1. I am thinking about changing my Elise for a Caterham someday as I prefer the front engine rear wheel drive config over the mid engine rear wheel drive of the Elise. Still, its more of a maybe as I would so miss my Elise. I want both is what I am trying to say.
  2. HAHAHA Lotus is not a car, its a way of life. Also known as a headache :)

  4.
Grandad Rock please.
haha well I didn't want to be rude but I admit to thinking it
  5.
I suppose you'd call it Rock covers - Thin Lizzy, G 'N' R, Dire Straits, Bon Jovi, Clapton, Chuck Berry, Quo, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Bryan Adams - all the usual suapects. Three of us are retired and the average age is 57.5, but that doesn't deter us.
Dad rock
  6.
My mate has an Elise & we were sitting in a traffic queue in Pompey when on old chap would down the window of his Jag & said 'my son desgined those' - my mate replied instantly with - 'tell him the f***ing roof leaks'. He didn't know what to say.
HAHAHA yep, they all do that. Mine leaks like a seive.
  7. What sort of music obbm??
  8. If you can get hold of a late eighties ESP 400 series Jazz then this has the thinest neck I have ever played.
  9.
I got in '87 after I sold the Ginetta G12 and used it occassionally however after a longish period of inactivity the clutch seized to the flywheel. None of the known techniques would free it and I concluded that it was going to be an engine-out job. What with work, house rebuilding, redundnacy, music, gas expenditure, and starting a business I never got round to it. I reasoned that if the engine is coming out (only done 45K from new, then I might as well have it rebuilt . In it's current state it has a low value but the value of the car running is about the same as the cost of the rebuild, so no point in doing anything at the moment. It can sit there until I pop my clogs and then my son can have the problem.
HAHAHA nice one. Still, I hope to see it on the road oneday. Shame to let it waste away. By the way, Lakeside Engineering near Addlestone are excellent Lotus guys. All Ex Bell and Colvill.
  10.
there were 2 elites the first one was the predecessor to the elan. and the one after the 7 I think
This is the Elite I know of. As for the other Elite, I always thought it was called the Eclat which is not surprising as they look identical. Elite Eclat
  11.
So we have some Lotus enthusiasts. I still have this one: Unfortunately it hasn't run for many years but one day it will go again. At least that's what I keep telling myself, and Mrs OBBM. Alternatively I'd consider swapping it for a pristine Frogeye Sprite or an early 60's Jazz.
Hey obbm, I would love to see that ruuning again, especially as your about 15 mins (10 in the Elise) down the road from me. Beautiful looking Esprit. What's up with her anyway?
  12.
I had a Lotus Elite 2.2 (the one like the Eclat). One of 173 made, which meant there were another 172 piles of unreliable sh*te taking periodic rests round the English countryside.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I had no idea they made the Elite as a 2 + 2, only the Elan.

  14.
I watched this when it was on TV a while back - and it did open my eyes to Beck's playing quite alot as I'm another one who normally associates him with Hi Ho Silver Lining! Back to Tal though - am I the only one who found the constantly smug look on her face annoying? peace c
Is this available to watch anywhere still??
  15.

My Elise, has mini metro wing mirrors, a cheap £5 rear view mirror, Renault gearbox, Rover engine, Vauxhall indicator stalks and Peugeot dash buttons. It's cheaper for me to run an Elise than it was my Renault Megane on service, parts, tax and fuel. Its just not as practical Anyway, we should get this back onto topic and away from cheap plastic sports cars :)
I used to have an original elan [JAP 4D] Unreliable as hell. but wonderfull, Mixture of bits of cars, mainly ford, hillman imp and others. Service every 3000 miles. twin weber carbs which never seemed to stay tuned, I used to carry a home made 1x15 where the passenger seat should go.
Cool stuff. The Elise reminds me a little of the original Elan. Lightweight, small, simple, heaps of fun.
  16.
Lotus: Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious I had 18 years with a Caterham 7 ..
HEHEHE so far, touching wood, my Loti has been ok and that includes, touching more wood, various trackdays, and hopefully this March, now hugging a tree, it will be ok at the next trackday :) Caterham. YUMMY YUMMY.
  17. Its really common for bands to practise with the volume too loud. One of the best things one of the sound engineers we worked with did was make us go through and set all out volumes. He started out by standing out front and getting the drummer to play the song, then the bass came in and we set the volume for that. Then the rhythm guitar joined in and the volume was set. Then the lead guitar and then vocals. It was amazing how all over the place was the volume levels were and how much clearer and quiter the final result was. After that, it really helped with everything from communicating when writing, expressing certain parts as instruments were not competing with each other, our health and mood was better as we were not shouting or having headaches and everything just sounded so much better. Its really worth trying this and getting your levels set.
  18. Any recommendations of a good metronome to buy?
  19.
linus, good excuse to mention you have a lotus hey?;-) hehe.lovely cars, which one?
HEHE yeah, its the only way I know of Mark. He's a member of Lotus on Track who run Lotus specific trackdays which is what I do. They also have their own race series which is what Mark does and Ashdown sponsors the series. I have a British Racing Green Lotus Elise S1 and Mark did have a Lotus 340R which is based on an Elise. Not sure if he still has it though but it was black and gold I think and looked lush. As for the Elise, yeah, its a superb car. It's funny though as you get two reactions, either expensive sports car or unreliable sports car. To be honest, its neither.
  20. I have spoken to Mark direct as he also owns a Lotus car like me. He races his which I can't afford to do . I dealt with him direct when getting my Ashdown gear. He's a great guy and very enthusiastic. I'll drop him an email and let him know about the great service and good reports. As for my Ashdown, I love it and so far not had any problems and will be looking to get a 210 cab soon.

Hey Ped, not a problem, whenever your ready. Grateful you are helping me out.
  22.
I don't offer muting jack sockets, only plugs. Have a look at this.
Sorry, that was my bad choice of words. What I should have said is on your website under instrument cables, you have straight connector and Muting Straight Connector. What is the difference between the two?
  23. I already got my Stingray on January 3rd but it was a sort of carry over from 2008 so I guess it does not count. So for 2009, I have GAS for, Ashdown MAG 210 speaker OBBM leads/cables If I get very weak, then maybe a Fender 51 re-issue precision in sunburst, A Jap Fender Precision or maybe a Fender Precision 50's re-issue but thats only to complete to perfect collection. I don't actually need one. If during the year, I fall out of love with my Ashdown rig, then i may sell it all and buy something else but at the moment its staying.
