imo.
I think its the best vintage combination by far, very trad, again IMHO

I havent porned this one before as shes not as pretty as my GB, but here goes, not the best pics as my daughters messed off with the decent camera to Paris. I think shes still got 40 years grime on her aswell (not the daughter the bass!) I must get round to cleaning her and do some decent pics! This may be For Sale shortly, if anyone is interested, PM me and we can talk. 1969 Jazz bazz, active EMG pups but gladly no nasty routs as the battery is under the control plate, and odd bridge. Very well played as you can see and a superb neck. Enjoy.
Still one the nicest basses I have ever seen. This one and that ebony faced Nordy are definitely my top two. P.
Thank you, i was really lucky to hit on her as she wasnt a commissioned order from me but a chance email to Bernie asking what he had in stock as id always fancied one, and he came up with this one which was built for a show I believe, and was amazingly pretty much what i would have commissioned anyway, i may have added a matching headstock, dont know if that can be done retrospectively? he doesnt carry any stock usually just ordered basses, so i was fortunate, the rest is history, deal was done and i didnt have to wait 6 months. Ive said to the wife, "never let me sell her" but another really vintage jazz has come up and i may have to pawn the wife or the GB or both probably.
OK - first up many more pro players have used GB not just Mark King and whilst he is probably one of the more high profile players, I wouldn't say he defines the sound of a GB... Laurence for example, is at the complete other end of the spectum - virtually no treble whatsoever... and for what it's worth, all of Mark's GBs had dark necks because GBs are supposed to be bright GBs are slap monsters though...! Opinions and discussions are good! If we were all the same, the world would be a boring place. You're right - it is a nice day... and I'm going to go to the pub in a bit and get some scran. Big fat burger I think.
guess it must be me thats not bright then!

Me thinks Ipswich is too far, tho would be a step up indeed.
