I have now heard back reagrding the availablility of this bass and sadly Fender have confirmed it is discontinued Nice to see the Fender website is kept up to date.

I would say either, anyone who has an original '51 Precision or maybe anyone who has the James Jamerson Re-issue Precision. Either of those would make me happy. As for a bass I know of, then probably Telebass's 51 Precision re-issue which I believe is in yellow.

I contacted my local music shop the other day just to see if it is possible to get these and they think they can but will confirm price and delivery tomorrow. So I will let you know if they are actually available.

Just say that your not enjoying music at the moment and not getting anything out of it. Something about getting a bit bored with playing music and just fancy some time away, having a break and taking on a new fresh non musical challenge. Plus say that you will honour any booked gigs etc.

Thanks for the help everyone. Really useful and I know twice as much now as I did yesterday As for style of music then I would say fairly Motown. The bass line is simple but effective but would really suit a a double bass tone. Budget is quite small at this stage but only because I don't know how much I am going to use it. No point spending a grand plus if its only going to be used for one track. So with this in mind, I may go with the NS WAV/NSX to have around the house to noodle and practise on but when it comes to recording, I will hire a real double bass. I have the evolving bassist book/DVD but I will also get ''about the double bass - a players guide' by peter tyler and spend the next few months practising and who knows, if I get into it, then I can up my budget and get something better. As per my thread about electric double bass, I am still unsure if I should go down the electric double bass or maybe go for an acoustic double bass. The issue has now come forward with the possibility that I may be going into the studio in January to record more tracks for the album, with one of the song suitaing a double bass. If I was to go for an acoustic double bass, what would be a good one to start with for someone who has very little experience of playing double bass? I have had some lessons with Jakesbass so know some basics as well as owning an EUB for around 8 months. I will be recording with it and possibly some live work so it has to be good enough for this but obviously I don't want to spend a large amount of money on one. Also, I know nothing about the different sizes, 1/2. 3/4. full etc so again not sure what would be ideal. So any advice appreciated. Of course I could just go for an electric upright but half of me fancies a real double bass

Real shame to read this. Also enjoyed having a nose around, chatting with Darren as well as buying my MB Combo, Fender Jazz, Genz Benz Shuttle 9 recently. I currently have something on order which Angus was told would only be a couple of weeks. Does this put this purchase into doubt?

Thanks Dood. I am thinking about getting one of these as a small combo to take to rehearsals with my acoustic band as believe it or not, lugging my MarkBass CMD121H combo every Tuesday and Thursdays is getting a pain due to its size and weight. Something even smaller like this EBS would be great. However, I am a bit worried that it will be a little under powered but even more that it might suffer from what i have found most low output combos suffer from and thats a thin nasally middy sound with little tone and definition. I have a 30 watt Laney and it sounds like a wet paper box. As soon as you try and add any bass it just goes boxy and muddy. Does this suffer from this at all or does it tonally have definition and character? Sorry for all the questions

Beautiful Nick. I had a 77 with a black guard but I do like the white one on yours. Would love to have a play of it someday.

I would love to one of these '51 Precisions and have it repainted in Olympic White to match my Precision but coated in Nitro so it gets naturally reliced quickly. Anyone got any ideas how much something like that could cost and know of anywhere that can do this sort of thing?
