Excellent, thank you @Dad3353

Thank you, really appreciate it. If you ever think what it is then please let me know as we really struggle trying to describe what we sound like 😂

Thank you very much, really appreciate that 😁

Thank you, you should see the back and the fretboard, its stunning 😍

For reference, this is mine which also has a Pau Ferro board and I paid £1800 for it about a year or so ago.

No worries, here's a link to my original thread where I posted the songs 🙂 Recorded through an Ampeg PF20T and a Barefaced Two10 with a DI coming from the head and the cab also mic'd. The Precision was strung with Rotosound flats. Would love to know what you think.

Found this today. Not the best demo but didn't sound too bad.

Ah ok cool and yep, you are right, definitely not a bass 🙂
-
Is the guy on his own the bassist from Snarky Puppy? I recognised Kinga.

No problem, I'll send you a link to the thread I posted on here where you can have a listen. Let me know what you think. The bass I used is the third one down and also the same as the OP was thinking of selling so I know they are great basses and he should definitely keep it 🙂

I'm the same as you, fretless player mostly and grew up listening to the 80's so adore all those fretless players or tracks with fretless and whenever I hear a very obvious fretless Jazz with that nasal, mid bumped tone then I go all weak at the knees. However, I'm finding my own playing tends to be a more rounded, warmer tone, a bit more Motown or thumpy. When I play live with my fretless Jazz, I still have both pickups on full, tone set in the middle and play more at the neck or neck pickup. Yes I get the slides and vibrato but it's way more subtle and a nuance of the tone like a double bass rather than a forced expression. So much so that I have two fretless Precision's now (along with a fretless Stingray and Jazz) and when I recently recorded an EP, I predominantly used my fretless Precision strung with flats.

I wish I'd bought your fretless Ibanez. It's on my list of basses to own but I lacked the funds at the time 😥

Just 4 at the moment, 1. Fender Japan Jazz 62 Reissue Fretless (Ebony Board) 2. Fender Japan Precision 62 Reissue Fretless (Rosewood Board) 3. Fender Mexico Precision 70 Reissue Fretless (Maple Board) 4. Musicman Stingray SR4 Fretless (Pau Ferro Board) I feel like I should own some more though and wouldn't mind the following, 1. Warwick Streamer Jazzman or Stage 1 Fretless Natural 2. Fender Japan Precision US 70 Reissue Fretted White 3. Fender Telecaster Bass Fretted 4. Ibanez Musician Fretless

Fun Thread , Have You Ever Been Asked For Your Autograph ?
Linus27 replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
Yes lots of times when signed many moons ago. What's weirder is when you are with other people. My girlfriend at the time and my wife find it really weird that people would ask for my autograph or recognise me in the street. I'm just normal me to them so they find it a bit weird, a bit cool and a bit unbelievable that someone wants my autograph, photo or to talk to me. -
Cheap Fretless - Recommendations or what ya got
Linus27 replied to PaulThePlug's topic in Bass Guitars
I really like your band, I've just been listening to quite a few tracks on YouTube 😁 -
I rarely get that, music just creates moods, images, visuals and emotions to me, regardless of how many times I have listened to it. Very few song remind me of a moment in time. However, two that always do is The Eurythmics- There Must Be An Angel which reminds me of my first ever school work experience when I was about 15 and Paul Young - Love of the Common People which reminds me of being in the car with my dad at Heathrow when I was 14.

Cheap Fretless - Recommendations or what ya got

I totally agree with this, if I play lined, I have to think about it, I have to aim for the lines like a target so you're always processing and conscious of aiming for the right spot, where as unlined you use your ear and rely on technique. Unlined for me is so much easier and a natural process. -
Cheap Fretless - Recommendations or what ya got
Linus27 replied to PaulThePlug's topic in Bass Guitars
This is going to create mixed reactions but my advice is to get him an unlined fretless if he's young and starting out. In the long run it will teach him better technique, better ear and more creativity. Others will say otherwise but my personal opinion, as a fretless bassist, as he is young and starting out, this would be my advice. Of course there is nothing wrong with choosing a lined fretless and there are more choices available from Squire, Cort and Ibanez so the choice is yours. The Squire Vintage Jazz lined fretless is an excellent starting bass. -

Yep, this is the same for me although no nut needed adjustment on my Jazz or Stingray.

For some reason I thought the Traveller 2x10 was a fair bit smaller but it appears it's not so apologies for that. I would make not sense getting one. So I'm going to go for a combo instead.
-
Thanks for the input and feedback everyone. I'm going to go for a combo as this was my original thought as it will be quicker to take to the gigs I'll use it at and it can be my main practice amp for at home, replacing my little Ashdown combo that I could sell. As I say, combo in one hand, bass in the other and my small pedalboard over my shoulder. I'll wait to see what the new M58 combo's are like first as well before purchasing anything.
-
Thank you, this is great to hear.
-
No low B, just a 4 string fretless but my tone is round and smooth, more Motown and I do use an octave pedal.

Just posting this to see if any one has any pointers or thought on what choice I should make. If in fact anyone has either of the two options and can share positive or negative thoughts. I'm thinking about getting a small, lightweight but fairly powerful setup to take to certain gigs. My band this year will be playing quite few showcase type gigs where we turn up, plug in, line check and then play for say 30 minutes. So setup time and in some cases, space might be limited. Rather than drag my Barefaced Two10 and Ashdown RM Evo rig out, I'm thinking something easier and more portable. We are sort of like an MTV unplugged type thing but I am electric fretless bass so not a loud rock band. Top of my list is a MarkBass CMD121H v4 combo which has a 12" speaker putting out 300w. I should be able to carry it in one hand, bass in the other and pedals over my back. Plus it will be pretty much plug in and play. However, the other option is a MarkBass Traveller 2x10 which has a slightly smaller and lighter footprint. The trade off however is I would need to still bring a small head (I have a Warwick Gnome I Pro already) and spend the time plugging in etc. I know it's not a biggy but it's still more cables, stuff to bring along and set up. Having never owned either of these products, how do they compare? Is the 1x12 Combo efficient enough or a bit of a wet blanket and the 2x10 a better choice. Would be interested if anyone can share any thoughts or experience.
