1. Dave, I saw this thread and was about to let you know about this bass but looks like you are already on the case. Hope you sell your amp and bag this bass as I know you miss your old Duck Dunn.
 2.
Of course you can mate
Thanks matey. Will send you a PM now.
 3.
I've just bought the Markbass Traveller 2 x 10 and 1 x 15 to go with my Little Mark Tube 800. To say I am happy is a total understatement. Anyone want to buy an Epifani UL115 going cheap?
Nick, I am looking at exactly the same rig as you apart from the head which I am looking at either an F1 or a LMIII. Can I bring my Ray round and have a play as I am really usure if I should sell my Aggy cabs for MarkBass ones???
 4. I use a MarkBass combo and I am after something to tilt my combo up on stage. So far the only stand I like the look of is this, It is foldable and can take 88lbs.
 5.
He was trying to get into a late bar in Fort Lauderdale & was beaten into a coma by the bouncer. He was pronounced dead nine days later.
Geez, thanks, I never knew that.
 6. I never knew Jaco died from beating beaten up. I thought he was stabbed. Can someone explain how he died. Back on track, I would not be surprised if Jaco was alive today that he would had dabbled with a Warwick Streamer of some sort. Always felt that from the limited listening I have had of his work. I always felt that would suit his tone.
 7.
I guess the simple answer to the original question is because he didn't want to learn his way around a whole new bass. There is a lot to be said for familiarity of an instrument.
This makes a lot of sense to me. My ESP 400 Jazz has been my main bass for over 20 years. Yes I have played many other basses for different periods but my ESP Jazz has always been there by my side. I now have an unlined fretless neck for it, made as an exact copy of the original fretted neck by Mr Shuker and guess what, I can play it perfect as if it was the fretted neck. It is effortless and feels very familiar. I also got a fretless neck for my Stingray but I could not get on it with. It sounded awsome as fretless Stingrays do but the spacing of the notes was just alien. I have just bought a fretless Warwick Jazzman which I collect at the end of the month. It was a bargain on Ebay but I am beginning to suspect that I may struggle with it simply because I will not be familiar with the note placement on the board as well as I am on my ESP Jazz.
 8.
These are called 133 range or something? Annoyingly the Blue pearl which is really cool in the flesh costs more on a Ray 5. I'd say dig you heels in and try and get one with case for a little bit more. What's the best price for a standard one with a case these days?
Thanks for the info everyone. I am actually after a 3rd but thought these looked ok but never seen anything about them on here.
 9.
How much are they?
Andertons had them for around £1100.00
 10. Has anyone seen these new Stingrays. They are still USA but cheaper than normal and come with a gig bag and simplified electronics. Anyone know what thay have done to the electronics that makes them different. Here is the blurb. These new and affordable Stingray basses are made in the USA and feature a 2 band active EQ, and a choice between Maple and Rosewood neck. Music Man have kept the prices down by simplifying the electronics, and providing a gig bag instead of a hard case. These Stingrays are available in 3 simple colours - black, pearl blue and candy apple red. Made to the same build quality standards as the more expensive Stingrays, these basses make the versatile Stingray sound affordable to more bassists.
 11.
plus the end on the fortress is extra-bulbous, lovely! Warwick basses sound and play amazingly IMO, as a general rule, though they've never designed a properly pretty one with the exception of the birdseye maple bodied infinity 5, which is a fantastic looking thing.
Do you not think the Streamer is pretty? I think its one of the prettiest basses ever made and what drew me to it.
 12.
As you know Gareth, ive gone back to MB, albeit a new (to me) F1 rather than the older class A/B heads. I did get to compare both my SA450 and F1, both running flat at one gig during sound check. It was just me playing through my rig while i waited for the others to turn up so not really in a band situation, but at gig levels. To my ears while the SA450 was a very tiny bit thicker, or warmer, in the low end, the F1 has a bit more punch and clarity to it, while still having that nice warm MB tone and still plenty of low end. Both the Streamliner and F1 were the first class D heads ive used, and both came along almost at the same time, and while each has its own character i dont think ill miss the Class A/B heads. I dont regret selling my LMII and SA450, but i do wish a F500 had come along instead of the F1. Same here. While the Streamliner has a nice EQ section i feel its a bit limiting having just the one mid control. I love the filters on the MB heads and although you can get them in pedal form i prefer them in the head. when i can track a F500 down ill be selling my F1. Just a FYI.
