5.
my '57' Vintage Icon V4 P bass I bought it new, and have added the following features: Fender 10 hole gold anodized scratchplate, customised to fit the bass by me. Black plastic thumbrest JV Squier Precision pups, complete with earthing plate and cloth wires ala 57. Bridge pup cover from later 60's/early 70's, possibly fender but probably jap, nicely pitted and discoloured. Neck pup cover, probably similar age and similar heritage, equally pitted and discoloured. Currently fitted with Status Flatwounds, but i alternate between daddarrio nickle rounds too. Lovely bass. Not had too much experience with other P basses, only ever played cheap p's and the standard Fender MIM and USA models in the shop, but for me this one outplays all of them Still toying with fitting a maple board neck to complete the 57 image, but we'll see.
Bass looks awesome Kev - great work mate Graeme
 6. I have one of bass like things, except it's smaller, has 6 thin strings and rhymes with blatoblaster made by Vintage - best £150 i ever spent! More power to them!
 7. On looks alone, i bought the 60's CV Precision. Sounds great, looks great, feels great, what more can i say. I'll be getting the other two CV basses as well as i reckon in a few years, these will be sought after...well done Fender/Squier! I haven't tried the VM's, but i'm sure that they play great etc, but i reckon on looks alone, the CV's have it Thanks all - just my humble opinion! Graeme
 8. Hi dude - can you give any more info on the Charvel - what's the general condition, is there any fretwear etc? Are you willing to post? Cheers Graeme

 16.
The MM copies aren't that great. Ok as a starter bass but there are much much better to be honest. I'd be looking at trying to pick up a 2nd hand OLP if I were you.
I second that!

 20.
hi, after wetting my whistle with a MIM 50's reissue yesterday in guitarguitar i have managed to become stricken with some minor GAS for a P bass. i have heard good things re the classic vibe and the colour certainly works for me too. does anyone know if any store in glasgow has this guitar in stock, merchant city music have them on the website but nowt in store. oh and does anyone want to buy any of the two basses listed below to allow me to feed my GAS??? cheers, Barry
Just bought a CV P Bass myself and love it - well worth a go - i bought mine mail order and am very satisfied with the quality etc. Go on....sell those Ibbies and get one mail order!
 21. Great Thread, and a subject close to my heart. I've had loads of pricier basses (JD/Status/MIA Fenders etc), but currently gigging and loving two basses, an OLP MM, a Squier Classic Vibe Precision and a Peavey Zodiac. Great basses, reliable etc and don't mind handing them over on Jam nights etc. The OLP has only had a good setup, the Classic Vibe P Bass has had a chrome pickup cover added for that 60's look, and the Peavey has had an EMG active circuit added. Will add some pics of the Classic Vibe soon as it looks great (IMHO!) Cheers Graeme
 22.
BUMP............... Arrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhh...!!!!!!!!!!!!
still available???
 23. Hi My Status is a 32" scale and i love it! i'm thinking of asking a local company to build be a Stanley Clarke type bass in 32" as well. After years of playing 34" and 35" scale basses, the 32 seems to fit so well! Cheers Graeme also love the Birdsong basses!
