1.
My take on the soundtrack was that they started with the guy on the acoustic bass, but then switched to a single bassline for the remainder of the track. The playing was just too consistent (IMHO) to be 30 different bassists playing 30 different basses.
I'm with Spidey and his dancing spidey senses on this one
2.
Can someone please explain the point of these clips?
I think its kind of a celebration to show lots of people who have taken the time to learn a song and a rather cool song at that.
3. Fluffo, I'll post the pictures you sent on here a bit later but I have certainly never seen anything like it before.
4. Yes many a time but on different levels. Twice with two drummers who we gelled so perfectly that it was heaven. In fact with one of the drummers, it was like telepathy, we could just feed of each others expresions to make movement and groove, we were so locked in it was awsome and I so looked forward to the gigs. We would get regular comments after a gig commenting on how well we gelled and we were the talented ones in the band Such a shame I could not face playing with the rest of the band who were slackers and I left them in the end.
5.
It never had the headstock serial, I knew the guy who owned it first, so saw it from new, pretty much I really want to get an 800 Series. Did you ever see them? Ash body, translucent purple with gold hardware, otherwise pretty much the same (possibly ebony fretboard?). Amazing looking things. I saw one once. Once.
I did hear about the 800 but never got to see one. I am interested now in seeing what they look like. The only other 400 I saw in the flesh was at a studio I was recording at. It was baby blue and fretless.
6. ObscureRyan OK, first three songs are done. Structure, chords and as a special treat I have recorded the bass lines on my Tascam so you can hear exactly what needs to be played. So give me your email address and I will send over the mp3's as well as the word document containing the chords etc.
7. Thanks Doctor J, a bit more info for me. I must admit, my Made In Japan and serial number on the back of the headstock is rubbing away so perhaps your one has although I doubt it would had gone so quick if you got it in 93. Maybe ESP were just a bit slack or could not decide if they wanted to put serials on the neck or not
8. WOW that does sound very odd indeed with all the extra controls etc. Will PM you my email now.
9. OK, that is exactly the same as mine apart from I don't have the matching headstock colour which was an option on them and I changed the pickups to Barts. What I would say from the knowledge I have of this bass is that it is made in Japan and from the mid to late 80's. The Fender shaped headstock was only for the European and very possibly Asian market. The US had a different headstock which has a little lip on the bottom. Do you have a serial number on the back of the headstock? I have one there and it also says Made In Japan. My neck plate is exactly the same minus the New York etching. However, I would say 99.9% that the store in New York had that etched on themselves. They are copies of the Fender 62 Jazz bass and very very good indeed. At the time, the factory where this was being made was making Fender basses as well as ESP and Tokai basses and so that headstock could have easily made its way onto a Fender bass So where did you get the bass from? Here is a picture of mine.
10. I have just had a listen to the music on Myspace and its all really easy. Lots of eights and driving bass lines. Man I would love to do this gig, would be right up my street. Where are you based, I could learn the songs and show you what they are but I can't do TAB but honestly the tracks I have listened to are so very very easy.
11. OK cool. Looking forward to seeing it.
12. Are you sure its USA? I have a ESP 400 Series Jazz bass from 1989 and as far as I know all ESP basses back then were made in Japan. The neck serial 6252 and the neck plate serial 02699. The neck plate also has ESP etched on it. Do you have any photos of your bass?
13. As you like your basses to look new, would it not had been better to look at the Fender Classic 70's Jazz. They are raved about and as an ex owner, I can confirm they sound, play and look amazing. Still made in Mexico but about £400 cheaper.
14. Thanks shizznit, just checked the website and they have two classic 112's in stock I am sure Bass Direct can get them also.
15.
Looks like BassDirect has the amp in stock http://www.bassdirec...lification.html
Cheers Clarky.
16.
Where from if you don't mind me asking? Looks like a nice piece of kit.
Probably going to get the Reidmar from Thomann and the cabs from Guitar and Amp Shop unless anyone knows anywhere else or better that sells them.
17.
What about a Gorm 350? There's one for sale in the forum at a very good price: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1471338
I'm going for a Reidmar now with two classic cabs.
18. Yep, I don't think many if any would be able to tell the difference, certainly not tonally. In fact recorded most would not be able to tell if a song was recorded with a Jazz, Precision, Warwick, Squire, Washburn, Stingray etc.
19. Thanks again shizznit for a great detailed post. It has now left me undecided on what cab to go for with the Reidmar. On one hand I would love a 4 ohms cab so I can use the full 250 watts from the amp and get away with using one cab only. However, trying to find one that is light and portable as well as giving me the warm full vintage tone and does not cost a fortune is proving difficult. I wish EBS would make a 4 ohms 15" classic range cab. If I go for a pair of the EBS classic cabs, I can't decide to go for two 110 cabs or two 112 cabs. Not knowing what difference in tone each speaker size will give me does not help. Plus a single cab with the Reidmar will only give me 125 watts which does seem a little thin. My current MarkBass 121H combo gives me 300 watts at 8 ohms and is plenty loud enough. Its just that it does not sound as nice as the EBS gear.
20. I could be wrong but the best looking girl you have used is the one you used to sell the red ESP 400 series jazz bass. However, I could be conviced otherwise if more pictures are posted of this new model. Go on, see if you can convince me
21. Thanks Sarah, my Impreza is an 03 WRX saloon so it sounds like it will go in that as well as the Clio 172. So it looks like an acoustic DB afterall for me
22. Yeah bass wise, I am also very happy for once. Yes there are a few basses that I would love in the collection but they will probably only be played now and again and I could easily miss owning them.
23. So the start of another year, what does everyone have GAS for in 2012? I would like the following, EBS Reidmar 250 amp EBS Classic 110 or 112 x 2 off Double Bass
