1. A few things are jumping out at me here. I have never seen that bridge on an ESP bass and is nothing like the one on my ESP 400 Series Jazz. I have also never seen those tone and volume dials before. Plus, I have certainly never ever seen that head shape on an ESP bass. It might all be 100% genuine but its worth checking out first. The back of the neck should have a serial number stamped on it. Plus, the neck plate should have the ESP logo on it and a serial number. Does it have any of these?
 2.
Sorry to hear about your job losses, I'm interested in the bass but could you tell me the weight please?
Hey thanks. I think its around 9lb 5 if my memory serves me. I can confirm when I get home later today.
 3. Big weekend bump, more than ever now. Got told last night that we are all being made redundant so, I could really do with selling this now. My wife also works at the same place so we are both going to be out of work soon
 4.
Pity you're not in the Market for a Ray5 fretless Linus or I'm sure we could have come to a deal.
Yeah, 5 is to much for me and tonight I just got a fretless neck for my Stingray. Thanks anyway.
 5.
Does your wife know you're a Pete Burns fan, mate?
SHOULD OF BOUGHT THE WHITE FENDER :):):):)
 6.
Oh and look, she's back
I knew you would like that
 7.
Yes Cheers! It's hard to understand but I always did want a Fender, I was just put off by the random quality of them, and some a just plain rubbish, I've only played one USA one that had me thinking about it the next day, and that was a new USA Standard out of four I tried. But this, this is wonderful! It's like coming home. Although I am having to do lots of work on the POD to get it to sit in the mix right. No mad guitars to battle with but lots of keyboard, strings and vocal. I do one thing and it cancels out another, or I get a good audible eq but don't dig on the actual sound. These PODs can be wonderful but they are also a great way of disappearing up one's own arse.
Still prefered the white one
 8.
I'm just waiting for some strange natural phenomena to occur now. Like all the grass turning blue or animals starting to speak Spanish or something equally weird.
You mean that the animals don't speak Spanish? What is it then as I was convinced I could understand them.
 9.
Is it OK to stop ignoring this now?
Only at your own peril
 10. Interesting spin on the discussion Happy Jack and quite true. I think I am pretty close to my basses being keepers. I don't like having a lot of basses around and if I could, I would have maybe 3 and catagory killers like Happy Jack has said. The perfect fretless, the perfect fretted workhorse and something different. I have my perfect workhorse in the shape of my 2008 MIA Precision. I never thought it would be a keeper but I just love playing it. My something different is my Stingray. It was a present from my wife for my 40th to replace the one that I bought with my first record deal and stupidly sold when times were hard. The Stingray, in teal greem always was my dream bass. Thankfully this new Stingray sounds and plays so much better than my original one. My perfect fretless is still not sorted yet but its being worked one. My old workhorse is my ESP 400 Series Jazz. It is the best sounding and playing bass I have owned, played hundred of gigs, TV shows, radios and it pretty contains the history of my playing. As its the best sounding bass I have owned, I am currently having a fretless neck made for it by Jon Shuker. Hopefully this will be the perfect fretless. However, I also adore the Stingray as a fretless and have just bought a fretless Stingray neck so maybe that will be my perfect fretless or equel to the ESP. On the other hand, neither could be the perfect fretless and the search will continue. Yes I would like a few other basses. A Warwick Streamer, a 51 Reissue Precision, a nice Fender Jazz even. However, I just can't see the point at the moment as they won't get played.
 11. Sting was born in 1951. So was Joey Ramone.
 12. These are some of my favourites,
 13.
not very good at this links thing but for me it has to be pino palladino on oleta adams get here if you can,
Here you go. I agree also, truely fantastic.
 14. I say a black scratchplate. Really a shame you not getting that white bass. It was stunning.
 15.
Well, mine are both now on hold for BCers. I will still have my Electra build with the Warwick neck. I am swapping two active German Corvettes, a $$ and a Standard Ash fretless for one of these http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/jb66b.html Yes, maybe I am mad, but I will stop at nothing to get it! You will probably see it in a for sale thread in six months
That Fender is totally gorgeous. Good move sir, truely beautiful.
 16.
I'm 20 and play only 4 stringers I'm quite a busy player but always have groove at the forefront of my mind. My role model is John Entwistle, specifically from 1965 to 1978, as I don't care much for his style or tone from the 80's onwards (all that tapping and synthy stuff) I like to think I'm quite a melodic player too and know my fair share of music theory to this effect! So....that's me really!
I am, 40 years old and only play 4 string fretted and fretless. Part of me is melodic and very influenced by 80's bass players like Derek Forbes, Paul Webb, Pino, Peter Hook etc. Another part of me loves the driving fat full sounding driven 8 that you find in bands like U2, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Green Day and other guitar rock/punk bands. I also grew up listening to a lot of Jazz, especially swing Jazz so I tend to find I do a lot of walking bass lines or runs where I can. To sum up my bass line, the verse would be some kind of melodic hook, the bridge would be a walking bass line that would lead into a driven chorus playing driving 8's.
 17.
im suprised this has not gone Linus.. especially with the US pickups.. IMO. and its only mine, dont drop the price.. this is well worth £400 with the condition and the pups.. a Gig bag and postage!! if i had the cash i would be there... i cant see a bad aspect from this deal...
Thanks Bubinga5, I think the market is pretty dead at the moment but like you say, this is a great price and I am not going to drop it or give it away. I will just wait until things pick up.
 18. Bumpy bump. I am in no rush to sell this and will not drop the price as this is a great price for this bass and includes delivery. If its still here after a few months then I might stick it on Ebay but if not then I will just hang onto it.
 19.
Thanks a lot mate. Hope you're still loving the Aggys
Yep sure am, best cabs I've had. Will arrange a meet soon, either I'll pop around or your welcome here anytime. Plan to go and see Dave over in Farnham at some point when its a bit warmer. Maybe we could both go with some basses and catch up over a coffee.
 20.
Not quite it was pretty much beaten up like that when he got it. The story I recall reading was that he was about to do a video in New York & sent someone out to buy the most beaten up bass they could get and that's what they came back with.
HAHA great story and explains a lot then.
 21.
No....I'm saying that he leaves his genuine '53 at home and tours with a Custom Shop replica.
OK, thats my point. The beaten up genuine 53 must had travelled the world and played to millions of people over the years to get that sort of wear and tear. Its not been sitting around doing nothing all this time. He also spent the early days playing Ibanez Musician fretless. I wonder if he still has it.
 22.
Or not,as the bass he uses pretty much all the time is a Custom Shop replica of his '53 Precision.
Are you saying that his beaten up 53 is a fake and those scares etc are not genuine?
 23. I love Sting's bass and the whole beaten up thing. Its probably travelled the world thousands of times over and hasw played to millions of people. So very cool.
