1. Always a Jim Dunlop .46 for me Especially if recording but for some reason there's always a Jim Dunlop .60 in my pocket also 'just in case' someone hands me something strung with ropes
2. You're quite right .. I use 45-90 strings also which helps somewhat. Although , on the odd occasion i'm using a bass with heavier strings you can tell a little more 'stiff' is probably required in the plectrum department I'd never use anything more than .60 ... That's how I roll but thankfully we're all different
3. I had an L2000E that could do a very mean Precision ... I did this with it for a friend https://thedyinglights1.bandcamp.com/track/masquerade-2 This is the neck pickup only ... which was only half working too
4. Bryn Merrick on the 1st vid and Algy ward on OGWT
5. and the guy on the other P was the late Bryn Merrick ... who also played a guild when he first joined
6. I’ve always used a .46 even my guitarist friends don’t use anything nearly as thin but you get so much more control I find. I use the same for guitar also
7. He swapped the jazz as I recall .. for the mapleglo ric owned by the bassist from sparks.. which ended up yellow
8. Always played a ric during his time with the damned .. apart from the early 90’s when he rejoined when he used his thunderbird .. there’s the odd YouTube of him playing someone else’s gear but that when he did the odd song here and there as a guest
9. The first clash album was a ric with flats
10. The Damned undoubtably had the first UK punk single with New Rose
11. OLD HORSE MURPHY - Cool , I think i've heard that bass on the youtube gig from sydney from a couple of years back
12. Here's the one in question .. Owned by Paul gray from around the last Rods album 78/79 through the damned black/album strawberries and into UFO .. It was a bass used just for studio/spare from what i gather and he owned it until early 2000's. I know the guy he sold it to and the receipts are from the guy who then bought it from him ...who sold it to me ... can be heard here if anyone cares .... and not for sale... Ever ! as it's the best playing bass in the world
13. It would be daft to assume that George also had his own 'special' signature.??? . The Leo one is evidenced but I've not heard of George Fullerton doing the same ??
14. Did I show you this .... Leo Fenders own moniker done by his own hand .... For Clarence obviously
15. Can't see all the battle scars from that distance
16. Am looking to buy one of these Hofner solids if anyone can help out Thanks in advance Good luck with your bass Paddy .. A bit of TLC and it'll be fine
17.
Is it still for sale?
Just wondering if the VB was still up for grabs thanks in advance
18. Can't fault the man !! Thanks so much for the Thunder 1A ... You've made an old man very happy .. hehheh !!!