Cheers Dave, keep me posted. I bet its not the Ferrari F1 special in red though
 13. I am slowly leaning more towards MarkBass. I have a Shuttle 9 and two Aguilar cabs and it sounds wonderful, but the more I use my MarkBass combo, the more my other rig starts to sound less interesting. I even played some basses the other weekend through a markBass rig in a shop and it sounded fab. So much so that I have already priced up a MarkBass F1 head with a MarkBass Traveller 1x 15 and 2 x 10. Its a slippery slope I know
 14.
It makes me wonder - who the hell buys these things new?
Not me for sure but yes, you have a very good point, £2.5k for a new bass is a bit mad.
 15.
Rosewood burns longer.
and has a more musty smell where as maple has a sweeter smell when it burns
 16.
The way I see this is I have never needed to run any Ray flat out on treble or bass so either could be tamed/boosted to your choice of tone, Id wager using a different cab type or head would make 10 times more difference. Maple is for the win IMO although as you have sunburst gas (seen in other thread) I think maybe rosewood looks better with that finish
HEHE well I better exaplin as you have read my other thread. Sunburst with rosewood would be my choice but I have gone a bit soft for an all natural stingray which in my opinion, only looks good with a maple neck In fact, in my eyes, the best looking stingray is natural with maple neck. So my options have changed a little
 17.
Eh up L long time... Ive found maple necks "livelier" than rosewood, depends what your after, and its only an opinion but if its warm tone rosewood. But bright, happy, slappy growly, Id say maple atb W
Hey up Chuck Ah now thats interesting, bright, happy, slappy although not actually physically slapping is the sound in my head although warm sounds nice also So you did notice a difference though which i guess is a good thing. Thanks matey.
 18. I have only ever owned a maple fretted Stingray and I was wondering if there is any difference between a maple neck and a rosewood neck, either tonally, dimensions or feel?
 19. Considering the reason I picked up bass was seeing U2's Adam Clayton on stage at Live Aid and thinking he is the coolest looking dude on the planet and I wanted to look like him makes my decision really easy
 20.
Wow, that is one hell of a bargain, congrats Linus. Great bass too! Give us pics when it arrives.
Will do. Its at my sisters in Preston at the moment but I collect it at the end of the month. So can't wait.
 21. Well I did manage to bag a bargain on Ebay. I got myself a fretless Warwick Streamer Jazzman, in natural in mint condition with hiscox hard case and all the Warwick accessories for a wonderful sum of £500. Proper German made and from 2005 I think. I just noticed that bass Merchant have updated their selection of Warwick they sell and they have the bass I bought for just under £2400
 22. I've got major GAS for a 3EQ Stingray in Sunburst with Rosewood neck. Driving me bonkers it is
 23.
But now we're on the difference between rehearsing and practising.
Rehearsing is when you do it properly with only a couple of beers. Practising is when you piss about and have lots of beers and end up playing elongated versions of your own songs which then morph into other bands songs which you think sound cool at the time but in fact sound really crap when you listen back to the recordings
 24.
But,if you are practicing material out of a book like 'The Evolving Bassist' or 'Chord Studies'(for example) rather than rehearsing songs, you don't really want to be standing up for,say,3-4 hours.
I can see the benifit to both. If I am rehearsing a set with my current band which is an acoustic unplugged sitting down type thing then I practise sitting. My other bands which have all been standing and fast driven guitar stuff then I would practise standing up. If I am writing or studying then I sit but once worked out what it is i am going to play, I then stand and practise. I guess its a case of horses for courses and what suits each individual and their situation.
