If I am driving then soft drink before, pint of Guinness on stage which usually only gets half drunk, soft drink after. If I am not driving then its a pint of Guinness before, pint of Guinness during which usually only gets half finished, multiple pints of Guinness after and then home at some point for a nice Irish whisky to wind down.

My mates got great heckles but the best one he shouts out at the top of his voice is, "Play one the bass player knows"
Its taken me until i decided to sell the SL600 to actually like it. Bloody typical. Now i have two heads i love (3 including the SA450). Washburn Ab10 eh? My mate has one of those and ive been meaning to borrow it for years. I must admit i struggled to fret the notes cleanly.
Yeah I have been a Washburn AB fan since the day they came out. In fact I was at the launch of them and asked Washburn the question why they have made an acoustic bass but not a fretless model. I explained that I could not understand the logic behind making an acoustic bass instrument but not doing a fretless model. Washburn took my name and a whole bunch of details regarding my thoughts on a fretless model and said they actually agreed with me but never actually thought of it. Some time later they then released a fretless model. Not saying it was my idea but it certainly did come across when I spoke to them of a bit of a light bulb switching on moment If I can find a fretless model then I would buy one also as I may be playing fretless in the acoustic band but they really are super rare.
Cheers guys. Michael, im keeping my SL600 as my main head but have brought (or will do very soon) Clarkys F1 as a back up, and aslo for when i fancy a different tone.
Cool stuff. I just got a Shuttle 9 as my main and I love it. Sounds amazing. Still using the MarkBass CMD112H combo though as my main for the acoustic band. Will be playing a Washburn Ab10 acoustic through it also

I have a Shuttle 6 and a Shuttle 9 and they are amazing. The Shuttle 6 was second hand, bought from Old Horse Murphy on here and I have had no problems with it in the couple of years I have owned it. Awsome amps.
I fixed an electro acoustic guitar which wasn't picking up the E string at all. The owner had had a go at filing down the bottom of the saddle and got it squint, meaning that it wasn't sitting flush and square in the recess. Put the bridge bottom down on a known flat surface - does it rock at all?
Oops I should had waited for your reply as I decided to go all Handy Manny and get the sandpaper out No panick as I gave the saddle a gentle file with some low grain sandpaper. Plus I gave the nut where the G String sits a little file and so far its sounding a little better. Still not perfect but a bit better. If truth be known, it would be nice to have all the strings lower and the G a little louder but for now its better than it was. The G string also seems to be sitting a little higher than the other strings anyway so it might be worth sanding the nut a little more.
Underneath the white plastic bridge there is a piezo pickup 'strip'. Slacken the strings off and remove the bridge (it should just slide out) and make sure that the pickup is seated flat.
Right just done that and it all looks ok. What next? I guess raising the pickup up will raise the bridge and make it worse so would it be wise to file the G string side of the bridge so it sits a little lower?
I presume that you're talking about the problem being with amplified sound, not the acoustic sound?
Sorry, yes, this is the amplified sound.

Hi, I have just picked up a Washburn AB10 acoustic bass and the G string is quite a bit quiter than the other strings. As these basses don't have adjustable bridges and I think the pickup is in the bridge, whats the best way to go about fixing this? Would gently filing down the groove where the string sits on the bridge making the string sit lower work? Any advice appreciated.
Ha! A friend of mine has played/plays bass for both of these.
Ged Grimes???? If so, I'll be seeing him on June 10 with Simple Minds. Tell him I know all the SM bass lines like the back of my hand so I will be listening to him -
I did think about you two as my most likely local candidates
HEHE ah thank you. I am too busy with the two bands I am in at the moment I am afraid. Otherwise I would be happy to help. I am sure Nick would be up for it if he is free. -

Herry Barry, what about Nick (Old Horse Murphy)? -
a spare 20 grand.. which bass shop in the world?
Linus27 replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
Oh my god, £20,000 on a bass? I would struggle to spend £2,000. My list would be a Warwick Streamer LX4 which retails about £1,400. If not, then maybe a Fender Jazz 75 Re-issue which retails about £1,700. If I really had to spend some more then I would probably buy an original 70's Fender Jazz but to be honest, that would probably be no more than £2,000 - £3,000 right? -
I chuckled!! - I want to say that mine is like the 'and finally' story you get on regional news programs after a particularly dry politics report!
So just to confirn, there's no picture of you at the back with your rack out :)

I've not bought a magazine for years as I just read the internet. Most magazines I have looked recently have been 50% adverts although some of the adverts at the back are more interesting than the ones at the front Is BGM still worth getting? Does it have lots of interesting articles or is it mostly adverts? Is Dood one of the boring adverts at the front or more interesting adverts at the back

Personally, I would say that the complete sense to your thread title would be, When you get right down to it ... there are only two basses, a Precision and a Jazz. Currently playing a Precision but I do prefer the articulation and detail of a Jazz. However, if I wanted power, balls and aggresion then it would have to be a Precision. Cracking looking Precision though Jack.

Thanks again for another great list, really helpfull for us who are still finding our way and discovering Jazz. Do you think you could do a trio list of Piano or keys/Bass/Drums as this would be really interesting for me. The list does not have to be whats the best but more of a recommended for people getting into that sort of thing. Oh and more traditional the better if that makes sense.

Nice one Gareth. I still think you would had loved the MarkBass combo but they are not cheap. I should get my acoustic bass in a weeks time or so. Really looking forward to playing it with the MarkBass and going for the full acoustic look and sound.
